We made the sons of Israel cross the sea. But Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them to oppress and attack them. Finally, while on the verge of drowning, (Pharaoh) said; “Indeed, I also believed that there is no deity other than the God that the sons of Israel believe in. I am also a Muslim.”
Tafsir
When the Children of Israel believed in Allah and His Prophets, Allah revealed to Hazrat Musa (Moses) and commanded him to take his people on a journey. Hazrat Moses also set out, taking his people with him.
When Pharaoh heard that the Children of Israel had come out of Egypt, he pursued them with his soldiers in order to persecute and attack them, that is, to slaughter them. He caught up with them near the Red Sea. However, when Hazrat Moses struck the sea with the staff in his hand, as a miracle of Allah, the Red Sea split into two, and through the waters separated like two mountains, Hazrat Moses led his people to the opposite shore of the Red Sea. Seeing this, Pharaoh with his troops set out on the miraculous path shown by Moses to capture him and to persecute and slaughter his people, and when the waters of the Red Sea closed on both sides, Pharaoh and his army perished there.
When Pharaoh was drowning, he said: "Indeed, I have believed that there is no god but the God in whom the Children of Israel believed, and I am one of the Muslims. However, Pharaoh's belief in Allah is nothing but self-deception, as we have explained in previous lessons. If Pharaoh had believed in Allah, he would have bowed down and obeyed Allah, his Lord, in the face of so many great miracles shown by Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm'. For that moment, Pharaoh will deceive Allah according to his so-called mind and he will be saved from the painful torment. And even if Pharaoh says, as Pharaoh did, that he believes in the same God that the people of Israel believed in, his belief is not a true belief. Repenting at a time when the gates of repentance are closed at the point of death will not benefit the person. Repentance after the moment when the doors of repentance are closed will not be accepted again. When they reach salvation, they will return to their own ways. In this respect, Allah is well aware of their covenant, and Allah is well aware of what they believe in and what they do not believe in, because they have made Allah (swt) write their desires and wishes as their destiny. They do not repent in true faith.
That is why their repentance will not be accepted. If they had repented in full faith, Allah is not cruel and is kind and merciful to His servants. If their faith had been perfected when they saw the torment of Hell, that is, if they had believed that there is no other God but Allah, the One and Only, Allah would have forgiven them too.
What is said in the video
Surah Yunus, verse 90, we have come to it. We brought the Children of Israel across the sea. But Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them to oppress and attack them. Finally, when he was about to drown in the sea, Pharaoh: 'I truly believe, too, that there is no god but the God the Children of Israel believe in; I too am one of the Muslims,' he said. According to this verse, did this one go as a Muslim?
Allah Almighty was At-Tawwab.
He was the One who accepts repentance abundantly. Since there is no other god besides Allah Almighty, if we ask how it was in this case: his coming to faith came after the doors of repentance had closed, and once such a door of repentance has closed, repentance is not accepted. Why? Because now the realm of the Hereafter is seen, and once it is seen, why he came into the world, how he came, the (?) there are seen as in an instant, and when he says, 'Send me back once more, look how I will worship You', while in his nature too his character is closed to it, that (?) would again do the same deeds in the world.
In this case their repentance is no longer accepted. Yes. Allah Almighty (?); I said these words as a preparation, a preliminary preparation, so that, accordingly, in the verses that follow it will be laid out. Allah Almighty, because the Children of Israel believed in Allah and His prophets and had faith, commands Moses (peace be upon him), from Allah by revelation, to lead his people out. And Moses takes his people and sets out. Allah Almighty says to Moses: O Moses, at night take your people and set out. At night.
Take your people and set out. And Moses takes his people and sets out. Morning comes. Not seeing the Jewish people of Israel there, they tell Pharaoh: Moses has taken his people away. Thereupon he says: we are strong. He gathers his (?) soldiers. He gathers his forces. He sets out to crush Moses, to (?) Moses. Now here, here there are great events. Great events.
At night the people set out. On foot.
They have nothing. On foot.
In the morning Pharaoh sets out with his cavalry. With his cavalry. To catch Moses and his people. Let us say there is an 8-hour distance between them. A 10-hour distance.
Since a person, a person goes 5 kilometres an hour, normally he will go 50 kilometres in 10 hours. In 10 hours. The 10-hour road, the 10-hour road, Pharaoh with his (?) will cover in maybe 2 hours. He will cover it in 1 hour. Or look, he will cover it in 2 hours. It will take 2 hours. He will cover it in 1 hour. Because he will advance 60 to 70 kilometres an hour. One goes 5 kilometres. In this case, how did Moses get to the Red Sea? Have you ever thought about this? How did he get to the Red Sea?
This is how Allah Almighty protects those He protects: He creates time within time, He makes tayy al-makan. Tayy al-makan. He brings them all the way to the Red Sea. What is tayy al-makan for us? It is going from one place to another in an instant. Tayy al-makan. It happens in three ways. One, by the folding of places. Two, with the jinn. It happens. One goes by means of the jinn. Now, the Prophet (peace be upon him), too, in the caravan of Hazrat, Hazrat Zeyn, is going to Syria. Now, on the way back from trading, seven stages behind, 'I will bring news that the caravan is coming,' he says.
He comes to our mother Khadija.
He has bread made. Back again. He returns and brings it to the caravan. The bread is still warm. Seven stages away. He goes and comes back within a few hours. And (?) only the Messenger of Allah can do this, he says. And they do not believe it; when they come to Khadija they ask. He brought us warm bread. Where did he get it, they say. From me. He came here and went back, she says. Yes. This is tayy al-makan: by time coming about within time, Allah Almighty in this way protects His beloved ones and the events to come by His own Essence. So this Jewish people, too, Moses at night leading them out, this too is a miracle.
He brings them all the way to the Red Sea. The next day, when Pharaoh learns of it, he sets out with his cavalry. What they walked in ten, twelve hours, the cavalry will cover in one hour. Yet for them to leave Egypt, sir, or to leave Cairo and reach the Red Sea may take days. Maybe days. Now, in how short a time He brings them there. When Pharaoh, on the shore of the Red Sea, sees Moses, (?), strike the sea. From there the (?) part. While crossing there, after his people have crossed, in the Quran, that Moses had crossed, when he plunges onto the path, when Allah Almighty joins the two seas, right there, when he was about to perish, when he was dying, the word he said as he was dying: 'I too have believed,' he says, 'in the God of Moses I have believed,' he says. But it is a word said as he was dying, when the door of repentance had closed.
Allah Almighty, because the Children of Israel believed in Allah and His prophets and had faith, from Allah, by revelation to Moses (peace be upon him), his people sets out; He commands him to lead them out. And Moses takes his people and sets out. Here too, in this word, that state of tayy al-makan comes about. Indeed Pharaoh, hearing that the Children of Israel had left Egypt, to oppress and attack them, that is, to kill them, with his soldiers follows the Children of Israel. He catches up with them by the Red Sea. But Moses, striking the sea with the staff in his hand as a (?) of Allah, the Red Sea splits in two, and between the parts that stand apart like two mountains, Moses brings his people across the Red Sea, to safety on the other side of the Red Sea.
Seeing this, Pharaoh, with his soldiers, to catch Moses and his people too, 'we will torment them', to kill them, enters this (?) path that Moses had shown, and when the waters of the Red Sea from both sides meet and close, Pharaoh's army perishes there.
And Allah Almighty, to Moses, in the verse, in the next one, verse 92, what does He say? 'Today I will leave your body lifeless as a lesson to the worlds,' He says. As a lesson. Yes, while drowning, Pharaoh was saying this: 'I too have truly believed that there is no god but the God they believe in. I too am one of the Muslims,' he said. But he said it to escape from that; that is, just as he sees nine miracles and does not believe any of them, here too, in the same way, he again does not believe. When the question 'what if he did believe' comes to our mind: these are the ones who in pre-eternity, when they made a covenant with Allah Almighty, in the covenant of 'Alastu bi-rabbikum', gave their pledge as deniers. These do not believe.
Yes.
While drowning, Pharaoh says this: 'I too have truly believed that there is no god but the God the Children of Israel believe in. I too am one of the Muslims,' he said. Yet Pharaoh's believing in Allah, as we explained in the earlier (?), is nothing but deceiving his own nafs. If Pharaoh had believed in Allah, before the so many great miracles Moses (peace be upon him) brought, he would have knelt down and obeyed his Lord, Allah.
At that moment, by his so-called reasoning, Pharaoh will again deceive Allah and escape that little bit of torment. Moreover, (?), as Pharaoh said, his saying 'I too believe in the God the Children of Israel have believed in', his believing in this way is not real faith. Repenting when the soul has come to the throat, at a time when the doors of repentance have closed, does not benefit a person. Repentances made after the moment the doors of repentance close are never accepted. When these reach (?), yes, again the same path they will take and they will do the same deeds.
In this respect, since Allah knows very well the pledge they gave, since their own desires and wishes they had written for them as fate by Allah Almighty, Allah knows very well what they did not believe in. These do not repent upon true faith. That is why the repentances they make are not accepted. If they had repented upon full faith, Allah is not unjust, and towards His servants He is compassionate and merciful. If their faith too had become complete when they saw the torment of Hell, that is, the One Allah, (?), if they had believed, Allah would have forgiven them too. Yes, a person is a Muslim. He lives the weakest point of faith.
Living like a non-Muslim, sir, (?), he lives like them and (?) them. If (?) his faith, if his kufr is greater, he will certainly see a torment. But in that torment, that light of faith which is complete, that light of faith will become complete, and because he submitted to Allah he will not remain in that eternal fire of Hell. Let us say, in the eternal torment of Hell. He will not remain in the torment of Hell. Because fire is forbidden for a Muslim, for a Muslim, for a person of faith. Allah decrees it so. 'Do not go towards the fire prepared for the disbelievers,' He says. Yes. So a Muslim will not enter the fire.
Now what comes to my mind, my mind? The Sirat bridge exists, not (?), those who still believe in this, who have faith in it, there are those superstitions: they put people into Hell, they make those believers too pass through that fire. That is, all kinds of fabrications: or hooks, Hatipoğlu says so too, or there are supposedly hooks, or they strike a person and so on. These are superstition itself; they have no proof in their hands, no hadith, no verse. Sir, if fire is forbidden even for a Muslim, it is entirely forbidden for a saint, and for a prophet entirely forbidden. Whom are you putting where, and whom are you making pass through what?
Yes.
