On that Day when We call each nation with their leaders, some people will be given their books (of deeds) from the right. They will read their books (of deed) without suffering a tiniest injustice.
Tafsir
On the Day of Judgment, on the Day of Reckoning, when people will be called to appear before the Day of Reckoning, every community of people, that is, the communities of the Prophets sent to the tribes. When they will be asked which Prophet was sent to which people, and which people were ruled by the Shari'ah that the Prophets brought from Allah, and whether they fulfilled Allah's commands or not, they will read their books of deeds, without the slightest injustice to those among them whose books of deeds are given to them on their right sides.
Some commentators have given the following meaning to this verse: Since this verse does not mention those whose books of deeds are given to them from the left side, they say that these people are blind and therefore they are not in a position to read the books of deeds even if they are given them, and they have taken the figurative meaning of the following verse as a literal meaning and cited it as evidence. This meaning is wrong.
We cannot cite this verse as evidence for the meaning of the above verse. Since everyone will be given his book, the wicked people will be given their books on their left side. Because they are sinners, they will not be able to read their deeds out of shame. Because of their pride and arrogance, and because people who cannot compromise their ego and do not submit to Allah, even though they know that their evil deeds were wrong in this world, will not be able to read them because they will be humiliated on the Day of Reckoning in the Hereafter. In this respect, their books will be shown to them. They will not be able to deny what they have done.
Those who are given their books of deeds on their right hand side will read their books with pride and will be shown as examples of people who fulfill the command of Allah against evil people.
What is said in the video
To Surah Al-Isra, verse 71, we have come. "On that Day when We will call every group of people with their leaders." Allah Almighty, every group of people; I mean, as I said just now, you know, has sent a prophet to every people since our father Adam. When Allah Almighty resurrects people on the Day of Resurrection, He will call them into His presence with the leaders of each people. "On that Day when We will call every group of people with their leaders, those whose record of deeds will be given from the right." Some will be given their record of deeds from the right. Fe ashâbu'l-meymeneti mâ ashâbu'l-meymeneh.
O you of the right, glad tidings to you. "They will read their records of deeds without suffering the slightest injustice," it says. Without suffering the slightest injustice. That is, when they read those records of deeds, those of the right say: "My Allah, here even things we did not do are written as good deeds. We did not do these." And Allah Almighty says: "While you were in the world, outside your destiny, you asked Me for such and such wishes. We were going to fulfill that wish and desire of yours. Outside your destiny, a burden you could not bear would have arisen on your back. But you were patient with it.
So the rewards in return for it are written here," He says. Yes. That is when people rejoice so much. Allah's grace and generosity. See what He says? "I sent one percent of My mercy to the earth. Ninety-nine percent, for when I judge My servants on the Day of Resurrection, I kept for Myself," He says. Who are My servants? Those who said "Allah" while in the world, who were servants to His Beloved, who feared Allah and bound themselves by the rulings of the shari'a, who did good to people, who removed everything besides Allah from among the people and worshipped Allah, those people, the people Allah loves; they are His servants.
Yes. "On that Day when We will call every group of people with their leaders, whose records of deeds will be given from the right? Some will be given their records of deeds from the right. They will read their records of deeds without suffering the slightest injustice." On the Day of Resurrection, on that Day of Reckoning, at a time when people are called into His presence, every group of people, that is, the communities of the prophets sent to the peoples; to which people which prophet was sent, and whether the peoples, bound by the shari'as that the prophets who came brought from Allah, carried out Allah's commands or not, when they are asked about this; and among these people, those whose records of deeds are given on the right side, without the slightest injustice being done, will read their records of deeds.
Well now, Hodja, then will those whose records are given from the left suffer injustice? Now, when it says the slightest injustice, Allah Almighty means this here. For those whose records are given from the right, if one did a good deed, He increased it three, five, seven, ten, seventy times. He increased it. To reward him.
What did He do? Was he wronged? No. He increases it. But to non-Muslims He gives exactly for what they did. One sin for one sin. He does not increase it. He does not increase it. Yes.
Here some commentators, interpreting this verse, give a meaning like this. Since this verse does not mention those whose records are given on the left side, these people are blind, and so even if their records are given to them, they are not able to read them; and taking the figurative meaning that we will explain in the verse below as the literal meaning, they have presented the verse as (?). I have said that this meaning is wrong. Yes. This meaning is wrong. Now, there is a verse like this. I think it is Surah As-Sajda. Let's see.
If you will allow me a little, if we reinforce verses with verses it will be better, of course.
Verse 12 of Surah As-Sajda refutes the verse as the commentators interpreted it. Pay attention. A verse does not refute a verse. It refutes the verse as the commentators interpreted it. That is, it refutes the words of the commentators who interpreted it. Otherwise a verse does not refute a verse. In that case, because people lack knowledge, people have strayed onto wrong paths. See what Surah As-Sajda, verse 12 says: "Those sinners will hang their heads before their Lord: Our Lord, we have seen" (we have seen, it says, see) "we have seen and heard; now send us back to the world and we will do good deeds, now we firmly believe. If only you could see the time they say this," it says.
In that case, in that case, people's words like "it says these verses to those of the right, and those of the left supposedly cannot see, and that is why it mentioned them"; they reveal those persons' own lack of knowledge. One, it reveals that they are unaware of the verse. Two, as they say, if you stir it too much, a hidden agenda turns up underneath; perhaps, to serve other aims, they are pulling people onto certain paths. That is why we truly recommend that you read the commentary we have written.
In the verse: whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter too. Yes. What does it say? In the verse it says: whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter too. Who is the one who is blind in this world? The one who does not see the truth. Allah Almighty sometimes speaks figuratively. Sometimes He speaks literally. If you take what He says figuratively in the literal sense, then of course, like this, in the middle of a straight road you go astray. Now, whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter too. There are very few blind people in this world. Very few people are blind. They are blind in the hereafter too.
But non-Muslims are not blind. They see. So then they are blind there.
They are blind there. Now, when you say Allah Almighty, in this figurative sense, says those who are blind in this world are blind in the hereafter too, why do you take non-Muslims as blind too? Here. Why do you not take only the blind?
One thing they say does not match another. Now, in the verse: whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter. We cannot present this verse as proof for the meaning of the verse above. Since everyone will be given his record, evil people too will be given their records on the left side. Because they are sinners, out of shame they will not be able to read what they did. Because their pride and arrogance, that the evil they did in the world was wrong, since they presented their own evil, their own evil deeds, as if they were right, in the realm of the hereafter, on that Day of Reckoning, since they fall into a (?) position before those around them, they will not be able to read. Therefore their records will be shown to them.
They will not be able to deny what they did. Figuratively, one who is blind in this world, how beautifully it says it, whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter too. Allah has sent the Holy Quran. Blessed. A source of knowledge. Knowledge. And it sheds light, radiance. Light. If you shut your eyes to it, are you blind or not?
If you turn your back, are you blind or not? If you pretend not to see. If you deny it, with your nafs raised to the skies, have you denied Allah or not? So although Allah shows you all the truth, if you do not want to see it, are you blind or not? How can you take this word to say that people will stand blind in the hereafter? Allah protect us. How, how lacking in knowledge people are, and how, claiming "I supposedly know Arabic", interpreting Arabic like this, they confuse people; how clearly we see it here. In fact, look, right from the start they tell these people such things. It starts right at the beginning.
Look, for example in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 7: "Allah has sealed their hearts and their ears. Over their eyes a kind of veil is drawn, and for them in this world and the hereafter there is a great punishment," it says. "Because they denied Allah," we say this part plainly, in parentheses, "they have had their hearts sealed by Allah there. Weights have been put in their ears, and He has had veils drawn over their eyes. For them there is a great punishment." Now, they interpreted verse 10 wrongly. We now come to 11 and 12, to verses 13, 14, 15.
Well.
For example, here in a wrongly interpreted verse: "Their state, the hypocrites' state, is like a fire one kindles in a dark night." Like a fire one kindles in a dark night. A non-Muslim cannot kindle a fire. We will explain the meaning of the fire now anyway. What does it say? "Their state, the hypocrites' state, is like a fire one kindles in a dark night." Whereas it is: like a fire burning in a dark night. What does the example of a fire in a dark night come to? "When the fire lights up its surroundings," now, he both kindles the fire, as it says here, "like a fire one kindles", "when the fire lights up (?), Allah immediately takes away their light," it says.
These are words that do not fit together. A person lit a fire, and Allah took away their light. "He immediately takes away their light and leaves them in darknesses." Allah, Allah, so Allah made a distinction among His servants. Now look: "Their state, the hypocrites' state, is like a fire burning in a dark night." What is this? Allah Almighty sent this Holy Quran as a light and a radiance, before these people, as a guide to right guidance. Is that so? People are in such darkness that they cannot see around them. But Allah sent the Quran so that we would find guidance and see our surroundings in the light.
Now it is telling of their state, the hypocrites' state. Because the Muslims see, it makes a distinction for the Muslims. They see; the Muslims see the light. But the hypocrites' state is like a fire burning in a dark night. When the fire lights up its surroundings, those who put out the fire. What does Allah (?) say? "When the fire lights up its surroundings, Allah immediately takes away their light." Allah takes away no one's light. Is Allah being given attributes here or not? So here: when the fire lights up its surroundings, those who put out the fire, that is, those who, within the light, seek light yet sink into darknesses, who believe in what their own carnal feelings gave them, the false light that (?) showed, and advance on that path and turn their back on the true light; in a dark night they put out their own light themselves.
They put out their own light themselves. They leave themselves in darknesses. Then they no longer see. So what have they turned the verse into?
And here too, here too, a person gets up and, with "whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter", (?) does not let those given their books in the left hand read them. "They are blind there," he says. Well, if he is blind, he would say, why should I worship an Allah I did not see? (?) says: "I would not worship an Allah I do not see." Yes.
Now in these places there are many subtleties. For us to fully grasp these places, much knowledge, awareness of many verses, the support of many hadiths is needed. So, having learned this much, we close this here.
In the verse: whoever is blind in this world is blind in the hereafter. We cannot present this verse as proof for the meaning of the verse above. Since everyone will be given his record, evil people too will be given their records on the left side. Because they are sinners, out of shame they will not be able to read what they did.
Because their pride and arrogance, that the evil they did in the world was wrong, since they presented their evil as if it were right, in the realm of the hereafter, on that Day of Reckoning, since they fall into a (?) position before those around them, they will not be able to read. Therefore their records will be shown to them; what they did they will not be able to deny. But those given their records on the right, reading their records with pride, these people who carry out Allah's command, will be shown, before the evil people, as an example.
