When We give blessings to people (most of them) turn away and ignore (Us). But when a calamity hits them, (most of them) become hopeless and depressed.
Tafsir
The human soul is selfish and ungrateful. If man cannot overcome the evils in his nafs with the light of faith and reform it, his arrogance and feelings of selfishness increase in the face of the blessings given by Allah (swt) and he turns to evil ways and immoralities forbidden by Allah (swt) and forgets Allah (swt). Or a person may become infatuated with matter, love Allah's blessings more than Allah, and turn his back on matter as if he will never die, turning away from Allah and forgetting Allah. If people in this situation were to lose the material in their hands, their world would come crashing down on their heads when the material flies out of the hands of people who rely on and rely on matter, forgetting Allah. All their moods and states will deteriorate and they will fall into pessimism. Even though they realize that Allah (swt) is Almighty and that they are undergoing a test on themselves, they cannot consent to what comes from Allah (swt) because they are driven by their egoistic feelings, and they wander around in confusion, not knowing what to do.
Such people fall into this state because they have no submission to Allah (swt). Even though they believe in the Hereafter, they are in a state of doubt. People who have doubts about the Hereafter and the resurrection cannot submit fully to Allah (swt) until they are able to overcome these doubts in their hearts. They experience these states because they love Allah's creation more than Allah.

Verse 83 of Surah Al-Isra, a verse that was rendered incompletely. Now let us all take a look at the verse. First let us read the part written incompletely, and let us ask you: I wonder, where is the omission here? I will expect an answer from you.
When We give man a blessing, he turns away and sidesteps. And if harm and loss touch him, he falls into utter despair. The verse was rendered like this. Now, this verse — was it rendered correctly, or was it rendered incompletely, or have we misunderstood it? If it's correct: there's nothing in the verse, Hodja, the verse is correct; if it's incomplete: Hodja, something seems to be missing here — I'm waiting for your answer. Yes. So I guess they're saying: Hodja, read the verse once more. Surah Al-Isra, verse 83. When We give man a blessing, he turns away and sidesteps. He's received the blessing, so he'll turn away and sidestep.
He'll refresh his own nafs. And if harm and loss touch him, he falls into utter despair. Now here in the verse: a part of people are like that. Our master, may Allah, may Allah be pleased with you. Yes, correct — as Alp said, as our child said, what did we say: when We give man a blessing, many; 'some people' it would be, says (?) our daughter, yes. Many turn away from Us and sidestep. And if harm and loss touch him, again many fall into utter despair. Now I ask again here. Why do words like 'some' or 'many', like 'a part of them' — why do such words have to be used? Why must this be so? You can tell me this too.
That means you have grasped the verses.
Again, an answer is awaited. Why 'a part' or 'many'?
Will you be able to tell me the root of it? The root. (?) Will you be able to tell me the root?
Yes, if we approach the verses consciously like this we will understand them better. Emre says: among people there are people like prophets and saints who do not turn away. Yes, Çağla (?) says: (?) it changes by level, doesn't it, Hodja? she asks. You couldn't find the root.
No root.
Yes. Remzi says: Allah's God-fearing servants and His prophets are separate.
Our child Remzi didn't find the root either. Now listen to me. I will ask you questions.
You will all know the answers to the questions I ask very well. You know them already. And we will understand the verse better.
Is it according to man's covenant? Is it according to it? Hodja, (?). (?). Çağlasan. Now we say: not according to the covenant either — I'm explaining now. And you listen to me.
Is Allah Almighty free from deficient attributes? All of you: yes, Hodja, we cannot find any deficiency in Allah Almighty. Well, as Creator, does Allah Almighty discriminate among His servants? I'm asking. You'll all say: He doesn't. He acts with justice. Well, in that case, when Allah Almighty, in the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, made the covenant with people, their own wishes — did He write them for them as destiny or not? He wrote them. You know that too. Their own desires and wishes, people's own wishes, were written for them as destiny. Now, in this case, if, as above, to man when you give a blessing, he turns away and sidesteps — when it says that, Allah Almighty could not create a single good person.
He could not create a person who would not sidestep. When He gave man a blessing, he sidestepped and went off. Then the fault is His own.
Yes. Then the fault is His: had He created a proper being, it would not have sidestepped. (?) He left people free in their will too. He did not interfere with them. So among them there will be good and bad. Among the good and the bad, in the verse too He will have made (?). It's that simple. In this case, as our child Alp said, what did we do? 'A part', or, as (?) our daughter said, 'some' or 'many' will sidestep. That is, not all of them.
Yes. The root is here. People being left free with their will. Allah Almighty is free from deficient attributes, and since in the portion (?) there are glory, fame, pride, arrogance, ego, self-importance, the feelings of the nafs and worldly desire, by people's desires and wishes to know their Lord or not, to turn to these or not — with these, people, in the face of the blessings Allah Almighty gives, their behaviour — Allah Almighty tells us this so beautifully. Now I'm telling you the correct version. When We give man a blessing, many turn away from Us and sidestep. 'Many' — that is, one knows Us and keeps one's covenant, that is, lives one's covenant — and if harm and loss touch him, many fall into utter despair. Yes, anyway, outside Islam many people, always outside Islam.
In this case, that Allah Almighty, in His justice, created from His Being a part, and since in them there are ego such as glory, fame and pride, self-importance, and the feelings of the nafs and worldly desire, of people given to people in the face of the blessing, people, in taking that blessing or not taking it, or using it or not, by the actions they take, reward and sin they earn. In this case Allah Almighty, that many of these people fall into despair, that when blessings leave their hands they flare up, that they give up hope in Allah, makes known to us. He tells us that they do not remember Allah.
Yes. In this case, Allah Almighty, that He is free from deficient attributes and that every person receives reward and sin for the deeds he himself has done, has made known to us. Otherwise, when Allah Almighty gives man a blessing, as written here, he turns away and sidesteps. And if harm touches him, he falls into utter despair. Then You could not create a good being, given that these people are in this state. But when it says many turn away from Us and sidestep: as for creation, I created you, but in your will you yourselves are free, and in knowing Me or not knowing Me, or regarding love toward matter versus the love between us, weighing in your own conscience the love between matter and Allah, which side you turn to you decide by your own desires and wishes, and within this decision, by the reward and sin you have earned you will be judged.
But We know that many of you are in this state. Yes. (?) understood.
If it's understood, say: understood. If not, say: Hodja, explain that part once more. Or say: this is not the real meaning of this. Say it, I mean.
In Surah Al-Isra, verse 83, after reading the correct version, we will move on to (?). When We give man a blessing, many turn away from Us and sidestep. And if harm and loss touch him, again many fall into utter despair. (?) may Allah be pleased with you, sir. May Allah increase your knowledge. Amen, they say. For all of us. For all of us.
Yes. (?), sir. May Allah be pleased with you, they say. May Allah be pleased with all of us. The human nafs is selfish and ungrateful. If man cannot overcome and reform the evils in his nafs with the light of faith, in the face of the blessings Allah Almighty has given, their arrogance and ego grow, and turning to satanic ways, to the immorality Allah has forbidden, they forget Allah. Yes.
Or man, (?) matter, loving the blessing Allah gave more than Allah, as if he would never die, leans his back on matter, turning his face from Allah, sidestepping, forgets Allah. When people in this state lose the matter in their hands — people who, forgetting Allah, trust in matter and lean their backs on matter — when their matter flies away from their hands, their world collapses on their heads.
Their whole state and condition — when their matter flies away from their hands, their world collapses on their heads. Their whole state and condition falls apart. They fall into despair. Even though they realize that Allah Almighty is capable of all things and that they are undergoing a test, since they act on carnal feelings they do not accept what comes from Allah, and, not knowing what to do, they wander about bewildered. Because such people have no submission to Allah Almighty, they fall into these states. However much they believe in the hereafter, they are in a state of 'I wonder'. People who are in doubt about being raised again for the hereafter, as long as they cannot tear down and throw out these suspicions in their hearts, to Allah Almighty cannot show complete submission.
Because they love the matter Allah created more than Allah, they live through these states.
