Translation

They ask you about the Spirit (Ruh). Say, “The Spirit is a Command of my Lord. You are given a very little knowledge about it.”

Tafsir

People want to know about souls. However, since our souls are a part of our Lord, we have little knowledge about them. For example, we do not know what a soul is, but we realize and understand that we have a soul. This is because we dream and in our dreams we visit many places. In this case, we perceive our souls. But information about how our souls are made has not been conveyed to human beings.

We can only give the following meaning. If the Spirit is a command of our Lord, the command is the Divine Essence itself. And the command is the will of our Lord given by Him. In this case, the universal soul is the Essence. There is no soul in any of these creatures other than human beings. In this case, He has given a part of the soul to human beings. Therefore, since He has created human beings as the best and the equal of all created beings, He has made them His addressees.

What is said in the video

Of Surah Al-Isra, we have come to verse 85. Now, the origin of what we have been talking about — here Allah Almighty — how beautifully the verses always confirm one another for us, and how beautifully we explain them by one another — here we prove it. What does He say here now? They ask you about the spirit. Say: the spirit is of my Lord's command. You have been given only a little knowledge. Yes.

Such great knowledge lies here that (?) harms a person's rights. In that case we will only say this: According to other verses, that Allah Almighty always gives value to our spirits, that our bodies are temporary mounts, that He does not address our bodies, and even that we will be questioned about our bodies, as He told us; and also in the world of the hereafter, at that address "Elestü bi-Rabbiküm", with you that we made a covenant, that He made a covenant with us; and also that our desires and wishes, our will, He wrote for us as destiny, and that what kind of person we are, through these desires and wishes and the actual deeds we have done, He makes us witness to ourselves; that in no way, not even an atom's weight of lack can be said of Allah Almighty, that He is complete, faultless, perfect, and that while we were in the world of spirits, the whole matter was settled there — He proves this to us here. What does He say?

They ask you about the spirit. Say: the spirit is of my Lord's command. You have been given a little knowledge. A little knowledge. So what is this little knowledge? We cannot know what the spirit is. But when He says a little knowledge: that the spirit is a ray, that it recognises neither matter nor meaning, and that while in the body it uses the body as a trust, as our Lord's trust, and within this body, taking on an outward appearance, so as to prove what kind of person it is, it comes to the so-called unseen world, that is, the world of mulk where Allah Almighty is not seen, so as to prove what kind of person it is — in such a state, living and appearing in bodily form, a being, we will say.

There is nothing beyond that. Going further harms the human mind. For example, for example: that from His spirit a part, a part, He created the Prophet; that from his part He created the spirits of the prophets, and from those prophets' spirits created the spirits of their peoples; then, if we take into account that all these billions of people were created from a part, since the universal spirit is Allah Almighty, of course His being will encompass this universe. It will encompass this universe.

Plus, people's fingerprints — the fingerprints of the people who come into the universe; since fingerprints do not match one another, since the frequencies each person gives off are all different, since Allah Almighty created so many forms from (?), that His whole is infinite, and that in all the worlds He is present and seeing everywhere at every moment — which our ancestors so beautifully put this way, in veiled terms: Allah Almighty is everywhere, present and seeing. When we say this, can you deny it? You say: God forbid. Right. Allah is present and seeing everywhere. Indeed, what you do not know — We know the uniqueness of your hearts.

For example, we pray, we prostrate on the ground — are we prostrating to the ground? We are in His presence. So many billions of people prostrate. To Allah, at every moment, in prostration, in separate places — is it in a place where Allah is not, in an unseen place, that they prostrate to Him? That is, if we go deeper into this, harm comes to the mind. This much is enough. If we come to the real origin, now the real origin is this. What does He say? They ask you about the spirits; say: the spirit is of my Lord's command; only a little knowledge has been given to you. And its origin is this.

We have a ray.

It is not possible to separate out the substance of this ray. That belongs to Allah alone. So what is it like? Let's say I have an apple in my hand. As an example. Prayer beads. We can know the substance of the apple. What substances is it made of? What kinds of proteins, what kinds of nutrients are in it? And which cells do these nutrients affect? These we can know. But the spirit is such a substance that none of the created beings, none, can distinguish and analyse it and say: the spirit was created or came into being in this way. But He says a little knowledge was given. How will we know? The little knowledge: that it is a ray, that it recognises neither matter nor meaning, and that in the world it governs a body (?), and that in the world of the hereafter it will be questioned and held to account; (?) that this ray is immortal, immortal — this much we know.

Has it reached the origin? Allah knows best. He is unseen in His essence. He came into being by Himself. If you had come to know its origin, you too would become a god. You would become self-created, and you would be able to create other worlds or beings within yourself, which means you would fall into the position of a god. Yes. That is why the knowledge of this has not been given. Only a little knowledge.

I suppose we have understood this part too, God willing. In parts.

People want to gain knowledge about spirits. Yet since our spirits are a part of our Lord, we have only a little knowledge about spirits. For example, though it is not known what the spirit is like, how (?) this. We perceive and understand that we have a spirit. Because we dream, and in our dreams we pass through and see many places. So we perceive our spirits. But no knowledge has been conveyed to people about how our spirits come to be. Yes.

We have said: we can only give a meaning like this. Since we wrote this for the general public, we got past this part in bits and pieces of words. After all, we said, our students will listen to us. We will open this up; so here we are giving you a somewhat broader account, a little more. We can only give a meaning like this: if it is a command of our Lord, the command is the Divine Essence itself.

Right? I am not saying it, the verse says it. What does it say now? Look, these meanings are very deep. We will bow and pass on. We can only give a meaning like this, I say. If the spirit is a command of our Lord — His command, our Lord's command, the command of His own being; the spirit of our Lord, a command of our Lord; in His essence, the universal spirit is Allah Almighty. If it is a command, the command is the Divine Essence itself. And as He said, "We sent Our command to Mary" — not Gabriel, mind you; they make it Gabriel, they say so because they are unaware of the verses. Yes, if those people heard us opening up the verses this way now, what would they say?

Yes, they would say, this man is right. This man is right. Gabriel has nothing to do with it. Yes, the command is the Divine Essence itself. And the command, given by [Him], is our Lord's will, to Himself. That is, I say: today, here, here, here, here, here, here, at every point of the universe, I will be in contact with these and these. He gives a command to Himself, He gathers Himself by Himself. His command to Himself. (?)

In that case, the universal spirit is His essence. In none of the many created beings other than humans is there a spirit. There is no spirit. So from a part of the spirit He gave to humans — from His own part He gave to humans. Therefore, since He created humans as the most excellent of the created and the noblest of creatures, He made the spirit the addressee of His essence. He made it the addressee of His essence. That is, here we want to say this: The spirit exists in no being other than man. So since the Holy Essence is a spirit, and because He gave to man (?), He created him honoured above the worlds.

He is the noblest of creation. Lekad halaknel insane fi ahseni takvim. Since He said, "I created man in the most beautiful form," and adorned him with the most beautiful forms of essence, since He gave (?) and valued man in this way, He made man His addressee. But people unaware of this, by putting a spirit into cats, dogs, plants, prove how deep inside the circle of ignorance they are. Yes.

Let's move on. There are many words to say, but I'm boiling inside like this. Boiling. The more I say, the deeper it will go. It also harms minds. It truly does. That's why with great patience, great reward, great knowledge, great spiritual unveiling, great love and affection, great surrender — these are matters that require only patience.

That is enough for this part.

We continue.
