Translation

“Or, you should make fall upon us fragments from the sky as you claim, or you should bring Allah and Allah’s angels in front of our eyes.”

Tafsir

Their third request was that the people before them had the same desire and feeling that they wanted stones to rain down on them from the sky and the punishment of Allah to come upon them. Since they were following in the footsteps of their ancestors, they had the same feelings and said to the Prophet (SAW), "You should make the sky rain stones on us, or fourthly, you should make Allah and the angels appear before our eyes.

Even when Allah and the angels appear before their eyes, the polytheists see Allah and scoff, saying that this is the Allah Muhammad believes in.

Now they come to their third demand. "Or, as you claim, you must make pieces of the sky fall upon us, or bring Allah and the angels before our eyes," it says.

Their third demand: the people before them too, with the same desire and feelings, asked for fire to rain down on them from the sky and for Allah's punishment to come upon them. Since these too were (?) of the same forefathers, having the same feelings, to the Prophet (peace be upon him) they said, "You must make pieces of stone rain down on us from the sky, or, fourth, you must bring Allah and the angels before our eyes."

Even if Allah and the angels came before their eyes, the polytheists, while seeing Allah, would mock, saying, "This is the Allah Muhammad believes in."
