Tafsir
When Allah (swt) sends His Prophets as messengers to mankind, He also gives them miracles from His Essence. These superhuman miracles prove the existence of Allah, and since all created beings and the human beings, who are the equal of all created beings, cannot duplicate these miracles, Allah proves His existence to human beings with miracles. This power, which is unique to the Essence of Allah, is called a miracle. Allah (swt) says that Allah (swt) gave Moses nine clear signs, which means that Allah (swt) gave nine miracles to Moses. Although some commentators have referred to these miracles as the Verses of Allah (swt), this verse proves that they are miracles.
According to some commentators, this verse is: 1- Do not associate partners with Allah. 2- Do not kill a man unjustly. 3- Do not commit adultery. 4- Do not eat interest. 5- Do not practice magic. 6- Do not deliver an innocent person to the sultan to kill him. 7- Do not waste, 8- Do not slander an honorable woman. 9- Do not run away from war.
If they had been given only to Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm', these Verses would have been exclusive to the Book of Torah and not included in the other Books. However, since the Qur'an is the four Books, these Verses are also mentioned in the Qur'an. Since they constitute the Shari'ah rulings, they were also given to Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.). However, Allah (swt) says that We gave Moses nine clear Signs, proving that they are miracles.
Ibn 'Abbas, one of the Companions, listed them as follows: 1- The staff that becomes a snake. 2- The hand that gives light. 3- The grasshopper. 4- The crop beetle. 5- The frog. 6- Blood. 7- Water gushing out of the stone. 8- The splitting of the sea. 9- Mount Tur frightened the Children of Israel.
Since these miracles were given to Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), Allah says: "We gave Moses nine miracles in a clear manner. By saying, "Ask the Children of Israel," Allah (swt) says to the Prophet (pbuh), "Ask the Children of Israel," Allah (swt) says to the People of Israel, who deny the Prophethood of the Prophet (pbuh), that the People of Israel, who deny the Prophethood of the Prophet (pbuh), should be given the Verses written in the Books in their hands, because they know that these miracles were written in the Torah Books in their hands. The Prophet (PBUH) tells the people of Israel, who denied the Prophethood of our Prophet (S.A.W.), to ask the Children of Israel about the Verses written in the Books in their hands and the miracles he had given to Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm', in order to prove these miracles to the Children of Israel, since they are also mentioned in the Holy Qur'an by our Prophet (S.A.W.).
(When Moses came to them, Pharaoh said to him, "O Moses! I think you are bewitched.") With these miracles, Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) appeared before Pharaoh. When he showed Pharaoh these miracles, Pharaoh did not surrender to Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' and did not give up his claim to godhood. Instead of surrendering to Allah, He is the only One, Pharaoh said to Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm': "O Musa! He did not give up his stubbornness and arrogance, saying, "I see that you are bewitched.
What is said in the video
On to the verse: what is verse 1? Verse 101. Indeed, We gave Moses nine clear signs. Go on, ask the Children of Israel. When Moses came to them, Pharaoh said to him: O Moses, I think you have been bewitched, he said.
As we all know, Moses (peace be upon him), while crossing the Sinai desert with his wife and children, says: I see a fire over there. In the cold of this night, perhaps I can bring you a fire from there so you can warm up. As he approaches the fire, when it says, O Moses, I am your Lord, he is afraid and starts to run away. O Moses, stop, He says, I am your Lord. Stop. He stops there and turns back. And to the one who declared himself a god, to Pharaoh, as a guide to the right way He sends him. And I am behind you, He says. And Moses says: My tongue has a lisp, give me my brother Aaron as a helper too.
And He says: He is a helper to you. Yes, now what does it say about this event? And when We sent him to this Pharaoh, nine miracles are shown to Pharaoh. Now, when Allah Almighty sends His prophets to people as messengers, He also gives them miracles in their own person. Because they are meant to convince. Miracles are superhuman. Events a human being cannot bring about. Who is this? Events given by Allah. For example, Salih's camel, the yellow rock, the yellow camel coming out of the rock. The Prophet (peace be upon him) performing the splitting of the moon, dividing the moon in two. Many trees, withered trees turning green, and many creatures speaking.
Many prophets have such miracles.
These superhuman miracles, as proof of Allah's existence, since all created beings and also human beings, the noblest of these creatures, cannot bring anything like these miracles, Allah thus proves His existence to people through miracles. No human being can do this miracle that Allah Almighty has shown, or anything like it; no one is capable.
This power, which belongs to Allah's essence alone, is called a miracle. So Allah Almighty saying, We gave Moses nine clear signs, means that Allah Almighty gave Moses (peace be upon him) nine miracles. Although some commentators have presented these miracles as Allah Almighty's verses, in this verse it is proven to be a miracle. That is, in this verse it is proven to be a miracle. Allah Almighty did not give Moses nine miracles. I mean, it says signs, right; He gave ten verses. What does it say? Let us read verse 83 of Surah Al-Baqarah now. Yes. What does it say? Long ago, from the Children of Israel: You will worship Allah alone.
You count. One. One.
To parents. 2. To close relatives. 3. To orphans. 4. You will do good to the poor, a pledge was taken. Yet it is a verse, (?), it says. 5. And speak kindly to people. 6. Perform the prayer. 7. Give the zakat, so We commanded. 8.
O Children of Israel! That you will not shed one another's blood, nine, that you will not drive one another out of your homes, We took a pledge from you, it says. Of course, everyone remembered it wrong. We made a covenant with you, it says. Seeing everything, you accepted these in the end. So here the ten verses are the verses given to Muhammad. These nine miracles, as Allah Almighty's miracles, that is, the nine miracles He calls nine signs, given to Moses: a superhuman power of our Lord. Now, according to some commentators, these are verses: one, do not associate partners with Allah, it says.
Two, do not kill anyone unjustly. Three, do not commit adultery. Four, do not consume interest. Five, do not practise magic. Six, do not hand an innocent person over to the ruler to be killed.
7. Do not be wasteful. 8. Do not slander a chaste woman. 9. Do not flee from battle. It says. If these verses had been given only to Moses (peace be upon him), now we are saying the opposite of this, now, that it is not these. If these verses had been given only to Moses (peace be upon him), they would be specific to the Torah and would not appear in the other books. Yet the Torah, the Psalms and the Gospel are in the Quran. Yes. Yet since the four books are in the Quran, these verses are also mentioned in the Quran. Since they make up the rulings of the Sharia, they were also given to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Yet Allah Almighty saying, We gave Moses nine clear signs, proves that these are each miracles. Ibn Abbas, of the Companions, listed them as follows, yes.
1. The staff turned into a serpent. He throws the staff, it becomes a serpent, it swallows their ropes. 2. The hand giving light. O Moses, it says, put your hand into your bosom. (?) in his hand. Now he takes his hand out. It gives off a bright white light. Yes.
Alhamdulillah. I said it in your place. Alhamdulillah. (?), brother, (?). Three. A plague of locusts. Four. Crop insects. It brings (?), it brings drought. Five. A plague of frogs. Six. Whatever water they put their hand into turns to blood. Only the water in the hands of the Israelites, the Palestinian Israelites, does not turn to blood. For those who want to take the water from their hands, (?) it turns to blood. Yes. Seven. Water gushing from the rock. Twelve springs. Eight. The parting of the sea. Nine. Mount Tur frightening the Children of Israel. It rises above them. It casts a shadow over them.
So since these miracles were given to Moses (peace be upon him), He says: We gave Moses nine clear miracles. His saying, Go on, ask the Children of Israel: since those of the Children of Israel, in the Torah books in their hands, knew that these miracles were written, since they knew it, Allah Almighty, to the Prophet (peace be upon him), by saying, Go on, ask the Children of Israel, since, to the people of Israel who deny the prophethood of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the verses written in the books in their hands and the miracles He gave to Moses (peace be upon him) are mentioned, through the Prophet (peace be upon him), in the Holy Quran, so that these miracles are proven to the Children of Israel: Go on, ask the Children of Israel, He says.
Yes.
When Moses came to them, Pharaoh said to him: O Moses, I think you have been bewitched. So with these miracles Moses (peace be upon him) stood before Pharaoh. When he showed Pharaoh these miracles, Pharaoh did not submit to Moses (peace be upon him) and did not give up his claim to divinity. Instead of submitting to the One Allah, Pharaoh said to Moses (peace be upon him): O Moses, I see that you have been bewitched, and did not abandon his stubbornness and arrogance either. Yes.
