Translation

Did you not contemplate about this word (the Qur’an)? Or this is something come which did not come to their ancestors before?

Tafsir

Do not people who deny Allah and the Hereafter ever think about these verses of the Qur'an? In its fluency and authority, it sheds light before the people with words that support each other, unlike the words of a human being. If these Qur'anic verses were the words of a human being, they would contain many words that do not agree with each other.

Nay, they also know that this is the Word of Allah. But the hatred and hatred in their hearts and the pride and arrogance in their nafs drive them away from Allah. Such people are rebellious people who have deified their Nafs and have made it their mission to associate shirk with Allah.

(Or has something come to them that did not come to their ancestors?) Has Allah, who is not another God besides Allah, addressed them and introduced Himself to them, or has a God come to you besides me, who did not come to your ancestors, that is, there is no other God besides Allah, and there is no other God besides me who has addressed your ancestors and introduced Himself to them, and you have turned your faces away from Allah and disbelieved?

What is said in the video

We have come to verse 68 of Surah Al-Mu'minun. Did they never ponder this word, the Quran, at all? Now, who are they? The disbelievers. Did they never ponder this word, that is, the Quran, at all? Or has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers of the past? it says. That is, "that did not come to their forefathers of the past" — those who, because they denied Allah, were destroyed; since nothing came to them, they were destroyed, so, that is, against the One who destroyed them, did someone else send these people a book, so that they became so rebellious against Allah? Let us read this part once more: did they never ponder this word, the Quran — that although there is no word in it (?) or belying another, since even if mankind and jinn gathered, they could not produce a (?) or produce verses that open up, meaning upon meaning, through letters — did they never ponder this, never reflect on it at all? Does Allah Almighty not say in His verse: Do you not think at all?

Do you not reflect at all? Yes. Or has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers of the past?

Do the people who deny Allah and the Hereafter not ponder these Quranic verses at all? With its fluency and its rank, unlike the word of any human being, with words supporting one another, it held a light before people. If these Quranic verses had been the word of a human being, there would be in them many words that do not agree with one another. No. They know it too. This is the word of Allah. But the rancor and hatred in their hearts, the pride and arrogance in their nafs, keep them away from Allah. Such people, deifying their nafs, have made associating partners with Allah their motto; they are rebellious people.

Or has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? Allah Almighty, besides whom there is no other god, addresses them: "Or has something that did not come to your forefathers" — that is, since there was no other god besides Allah, and to your forefathers too there was no god other than Me who called out and made Himself known, has a god other than Me come to you that did not come to your forefathers? Did he make himself known, so that you turned your faces away from Allah and denied? Yes.
