Say; “Look at the heavens and the earth (to take lesson).” But proofs and warnings won’t benefit a nation of unbelievers.

Tafsir

Allah (swt) is addressing the minds of people to show them the effect of His existence on them by showing them that there is someone who created the heavens and the earth, as well as what is between them, and that there is no one who created it, and that none of these things were created for nothing, and that everything comes to life within the framework of knowledge and wisdom.

O people! Allah invites you to guidance and salvation. Take lessons by looking at this creation. Allah (swt) is warning you with miracles, with signs and miracles, with the Verses of Allah (swt), He is shedding light in front of you. Allah, who does not expect any remuneration or reward from you for making Himself known, only expects people to know Him. In the face of this situation, Allah (swt) insists on telling people that every human being who has a soul will be guided by Allah (swt) if he knows his Lord, does what He says, follows Islam, believes in Allah (swt) and the Hereafter. People, on the contrary, are insensitive to the Word of Allah. They know that people are guests in Allah's property and that they will eventually leave this guest house and go to peace. No matter how many proofs and warnings you show to people who do not want to obey Allah, even though they see and benefit from the blessings that Allah (swt) has given them, it is useless. This is because they have had their hearts sealed when they were spirits before. They hear the word of Allah but cannot understand what it is.

What is said in the video

We read it too; we stopped at one hundred and one. Yes. What does 101 say? Say: look at what is in the heavens and the earth, and take a lesson. But proofs and warnings are of no use to a people who do not believe, it says. I suppose we didn't explain that part, it seems so to me, but let's take it from the start again. Yes. Like this: Allah Almighty, with this noble verse, tries to lead us to contemplation, to thought. What is this contemplation and thought? Allah Almighty saying in His verse 'do you never think, do you never contemplate?' — contemplation and thought: this phenomenon called nature, not made by human hand, that is, if we look at this existence Allah created, it moves on in order and harmony.

The heavens and the earth and what is between the two. Allah the Creator created them firmly and prepared the world as a ground for human livelihood, as a bed. In this case, trees, nature, fruits, so many animals, and by creating 17 thousand worlds, making the world a filter, cleaning it, and all these events Allah Almighty, to people, by spreading them before people's eyes, so that we — that there is no god but Allah and that all these worlds were created by Allah — so that this is proven. Indeed, what does it say? Say: what is in the heavens and the earth? Look and take a lesson. Take a lesson.

Today we see the world in a void. The sun and moon systems. Placing the lunar system in the sky. Those people, brainless people, those who deny Allah, who are enemies of Allah and His Messenger, who say 'nature' and, (?), make Allah forgotten, push it outside Allah, give nature life and soul, and have this world turn in order around one another — to this lifeless being they submit and say these came about by themselves — from such a one, would you expect reason? Would you expect humanity? And would you call him intelligent?

So much existence came about by itself — reason and life, life.

Let us unite, let us set up such an order, it said. Then the world was created. they also brought the world into being — as those people think, the world said: I created a being on top of me, it said, so they may benefit from me and pray to me, that is, (?) me — that is, the wretched people who, by making people worship what Allah created, try to drive them away from Allah; that this universe has an order, created with a power, with knowledge, (?) — those wretched people who say so; those who went deep in mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, going down to the roots of so many substances, and along with these substances knowing that they have a Creator — because of their stubbornness they deny Allah, so of them He says: all the fine works they have done have gone to waste.

Yes. This is Allah Almighty leading us to contemplation, to thought: look at the order of this universe, He says; at what is created in the heavens and on earth take a look and take a lesson, He says, a lesson. From what will I take a lesson in this? In the verse Allah Almighty says: every day before your eyes hundreds of miracles appear; you are blind, you do not see. I have chicks hatched from eggs in the garden. The hen almost throws herself at me. The hen that used to see me and flee throws herself at me. Thinking I will harm her chick. Turtledoves come near it. We give them (?), you know. She leaps at the turtledoves, right up onto the coop.

She chases them. Thinking they will harm my chick. If we look at all the plants or at the animals on this earth, they give birth on their own. On their own they get up right away and within an hour, half an hour, fifteen minutes they walk, they go off with their mother. An order has been set up such that they have been taught the work they will do. The work all creatures will do has also been programmed. In this case, before such an order of this universe, the more a human looks at them, the more he takes a lesson. A lesson. That is what it says anyway. But proofs and warnings are of no use to a people who do not believe. To the one who denies Allah, to the human who (?) gave his destiny that way — whatever you bring, however much proof you bring, it is of no use to them. Allah Almighty, addressing people, so as to show the effect of His existence on people: the heavens and the earth, which He created, and also that lessons be drawn from what is between them; that surely their Creator is one, and that none of these created things was created so they would say 'in vain', that everything came to life within a framework of knowledge and wisdom — addressing people's minds, Allah Almighty shows these events.

O people! Allah invites you to guidance and salvation. Take lessons by looking at these created things. At this whole universe, at the sky. They, He says, do they not look at the stars in the sky? Did We create them in vain, He says. There are the shepherd's stars. There is the pole star. Stars to guide people in the dark of night. There is the Great Bear, the Little Bear, which they (?). He laid out the sky entirely to guide people. He brought out roads for people between the mountains. With flowing rivers He gave those people life. Were these created in vain? He made the mountains the pegs of the earth.

Under them He created water reservoirs. Those water reservoirs — the mountains, the weakest points of the world — those reservoirs, from the tips of those mountains gushing them out all the way to the sea, He made flow with rivers, streams and creeks to give people life. He created roads for them, on those roads. These are not contemplated at all. Do these all come about by chance? Yes.

Now if we said that this came about by itself, what would you say? This happened by chance. Would you believe that? Can this be chance? There is someone who made it. Then you, saying 'nature', tying this to nature, changing shape in nature and turning monkeys into humans. Turning monkeys into humans. And as news from Allah's Book, that the people of the Sabbath were turned into monkeys and swine — seeing that, and seeing that those skeletons, monkey skeletons, and human skeletons are the same — although you prove that miracle of Allah, your saying man came from the ape, insisting on it, turning people from the ape shape toward the human, on television turning human shapes or ape shapes toward the human, stealing people's minds, knowingly denying the truth — you are preparing the most vicious place in Hell.

While you cannot bear the tiniest pain of the world, the fire of Hell — those (?), yards and yards, He says, to chains of fire those people bound — how will you bear them? Even now a person's hair stands on end. The hair. These people truly — foolish; like a süriyet that does not know itself, that is how I see them. Süriyet, that is, a shadow; it has the shape of a shadow, but you cannot get anything across to that shadow; it is a shadow. In the heart, in inner nature human — I mean in form human, in inner nature an animal and does not understand words; in human form, but when you look at them — for I see it like that — (?), as if beings without a spirit, without a spirit.

May Allah reform them; they are servants Allah created; Allah knows them better than we do. Other than saying 'may Allah reform them' I can say nothing, because they are Allah's servants. Jesus also says so. Did you say, He says, 'my mother and I, we are three gods, I am the son of Allah', He says. (?), he says. You are witness that I said no such thing. After me, he says — after You caused me to die, You were the witness over them, he says. But they are Your servants, he says. Your servants. Yes. That decision is Yours, he says, that is. It belongs to Allah.

O people! Allah invites you to guidance and salvation. Take lessons by looking at these created things. Allah Almighty, with warnings, with miracles, with Allah's verses, holds a light before you. Not expecting any fee or return from you for making His Self known, Allah — the only thing He expects from people is that His Self be known.

He has spread so many blessings before us. So that we enjoy every kind of substance, on our tongues fifty-six taste organs He placed. Taste organs. (?) of its sweetness. Let us eat with pleasure.

So that you do not suffer in the world, or grieve, or so that you are not bored, He placed the animals under your command. He set occupations before you. He spread every kind of His blessings over the world, so as to benefit from the seas, down to their pearls, the sea — people benefit from its mussels, from its fish; within the earth He placed its iron, its (?), its ruby, its (?) — from everything working, he earned — in return for so many blessings Allah Almighty asks nothing of us. Because He is the Creator; He has no need of us at all. Then why did He create, Hodja? He created so that His Self be known.

Then what shall we do? Say 'Allah', that is enough, He says, look. Say 'Allah'.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) also says: do not wish for death. Rather than (?) a thousand years under the earth, he says, saying 'Allah' once in the world (?) is enough. Then can we, toward Allah Almighty, who wants only that His Self be known, who wants only that we say 'Allah' — amid so many blessings He has given, can we ever fulfil our thanks? And on top of that, our turning our backs and rebelling against Allah Almighty. That is when it says: you are, (?) the four-legged ones on earth, even (?) more astray, you say. Alright. Yes. People still talk, yet they tell neither of Allah nor of His Messenger. Again they have got up in the sermon: so-and-so did this, so-and-so did that, he went there, this one went here. The Prophet used to stroke children's heads, he did this to him; well, you brought up this, you brought up that — yes, love of children is good.

The Prophet loved them too. Why? Children are the guarantee of the future, the people who will carry the religion of Islam on their shoulders and live it; and of the people living with that mind, of the people of the time, the minds of children will be stronger in the future than theirs. Because as long as it develops, everyone has wished for his own era. In the (?) of that mind, of capacity. For example, if you brought a person from 100 years ago now, he could not manage. But the children of 20 years, 10 years, 15 years from now, so that they can keep up with that thing, are already playing with computers.

In our time, if we saw an alif, would we (?) Yes. So: children's mental capacity being suited to the coming time, each person choosing his own time himself, so as to live in that time, to keep up with it, having himself programmed, according to his wishes and works — since children have a future-oriented prospect, that is, since they are further ahead than us in mind, there is benefit in our loving children. That love of ours means instilling the religion of Islam in him roughly fifty percent. Our loving him. Because the more you love him — once he loves you, he will take you as an example, he will. An example.

But if you make him loathe you, he moves away from what you do, and from you too.

Children are truly the people of the coming age. In this case. Instead of explaining it like this, he goes round and round and round for 40 years. Ahmet did this, Mehmet did this, Hasan did that, Hüseyin did this. There is neither Allah nor the Messenger.

We have grown tired of such stories all along. We were driven away. And they think they are doing something.

Then let's not tell these things, Hodja? No, let's tell them. Let's tell them. At normal times, at gatherings, in assemblies, to explain to people family livelihood, family life, you say these things. But to the whole public, make them love Allah and His Messenger in this age. People have drifted away from Allah and His Messenger. What are you telling people?

Yes.

In this case, they are people who strive to spread Allah's justice on earth and, inviting Allah's servants to guidance, wish their salvation from the heart. The people who follow these prophets also, striving to be people as Allah wishes, reforming their nafs, strive to earn Allah's pleasure. So the people who believe in Allah and the prophets, in the hereafter, saved from the torment of Hell, with the endless, inexhaustible blessings of the eternal abode of bliss will be rewarded. Allah Almighty, for such people in this world and the hereafter, regards their salvation as a debt upon Himself. That is a debt upon Me, says Allah Almighty.

Those who obey Allah and His Messenger, and who of His command do not step outside the Sharia ruling, those who obey Allah and His Messenger — except for small mistakes — who enter among the righteous servants: saving these people is a debt upon Me. In this case He shows us many examples of it. Such as? Peoples that did not obey the prophet He sent them, that overstepped the bounds — when He was going to destroy them, taking the prophet and those who followed the prophet out of there and then destroying them; that is, saving them is a debt upon Allah Almighty. Yes.
