“Oh my people! If I expel them, who could protect me from Allah(‘s punishment)? Do you not contemplate?”
Tafsir
Hazrat Noah (peace be upon him) returned to his people: O my people! If I expel them, who will protect me from the punishment of Allah?
My duty is to invite people to Allah, the only One. So if these believing people have believed in Allah, the One and only, am I not wronging them by expelling them from my presence, and am I not rebelling against Allah? Do you not think, O my people! He said, "We have no other door to go to except Allah and no other intercessor or helper except Him.
What is said in the video
There's no one, I suppose. We can move on to our lesson.
Surah Hud, verse 30: Noah's conversation with his people the verses continue. In our previous lesson too, when he addressed his people, when they said: as long as there are such wretched people with you, we will not come to you, the answer he would give them we put into words.
Them: his people's wish from Noah, that those who believed he drive away from him; in response to this, in this surah's verse 30, Allah Almighty in the verse says that Noah said this: O my people! If I drive them away, who will protect me from Allah, from His punishment? Do you not think? What was the duty of the prophets? As we all know, to convey Allah's commands to His servants. To tell His servants. Allah's commands; when Allah's servants say we heard and listened, we obeyed Your prophet, we recognized You as Lord, then these people who carry out Allah's command, the prophets who, again by Allah's command, as prophets to this people came, when they fulfill their duties, according to their desires and wishes, such persons, that is, believers, as long as they take their place in the prophet's ranks, can that prophet drive them away?
Is that possible? Can he exclude them? So what does Noah say? O my people, if I drive them away, who will protect me from Allah (?)? Do you not think? Allah Almighty, the Prophet (peace be upon him), to the prophets: when He says invite My servants to My Self, and you invite them, when My servants take their place in My ranks, if He says how did you exclude them, what answer would I give Allah, he says. Do you not think, he says. Why don't they think? Because they do not recognize a God who is one. It's because they worship idols. Yes. Noah (peace be upon him), turning again to his people: O my people, if I drive them away from me, who will protect me from Allah's punishment?
No one can protect. Because that day, He says, judgment belongs to Allah alone. That day. Which day is this? In the world of the hereafter the supreme court will be set up. Since Allah Almighty has neither a helper nor an equal, Eleysallahu bi-ahkemi'l-hâkimîn, when the judge of judges, Allah Almighty, says that day judgment is Mine alone, when within that judgment He passes His judgment, if that judgment is a judgment of punishment, who other than Allah could protect from it? It's not possible. Yes. My duty is to invite people to that one Allah, he says. Yes. And I did invite. And they believed it.
If you had believed too, you too, like them, beside me and beside Allah, in Allah's decree, would have taken your place, he says. Then how can I drive those believers away, he says. My duty: invite people to that one Allah. So if this person, these believing people, believed in that one Allah, by driving them away from me, to these people I would both have caused torment, yes, and done wrong, and wouldn't I have rebelled against Allah? Allah will say to His prophet: call My servants to Me; and the prophet will call the servants to Allah. Then when those servants take their places beside Allah (?), he will drive them away from him.
Could this ever happen? Yes. Do you never think? So, O my people, there is no door to go to other than Allah, and no intercessor and helper for us other than Him. He said. If you continue obeying and worshipping this one Allah, or believe in Him, you will prosper. Otherwise, if we are deceived by this passing worldly life and, children and (?), the wealth and property our Lord gave us, comfort ourselves with them, this one will be lost in the swamp of this world. And in the world of the hereafter he will have traded the abode of eternal bliss for the abode of eternal punishment, and we will have wronged our own nafs eternally.
