And Noah received the revelation; “None from your people other than the ones who have already believed will ever believe (in you). So, do not be saddened for what they have been committing (in sins).”
Tafsir
Allah revealed to Prophet Noah: O Noah, none but those of your people who have believed will follow you. And do not grieve for the sins of the people who are outside of them.
One grieves for the calamities that befall those who follow Allah and His Messenger. He is not sorry for the fate of those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who turn people away from the path of Allah. However, Noah, being a Prophet and a merciful person, wanted his people to be among the believers. May they not be among those who have incurred the wrath of Allah and perished.
Allah, the Owner of all, is more compassionate and merciful to His creatures. But Allah is the Owner of justice. He will not equate those who rebel against Him with those who obey Him, He will leave the wills of people to themselves and will hold them accountable for the good deeds and sins they commit, reminding Hazrat Noah (peace be upon him) of these situations: O Noah! He says, "Do not grieve for their fate because of the sins they are committing.
What is said in the video
He sent people into the world, into a lost realm. He sent them into a realm where His Being is not seen. So man, man will go having made those around him, himself and Allah witnesses to what kind of person he is. So, since Allah Almighty will call no one to account (?), He lays the responsibility from Himself onto people's backs. So, He says, do not grieve over what they are doing, over the sins. For, having lived among his people for 960 years (?), Noah (peace be upon him), of course, even if his neighbour is an enemy, somewhere it is his own homeland, the place where he grew up; that scene around him that he saw with his own eyes in the world for 960 years, and the destruction of these people, of course, saddens a person.
So here Allah Almighty comforts Noah (peace be upon him). Do not grieve for them, He says. Allah Almighty (?) to Noah (peace be upon him). None of your people will follow you except those who have already believed.
Of your people, those who will follow you, none of your people except those who have believed will follow you. Over the sins committed by the people outside these he grieved too. For they recognised neither Allah, nor prophet, nor book. They are people who will remain without anyone and alone in the hereafter; people who, in this case, are enemies of Allah and His Messenger, of the people who love Allah, who put their own selfish desires in the foreground and deify their nafs; these people, since they will never reform their nafs, since their character is like this, he grieves for them, He says.
Yes. A person grieves over the calamities that befall people who follow Allah and His Messenger. For example, Allah Almighty says the Muslim, the Muslim is a brother. If there is a Muslim on one face of the world and a Muslim on the other face, the two are brothers. Today, not only in Turkey but anywhere in the world, when harm comes to a Muslim, we grieve. We grieve. For example in Palestine, for example in Syria, for example in Afghanistan. These, for example in Iraq; these are Muslim people, and a harm that touches them truly grieves us. But with a burning heart I put a full stop here. The unbeliever, the unbeliever, the godless has so deceived the Islamic countries that in civilisation they are left behind, unable to keep step with the age; he has brought them under his rule.
(?) by making those Muslims strike one another, making them weak, exploiting the riches above and below the ground of their homelands, wanting their own nation to live in prosperity and well-being: such people. Using them as slaves, as servants, without giving them human value, wanting to keep them that way in their own service: such people. Ah, I say, ah. Why? I sigh. Abraham too, it says, used to sigh a lot. I too sigh a lot. If only this Islamic world (?). If only it stood by the people at its head who help their state and nation, who raise them up, who work in its favour, and making them the crown of its head, as one heart, one nation, one state we lived, all Muslims.
Yes. But the human nafs, fooled by a few pennies, cares neither for state nor nation nor conscience. So what must we do? There is only one thing to do. First of all a person will learn his religion. His religion: if he is weak in his religion, such events will not stop. If a person were devout; saying devout reminds me of something else. I will tell you that too.
If a person were devout, if he knew Allah is with him, could a person damage public service? Could he raise his hand against his Muslim brother? Knowing that qisas will be applied, could he go against Allah's command and harm his brother in Islam? First the non-Muslim distances them from (?) and from the book. And then he steers them in the direction he wants. Now when I say devout, an incident came to my mind. Not a story, an incident that really happened. In the naval victory of Preveza, Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha, against the enemy armies, when he came face to face with the enemy fleet on that sea, calls his aide. Bring me a devout soldier.
Devout. All of them are Muslims. All of them are Muslims. So when he says devout here: (?) to Allah, those who keep up their night prayers, people from whose hand, tongue and loins others are safe.
His aide knows such a soldier. He brings him. Before Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha. My son, he says. Hang this writing at the top of the mast, he says.
That writing in the Quran, Surah Al-Fath: İnnâ fetahnâ leke fethan mübînâ. Yes. To you too we will soon give a victory, it says. When he hangs that writing at the top of the mast, the wind turns around. This time it turns in Barbarossa Hayreddin Pasha's favour. So if we were devout people, if we knew our religion well, if we were bound to Allah and His Messenger beautifully, with all our heart, could we do these evils? Look at those who do these evils; I said earlier, a word came out of my mouth. Look, do they recognise Allah, book, Messenger, I said. Except the oppressed among them. That is, except those used as tools.
If they too say (?) Islam, stamp them: hypocrite. They have nothing to do with Islam. They are provocateurs. Those who sell their religion for a few pennies. Those who commit treason against the homeland.
That's why first of all we sigh, don't we; ah, because we do not know our religion well, that's what I burn for, that's why I sigh.
We cannot bond with each other.
We cannot weed out the bad among us. We leave everything to the state. Just as the people gathered there stand up against 76 million people and gather there, why don't the other people surround them on all sides and smother them there? Before the state gets there, they would settle the score. Before the state gets there. For they are people who (?) this homeland, who do no work at all in the homeland's favour, people who harm the state. Today it is like this all over the world. All over the world, in the Islamic world, it is like this. In the Islamic world. You find this very little among the unbelievers.
Why do you find it very little? Because the unbeliever's law is harsh. They say 'do not use excessive force', don't they; they know very well what excessive force is. They also know that they cow the people by using excessive force. They themselves, their police (?), and by using excessive force they make their people obedient to their laws. And when it comes to someone else: do not use excessive force, side with the provocateurs and those who oppose your state. Then, if you are advancing the state, those provocateurs are right. You cannot advance your state. You cannot stand by this nation. Bravo, eh.
Just look at that. Just look at that. The man has been caught and is being taken away. We will be proven right, he says. We will win, he says. Let's see what he will win. These men, not against your own soldiers, not against your own police, if you drive them to war, would they go, I wonder? If you drove them to war, would they go? Once they rose up against the sultan, the sultan. In recent times; I can't recall the sultan's name. They rise up against the sultan. Hey!
You're not attacking this unbeliever, you're not doing this, not doing that. They rise up. And the sultan says, fine. Now I will rise up. Come, gather round, he says. He drives them to the front of the army. Everyone ran for it. Everyone ran for it. These are people of that kind.
Anyway. Back to our lesson. That's why we sigh that sigh. I sigh because we do not know Islam, our religion.
I (?) any harm to come to our brother in Islam. So a person grieves over the calamities that befall those who follow Allah and His Messenger. Yes; otherwise, over the fate of those who did not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who turned people away from Allah's path, one is not to grieve. (?) Noah, being a prophet and merciful, wished that his people too would be among the believers, that they would not be among those destroyed by incurring Allah's wrath. Allah, the Owner of them all, is more compassionate and merciful towards His creatures. But Allah Almighty is the Owner of justice. Since He will not treat equally those who rebel against Him and those who obey, leaving people's wills to them, and will call them to account for the good deeds and sins they commit, He reminds Noah (peace be upon him) of these matters, that is: over the sins they are committing, over the fate that will befall them, do not grieve, He commands.
Yes.
