They will say; “They belong to Allah”. Then say, “Will you not think?”

Tafsir

In the previous verse, in response to the verse which he presented as the first evidence, Allah (swt) responds to those who deny Allah that they will say that they are Allah's without any hesitation. Allah (swt) answering in their place is just like at Kalu Bela, when our souls made a covenant with Allah and He said, "I am your Lord", and in response to the denial of the souls there, Allah (swt) said in their place, "They said yes". We have explained this in previous lectures, and it is worth mentioning it again here.

Allah Ta'ala has given each of our souls, in the spirit world, what we call the intellect maad, and taught it to speak. So when Allah and humans make a covenant, when Allah says, "I am your Lord," our souls understand that Allah is speaking because they know how to speak. At the same time, since the intellect in our souls realizes that it was created, they know that there is an Allah. But because Allah created human beings close to His Essence, they did not recognize Allah, Who created them, and they disbelieved.

That is why Allah did not take into account the disbelief of these people who disbelieved in Him, for He knew that every soul was created and that there is an Allah. Therefore, when they said, "We were created and there is an Allah," Allah did not take into account their denial of Allah with their tongues, but instead, when they said, "I am your Lord," Allah said, "Yes," because they knew that Allah existed.

And in this verse, our spirits, within our bodies, and with the power of the spirit, make our tongues in our bodies speak in their favor by misleading them into disbelief. Therefore, Allah speaks the truth in the place of this group of disbelievers, those who disbelieve in Allah, and they know that this world and all that is created, animate and inanimate, human and jinn, was created by Allah. In order to prevent the disbelief of these disbelievers, Allah answers on their behalf by defending the Truth. He says that they will say it is Allah's. So, even though you know all these truths, do you not ponder, do you not submit to Allah? Do you never give thanks for what Allah has given?

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 85. They will say: it belongs to Allah. They know this. Because every mind knows that it was created by a Lord; so that Creator created these worlds. They will say: it belongs to Allah. Then will you not think and reflect at all? it says.

In the previous verse, in response to the verse He presented as the first proof, Allah Almighty gives the answer for those who deny Allah: without hesitating at all, they will say it belongs to Allah. Allah Almighty answering Himself in their place is just like at Qalu Bala, when our souls made the covenant with Allah, when He said I am your Lord, in response to their souls there denying, Allah, in their place, as an answer to people, said they said yes. They said yes. And the meaning of the yes here is:

you are not the one creating us. Yes, I was created. So the mind knows it was created, but it is not You. It is not You who created us. Just as they know that they themselves were created, without any hesitation they also know that these worlds were created by a Lord. For this reason, because they know this, they worship idols. Because they know this, they worship stars. Because they know this, they worship monkeys, this and that. Yes. They know that there is a creator. And this is the proof of it.

It is just as Allah, in their place, as an answer to people, said they said yes. We also explained in earlier lessons how this is so. We find it useful to touch on it here too. Allah Almighty gave each of our souls, in the realm of souls, the mind, the mind we call ma'ad, and taught it to speak. Of course; if you did not know how to speak, you were suddenly created, to an empty head play drum and zurna as much as you like. No sound comes. But He has engraved it. He has engraved it into the memory. He gave memory, memory. He engraved it into that memory.

From whichever people one coming into the world will come, that speech too He has engraved into that memory. He makes Jesus speak in his mother's womb. He makes him speak as a baby. He has engraved it into the memory. Look at children. When they complete their first year, they start to speak. Where did you speak from? Where did you learn iron, plate, fork, spoon, water, this, that? Where did you learn this? So it is there, and it begins to come out little by little. As the memory opens up, the memory speaks nicely from there. There is memory too. If it had not been so, from where would you have understood our Lord's words: I created you?

So it is there in the memory. But because he is a child, the memory is closed. With time the memory develops and opens. Yes.

Allah Almighty gave each of our souls, in the realm of souls, the mind we call aql al-ma'ad, and taught it to speak. So when Allah and people were making the covenant, when Allah Almighty said I am your Lord, because our souls knew how to speak, they understood that Allah Almighty was speaking. At the same time, since the mind in our souls perceives that it was created, it knows that there is an Allah. But because Allah created people close to His essence, people did not recognise the Allah who created them and veered into denial.

Because Allah Almighty knows that each soul knows it was created and that there is an Allah, He did not take into account the denial of these people who deny Him. For this reason, since they themselves also know, saying: we were created and there is an Allah, Allah Almighty did not take into account their giving the lie to Allah with their tongues. In their place, because they know Allah's existence, in response to the question I am your Lord, Allah Almighty said: they said yes. Yes. So in this verse too, our souls, within our bodies, by the power of the soul, turning the tongue in our body to denial, make it speak in their own favour.

In this respect Allah, in place of this community of disbelievers, those who deny Allah, speaking the truth: they too know that this world and all existence, living and non-living, including humans and jinn, all these created things were created by Allah. So in order to prevent these disbelievers from veering into denial, defending the truth, Allah answers in their place. He said: they will say it belongs to Allah. Then, although you know so many truths, will you not think and reflect at all? Will you not submit to Allah? Will you never give thanks for what Allah has given? Yes, they too know. But because of their denial, they turn their backs on Allah.
