Before that, Allah also had sent down the Furqan as a guidance to mankind. Verily, there is a severe punishment for those who deny Allah’s verses. Allah is Azeez (Exalted) and Dhuntiqam (the One who does not leave things unaccounted for wrongdoers).
Tafsir
Allah (swt) had sent down the Torah and the Gospel and the Furqan to guide mankind.
Before Allah (swt) created the worlds, He existed with Himself. He created His Messenger from his light. From his light He created the worlds. Then He gave the Prophet (s.a.w.) his soul. He brought and placed man in the realm of property so that they could recognize and worship His Essence. With the intellect He gave to man, man should have known Allah. However, since Allah is free from imperfect attributes, people should not say, 'My Lord, you brought me to the realm of property and placed me in it, but you did not make me acquainted with your Essence.
That is why Allah sent prophets and books to mankind so that His Essence could be known and recognized. In this regard, He has sent books, prophets and messengers to people since ancient times. With many miracles, He made His Essence known to people. One of the verses says: "I am closer to you than your jugular vein".
Allah, who is closer to us than our jugular vein, is telling us that He is with people in a way that makes them feel His presence.
O people! Just as I have sent books and prophets to the people who have passed through the world since its foundation, I will address people unseen until the Day of Judgment by veiling Myself with the Holy Qur'an, which I have sent to you. I am eternal. According to the verse, "All souls will taste death," he says that you will be held to account in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment.
That is why Allah says: "Know that for those who disbelieve in the Verses of Allah there is a severe torment". Allah (swt) means by this Ayah;
O people! I have so far introduced My Essence to you and proved My existence. I gave to those before you the Furqan, the Torah and the Gospel, and tested them with them. As people made a covenant, they held themselves as witnesses against Allah and went away. Now it is your turn. I have sent you the Qur'an, and I did not send you to the realm of property to play a game and a toy. If you turn your backs on your Lord and deny the Verses out of your own self-glory, pride and arrogance, after I have introduced you to My complete Self, you should know well that there is a severe torment for them. (Allah, the absolute Owner and Ruler of the universe, will surely separate the good from the bad, the worshipper from the worshipped, the rebellious from the obedient. No one will be able to tell Him to do this and that or to forgive this offender. Because he has absolute power. So no one can interfere in Allah's affairs or suggest anything to Him. Allah will do whatever He wills. Therefore, the gathering of man and jinn will not be able to overpower Allah. Surely every human being will be rewarded for what he has done.
What is said in the video
We come to Surah Al-Imran's fourth verse; (?) at the fourth we had stopped. Before this, too, to guide people to the right path, He sent down the Torah, the Gospel and the Furqan. So when it says 'and the Furqan', it is the Zabur itself. What does it say in these beautiful verses? Before this, too, to guide people to the right path, the Torah, the Gospel and the Furqan He sent down. Know that for those who deny Allah's verses there is a severe punishment. Allah is the One of absolute power who deals with the guilty.
So look what Allah Almighty means with this verse. Before this, to guide people to the right path, the Torah, the Gospel and the Furqan He sent down. Allah Almighty created people deficient in intellect. Because He created them deficient, people in the world of mulk, in the unseen world, will surely make mistakes as far as their intellect reaches, will find the truth too, and will fall short too. Since man's intellect was created deficient, if the mistakes and shortcomings become too many, people suffer oppression on earth. They suffer torment. They become restless. Their mind cannot grasp it. They also do things deficiently. So Allah sends prophets, scholars, books. Books.
He sends books to show the right path. He sent down the Torah, the Gospel and the Furqan.
Allah Almighty does not will that the people He created suffer oppression. Because His mercy has embraced the universe. In this case, especially since He left people to their own will, Allah Almighty, abundant in mercy, abundant in pardon and forgiveness, sheds light for people with His verses. With His verses.
In this case, know that... we continue with the verse. Know that for those who deny Allah's verses there is a severe punishment. The reason?
As we just told our daughter Sultan, as she stated in the question she wrote, as we said in the couplet, in the couplet of Hazrat Yunus Emre: even if you read the four books a day and give them meaning, (?) what use; and despite that, also know that, to people who have fallen for the passion of leadership, turned their back on Allah, worshipped only the world, deified their own nafs and pushed Allah's commands, Allah's limits, and stepped outside them. Our Lord, so that he prove in his lifetime what kind of person he is, gave him a life, and until the end of that life, so that through the deeds he does he increase his own oppression or his own kufr, He gave him respite, and that person, (?) his own nafs, having proven what kind of person he is and completed his life, when the command comes true, every soul shall taste death.
and finally, according to the verse that says your return is to Allah, to Allah Almighty, when he travels to the Hereafter, then, know that for those who deny Allah's verses there is a severe punishment, it says. Allah protect us.
He is the One of absolute power who deals with the guilty, it says. Who deals with the guilty. Let no such thing ever come to your mind. The Jews went so far in counting their lineage, it says, that they began counting the dead in the graves too, it says. Your lineage, even if you are from the descendants of the people who came into this world, even if from your loins or from their loins, even if all of these are in your (?) (?), no created being can overpower Allah. So know this: Allah Almighty, the One of absolute power, will deal with you and will (?) your account. Yes. In this case, how did we explain this verse in our tafsir?
Let's see. Allah Almighty, before this too, to guide people to the right path, sent down the Torah, the Gospel and the Furqan. In our last lesson, when one of our children asked, Hodja, what is the Furqan, we had said that the Furqan is the Zabur. So the four books: the Furqan, that is the Zabur, the Torah and the Gospel. The fourth book is the Holy Quran. They are gathered in it. The Prophet (peace be upon him), by his attribute of ve mâ erselnâke illâ rahmeten li'l-âlemîn, because he is a mercy to the worlds, the four books, the Holy Quran, He sent to the Prophet (peace be upon him). Confirming the books before it, as a prophet to all people He sent him.
Is there a verse about this, 'to all people'? There is. Where? In Surah Saba. The 28th verse. Shall we read it? Let's read it. We have written it here anyway. What does it say? Verse 28. Ve mâ erselnâke illâ kâffeten li'n-nâsi beşîran ve nezîran ve lâkinne ekseri'n-nâsi lâ ya'lemûn. Look now what it says. We have sent you to all people only as a bearer of good news and a warner. But most people do not know this, it says.
Most people do not know this. That is, because they deified their own nafs, although Allah Almighty sent the Holy Quran as the truth, and He calls it truth, since the Torah and (?) Gospel are in it, the Holy Quran that is the truth, despite His sending it, out of the desires of their nafs, because he did not come from their lineage, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) they denied, and they became wrongdoers against their own selves. That is what most people do not know, it says. Do not know what? What? That before the worlds were created, He willed to create man. That Allah Almighty willed to create man and would give a part of His essence to that man, and that He first created from the light of the Prophet, then gave him of His spirit, created from his spirit the spirits of his peoples, and that all people were indirectly created from the spirit of the Prophet, most people do not know, it says.
They do not know. Are the dead and the living ever equal, it says. The dead and the living. These are dead people.
When we say dead, it does not necessarily mean the dead lying in graves. Those whose heart and nafs have found no nourishment. Even those who think themselves scholars and, with superstitions as their rule, tell people lies and wrong things, are dead too.
Yes. What did we say? We continue with our tafsir. Allah Almighty, before this too, to guide people to the right path, the Torah, the Gospel and the Furqan He sent down. Before creating the worlds, Allah Almighty subsisted by His own essence. He willed, and created His Beloved and, from his spirit, from his light, the worlds. He brought man to the world of mulk and settled him there, so that they would know His essence and worship Him. With the intellect He gave him, man ought to have known Allah. But since Allah is free of deficient attributes, so that people would not say: My Lord, You brought me into the world of mulk, settled me there, and did not make Your essence known to me.
Indeed, who am I? I came into this world of mulk, I know no one. Although the intellect has the Hereafter world recorded in the brain, it is encrypted, locked. I do not remember those worlds; our Lord has locked them. With what? A computer's program you cannot enter without the password, but the program is in that computer, it is there. So that world is in us, but encrypted. How is it encrypted? If you reform your nafs, you will crack those codes. You will step into those worlds and understand. So I have started from zero in this world. I do not know who I am, what I am. So Allah Almighty makes me know myself.
I entered the will to create a human, says Allah Almighty. My Messenger from My light; to him I gave of My spirit. Then We called you to account in that realm of lahut. Although We told you We are your Lord, there some of you denied and some of you said yes. We sent you to a (?) world so that, My Lord, there You created me, I could not know You as befits Your essence, so Allah Almighty, free of deficient attributes, says: I sent you to the world of mulk, now I make Myself known to you in the world of mulk too. With what? With verses. With what? With scholars. With what? With nabis. With what? With prophets. He makes Himself known. And after that He says: for a thing We have not made known, We call no one to account.
Today people as far as the poles know Islam. Yes. So with the intellect He gave him, man ought to have known Allah. But to you, He says, Our mercy reached; scholars, prophets and books We sent so that you would know Us. So Allah sent people prophets and books so that His essence would be recognized and known. For this reason, since ancient times, books, prophets and nabis He sent to people. With many miracles He made His essence known to people. In a verse He says: I am closer to you than your jugular vein. Allah Almighty, who is closer to us than our jugular vein, in a way that makes people feel His essence, by being with them, tells us this, we say.
What will He tell? To our jugular vein; closer than we are to our jugular vein. How close? Every person, every person thinks: who am I, where did I come from, where did I come from? From my mother and father. Where did he come from? From his mother and father. Where did that one come from? He goes backwards, goes on, and finally comes to one person. And who created him? So there is one Allah, he says. There is one Allah. That is, there is someone who created us, he says. This all minds know. From where do they know?
(?) Ve eshabül meymeneti ma eshabül meymenet. O you of the right. Ve eshabül meşemeti ma eshabül meşeme. O you of the left, it says. Ve's-sâbikûne's-sâbikûn ulâike'l-mukarrabûn fî cennâti'n-naîm. A third group. The group of the foremost. Where are they? In the realm of lahut, in three companies. And before them Allah Almighty says: I am your Lord. This is certain, certain. Am I not? No. I am your Lord. The Prophet is beside Him too. Yes. Confirming that this is our Lord. (?) That this is our Lord. Upon this, because people still saw Allah as close to themselves, they wait for the Lord of their own imagination.
He will hang down from the sky, and they will fear Him and prostrate to Him. Yet Allah Almighty would create such a being that, without (?) anyone, without (?), man would know his Lord through his own being.
He says it in His verse anyway. Had We willed, He says, We would have made you prostrate with angels hanging down from the sky.
We will come to those verses later, inshallah. In this case, look at the value He gives to man. Look at man knowing his Lord by himself. And look at man who, with his own nafs, deifying his own nafs, the Lord who created him not approving, carried away by fame, pride and arrogance, denies his Lord, look at that man. Eyvallah. Yes.
Even so, come, He says, now I will send you to the (?) world.
But He gives them their wishes there as their destiny. He inscribes them into them as characters. Wherever they are, in the direction of their own desires and wishes, Allah Almighty creates causes. And by doing those deeds they earn reward and sin. In this case, before themselves, those around them and Allah Almighty people hold themselves as witnesses. Witnesses. Yes.
So every human, ever since the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, knows in his own being that a Lord created him.
No human, even the human who denies Allah, even if he tries to prove there is no Allah, knows that he was created by a Lord. He knows this. Because he knows this, he engages in proofs that lead to denying Allah's existence. Like Darwin. Like Darwin, who was a disbeliever. The very disbeliever who tied everything to the universe, to changes in the universe. If everything in the universe changes and there is intellect and life in them, if with this intellect and life those beings can have this change, then man, the most honorable creation, who has passed through ages until now, has gone hand in hand with technology, and though there is no creature created more honorable than him, animals would have to possess technology superior to these humans.
If it can change itself. Such wretched people, so lacking in understanding, sinking deeper and deeper to deny Allah, wretched people.
Yes.
So every possessor of intellect says within himself, a Lord created me, and as proof of this Allah Almighty shows them verses and miracles. Well, Hodja, I don't see miracles in this age. Didn't Allah Almighty favor them? In this age you see more miracles than in that age. Proven, proven. Come now, if you saw a karamat from me, if you saw this as a miracle, you would say this man did magic, you would say he did it through jinn, you might not believe me. But the manifestation of the verses: 1400-odd years ago in the Holy Quran it was written, We have brought together the sweet and the salt water, they never meet, He said, that is, there is a barrier between them, they do not mix, He said; and they found this verse in the Strait of Gibraltar.
Is it not a miracle? A sign of Allah. In an age when your mind works scientifically and technologically, One who created this like this and earlier in the Book made it known to you, if there is such a Being, if there is a Creator, that means He is the Lord who created you. Yes. Look how beautiful. He makes every kind of proof upon you.
What does Allah Almighty say now? In making His essence known to us. O people, O people, since the world was founded, to the people who have passed over it, to you and to those after you, with the books I sent and the Holy Quran, veiled from His essence, My essence also veiled, I will address people in the unseen, He says, in the unseen, Allah Almighty. How did I address those before you in the unseen? In your time too, and to those after you, I will speak in the unseen. Yes. What does it say now? Hüve'l-evvelü ve'l-âhiru ve'z-zâhiru ve'l-bâtın. I am the Everlasting, He says, Everlasting, yes. Without beginning and without end. Every soul shall taste death, according to the verse. In the end, on the Day of Judgment, you will be called to account in My divine presence, He says. He reminds people of this.
In this case, if, as far as Allah Almighty has told us, according to the verse where He says, will you not use your intellect, you do not use your intellect and your nafs overpowers your intellect, with your nafs and with Satan you remain exposed to Allah's punishment. But if your intellect knew your Lord is the Creator, and that in the end in His presence you will be called to account, if you conduct your affairs accordingly, overpower your nafs and pay no heed to Satan's temptation, you too will attain Allah's mercy. Yes.
In this respect, Allah: it must be known that for those who deny Allah's verses there is a severe punishment, He declares. Allah Almighty's intent with this verse.
Again, look what our Lord commands us in this verse. O people, though I have made My essence known to you this clearly, My existence I have proven. He proves it. He does not call you to account without proving it anyway. To those before you, giving the Furqan, that is the Zabur, the Torah and the Gospel, I tested them with these. According to the covenant people gave, they held themselves witnesses before Allah and departed. now it is your turn, He says; our turn. they departed; (?), earlier, as Allah Almighty made known, with scholars, prophets, nabis, with His verses, though He made the truth known to them, they did what they would do, either obedient or (?) they departed; now it is your turn, He says.
Ours. How will we go? As deniers? Or, after our Lord's existence over us is proven, as obedient to Allah Almighty? That is, by doing His commands? Yes.
Now it is your turn. To you too I sent the Quran, He tells us.
I did not send you to the world of mulk to play games and toys, He says. In one verse He says this world of mulk is not merely play and amusement. In another verse He says it is merely play and amusement, He says. According to what does He say this? Since this world is the likeness and shadow of the Hereafter, you are playing a game here. The game of what? Long before, in the realm of lahut, at that address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, your desire and wish towards Allah Almighty We gave you as your will, that is, We gave your will to you as destiny. You had that destiny written there as a script, you are acting it in the world as actors, He says. You are an actor here, He says.
In one verse He says this world is not merely play and amusement. What does He say? O man, open your eyes. If I sent you to this world, in the unseen to believe in your Lord's existence I sent you, and you are obliged to worship the Creator. If (?) do not do what I say, I will punish you where needed, in the places needed, He says. Go ahead. You must know the verses well.
Yes.
Yes.
to you too I sent the Quran; I did not send you to the world of mulk to play games and toys. After I have made My essence so completely known to you, if out of the grandeur of your nafs, out of your pride and arrogance, you turn your back on your Lord and deny the verses, this you must know well: for them there is a severe punishment, He says.
Allah is the One of absolute power who deals with the guilty. Allah, the absolute Owner and Ruler of the universe. Surely He will separate the good and the bad, the one who worships from the one who does not, the rebel from the one who is not, the obedient one. Why will He separate them? The rewards and sins one has earned according to the deeds one did, their separation belongs to Allah alone. He will separate them. No one will be able to say to Him, let us do this like that, or let us forgive this guilty one. Why will they not be able to? Is there a verse? Of course there is. I do not speak without a verse anyway.
On that day the judgment is Mine alone, He says. Which day? At that Great Tribunal. There is no god besides Allah who could judge in Allah's place. So on that day the judgment is Mine alone, He says. So on that day, because people speak in the presence of their Lord, Allah Almighty says to them: be silent, He says to them. Be silent, do not quarrel in My presence. In His presence.
Because He is the One of absolute power. That is, no one can interfere in Allah's affairs or make Him any suggestion. Where? At the Great Tribunal. Whatever Allah wills, He carries out. Because He is free of deficient attributes. For this reason, even if mankind and jinn gathered, they could not overpower Allah. Surely every person will certainly find the recompense of what he did. According to what? The acts of worship you have done, the deeds you have done are what your two hands earned. According to the verse. Today no injustice will be done to you; what you have earned, fully, completely, will be given to you, He says.
Where? Again at the Great Tribunal. On that Day of Reckoning. Yes.
