Tafsir
Those who have hatred in their hearts against Allah and His Messenger and those who rebel against Allah, their love is for the things that Allah has created, such as wealth, property and children. When such people give their love to these things, they forget Allah even more and pursue their own desires. It is as if they came to this world to eat, drink and enjoy themselves. In this state, they forget their Creator and go about their lives in irresponsibility, living day by day. When they are reminded of Allah, they lose their joy and their hearts are filled with hatred and depression. They know that Allah exists, but they want to forget Allah because of their egoistic desires. They continue their lives away from Allah. These people have forgotten the purpose of their creation, and with this kind of behavior, it is as if they will escape death and will not be held accountable before Allah. These people, who are rebellious against Allah, ignore the Hereafter and say, "Who has been and who has come to the next world? They themselves do not believe what they say. They spend their lives in arrogance and pride, relying on their wealth and children. Then they say that heaven is my right. They make their own decisions. In this situation, they live in rebellion against Allah. They follow the footsteps of Shaytan and sell their eternal life for worldly wealth and entertainment, with the love of greatness that their children and children, wealth and property give to their nafs. Neither their wealth nor their children will benefit them. Their good deeds have been in vain. They will be left alone in the Hereafter with no provisions. They have neither a helper nor an intercessor.
(They are the kindling of Hell); such people ate and drank the blessings of Allah and never once gave thanks to Allah. Allah created human beings so that His Essence may be known, but human beings bear a grudge against Allah and turn their backs on Him. Allah showed the paths of guidance, but man followed his ego and his enemy Shaytan, so he forgot Allah. In the Hereafter, Allah will turn His back on such people and Allah, the Almighty, will ignite them as kindling for Hell. May Allah protect the Ummah of Muhammad from such torments.
What is said in the video
Nobody is asking a question, we can begin with our lesson.
We stopped at verse 10 of Surah Al-Imran.
Allah Almighty, look what He decrees here: it must be known that neither the wealth nor the children of those who disbelieve, before Allah, will be of any benefit to them. Those are the kindling of hell, He says. So neither people's children nor their wealth bring them any benefit in the presence of Allah. Because the inheritance of the heavens and the earth, as I said a moment ago, belongs to Allah. Whatever was created, from the atom to the globe, Allah created; what Allah created will remain to Allah. The true owner of the inheritance is Allah Almighty. And we, on this earth, with what our Lord has given us, to prove what kind of person we are, are being tested with what our Lord has given.
In that case, on the Day of Resurrection, in the presence of Allah Almighty, they will wish that, even if they had as much wealth again as this world and gave it to Allah Almighty as ransom, they might be saved.
Since the Creator needs nothing, a ransom is not needed by Him, it does not befit Him. Because when He wills? He creates. That is, as in the verse: when He says "Be", He creates. In this case, so that Allah Almighty would need nothing in the universe, He created this whole universe without any deficiency. In this case, He shows man the ways of the hereafter. What will be needed there, what will he need, how will he answer before his Lord, and how will he live in the world? Allah Almighty made these known to us in the Holy Quran with the rulings of the Sharia. Now what does He say? It must be known, it must be known for certain (?), that those who disbelieve, that is, those outside the religion of Islam, those who turn their backs on Allah's verses, as I said a moment ago, those who partner with Satan in the desires of the self, the Taghut, these, by acting outside Allah's commands, competing with one another on earth, show one another off as stars.
Today's stars, people whom the media has made out to be stars, who their own glory and fame trample underfoot, in human feelings, people who live as they please; these are those who disbelieve: neither their wealth nor their children, in the presence of Allah, will be of any benefit to them. Those are the kindling of hell. Yes. In this case I say to people: O people, use your reason. What does Allah Almighty say in His verse? Do you not use your reason at all? Do you not reflect at all? How shall we use our reason? First you will ask yourself. Who am I? Where did I come from? where am I going? Where did I come from, where am I going?
Am I truly an aimless being in the world? Or am I someone created by someone, who acts outside His commands and prohibitions? Or am I a person worthy of His commands? If you cannot ask yourself this, you cannot return to your eternal Lord. Your self and Satan, and the world besides, drag you into the swamp. Yes. One day I had a dream. A dream. I come to a place. The person there asks me. Where did you come from? Where are you going? I have that question ready. In my dream. I had the question ready, but so as not to (?), I said, my ears are hard of hearing. Could you repeat your question? The person said, where did you come from, where are you going?
By Allah, I said, I came from there and I will go there. They said, come in, inside. I went inside; Allah and His Messenger are there. If you do not know the place you came from, and cannot know the place you will go, from your Lord's presence you will be cast out. Yes.
Yunus Emre expresses this so beautifully too. He who cannot know where he came from and where he goes is an animal, he says. Yes. That is why, again with our Lord's verse, I call out to you. Use your reason.
Prepare for the future. We are all in a guesthouse in this world. Perhaps we said it in our lessons before. We are travellers.
If this journey of ours, our travel, we can complete successfully, we find peace where we go. If not, if on this journey we jump right and left, our Lord, who watches us to see what we will do on the journey, keeping us constantly in view — when we, outside His commands, complete this journey, at the place we arrive, in the divine presence, into the place of which He says, what an evil place of return that is, you will be put. Where is that? Hell, the place of punishment.
Here, in our tafsir, so that the general public would understand, our book we wrote; let us read from there what we wrote. Those who harbor hatred for Allah and His Messenger in their hearts and those who rebel against Allah, their love to the wealth, property and children Allah created is directed. The proof of this: take a non-Muslim's life, don't take his wealth. Try it; their gods are matter. Such people, by giving their love to these, forget Allah even more and chase after the desires of the self. as if they had come to this world to eat, drink and enjoy themselves. In this state they have forgotten their Creator, and go on with their lives irresponsibly, living for the day.
The story of the cicada and the ant comes to my mind, you all know it. The cicada, in the month of August, enjoys itself on the branch. All the time, sir, it plays music, chirps cri-cri-cri. The ant keeps preparing for winter. Winter comes, the cold, the cold weather, arrives at the door.
The cicada is bent double. It comes to the ant: a place to shelter me, and a morsel of bread, or else I'll die, it says. The ant gives it this answer. instead of singing and having fun all summer, you should have prepared for winter, it says, and the door it shuts on it. So the people who come to this world for pleasure and fun, those who say, after this, beyond death, is there really life? Those who, Allah's verses, turn their backs on them, on the Day of Resurrection
They — that abode of bliss is closed in their faces, the doors of that abode of punishment are opened to them.
As if they had come to this world to eat, drink and enjoy themselves. In this state they have forgotten their Creator; irresponsibly, living for the day, they go on with their lives. When Allah is mentioned to them, their joy vanishes, their hearts are gripped by hatred and distress. Hodja, how do you know?
This is entirely inner, a book written by taking on people's feelings while it was written.
Not one written with the intellect. Indeed, if it were written that way, you would not find these feelings. And truly, ask those people. Oh, is now the time for Allah, they say. When is the time, then? They truly become distressed. In fact, look what Allah Almighty decrees in a verse. On the Day of Resurrection, when they realize they will enter hell, their eyes, He says, turn sky-blue, and they throw themselves face down on the ground, He says. We have them seized by their forelocks by those in charge and thrown in through a narrow gate of hell, He says. Yes. Because they know that Allah exists, forgetting Allah is what they want.
They go on living far from Allah. Because the whims of the self do not want to remind them of Allah's existence. Because it deprives them of their pleasures. What did we say? The self never draws people to Allah's verses. It always stands against them. How was the self created? It will eat, drink, have intercourse, walk, take, it will be egoistic and selfish, it will be carried away by glory and fame. It will always be in plenty. That is the state of the self. So our Lord, with the spirit and reason He gave that person: if you master this self of yours, do not do what it says, and turn to what your Lord, who created you, says, I will make you mighty.
That is, I will raise you. I will exalt you. If you follow what it says and turn your back on Me, I will abase you, He says. Look at today. Let him be a trillionaire if he likes. Let the wealth of the world be his.
Pay attention to such wealthy people who live like that. They have neither glory nor fame. Glory and fame: theirs is the glory and fame among themselves, outside the religion of Islam, pushing Allah's limits. It is glory and fame that Allah does not want. They too are stars among themselves. Of what? Stars of the swamp.
And if these are stars of the swamp in this world, in the hereafter they are the kindling of hell. So says Allah Almighty.
So one must not be carried away by this.
Yes. Because they know that Allah exists, they want to forget Allah. They go on living far from Allah. These people have forgotten the purpose of creation; with this behaviour, as if they would escape death and not appear before Allah to be called to account. These people who rebel against Allah, disregarding the hereafter, say: who has gone to the other world and come back? To satisfy their selves.
They themselves do not believe the words they say.
They say so with words of the self, but they themselves do not believe it. Because their speech and their inner world contradict each other, Allah Almighty says in His verse that their hearts are restless and scattered. That is how it is. Because every mind knows that Allah exists. It knows that it was created by a Creator. In this case, for the person who sets out to deny: the existence of his Lord over him in the mind, His ruling within it — when the decision he gives himself and the ruling of the mind contradict, these are, on the earth, the ones whose hearts are scattered and restless: such people.
In this case they themselves do not believe what they say. Who has gone to the other world and come back, they say. They spend their lives in arrogance and pride, relying on their wealth and children. In fact, some of the Jews go so far in counting their lineage, in counting,
that they started counting the dead in the graves too.
These people who think themselves the clever ones of the earth are, among them, the most foolish of fools.
If you count your lineage, even if the people of this world came from your loins, after you have rebelled against Allah, after you have rebelled with them, will your lineage save you before Allah? It must be known that neither the wealth nor the children of those who disbelieve will bring them any benefit in the presence of Allah. If men and jinn together cannot do Allah any harm, which is in a verse — instead of counting lineage, if you know your lineage, your relatives and kin, and that the owner of them all is Allah, and turn to Allah, that is enough for you.
If you turn to the One who created you, even if the whole universe turns its back on you, but you are with the Owner of this universe, He is enough for you. As we always say. What does it say in the verse? Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Fe in tevellev fe kul hasbiyallahu lâ ilâhe illâ hu. Aleyhi tevekkeltü ve hüve Rabbü'l-arşi'l-azîm. Even if all people turn their backs on you, He says. Even if the universe is on one side. Say: Allah, Lord of the earths and the sky, of the heavens and the earth, of the great Throne, is enough for me; say, He says. Yes. So your lineage will not save you either.
They live relying on their wealth and children. And then they say, paradise is my right. Because he owns wealth. If anyone deserves paradise, it is me, he says. How is it you? I have wealth, I have property, I have children and family.
Well, have you not heard this verse? Or do you own even an atom of the world? If that were so, you would be given nothing of your world. That is, were you able to create an atom in the world? If you had created that atom, the beings and substances that meet your needs you would also have created, and I would give you nothing. So the wealth and property of this world, children and family, are all substances and beings created by Allah. In this case, which wealth did you rely on, which child of yours did you rely on, that you said paradise is my right?
They went even further: no punishment will touch us in hell for more than three days, they said.
They went even further than this. We are the ones close to Allah, they said.
Yes.
If all these people and this universe were created by Allah, those close to Allah are the people who take heed of Allah's commands and prohibitions, who are ruled by His commands.
And our Lord introduces them to us as righteous people. Gardens beneath which rivers flow are promised to them. So who are those close to Allah? Those on earth who take heed of Allah's commands and prohibitions and, ruled by their Lord's verses, put their trust in their Lord. yes
then they say, paradise is my right; they make their own decisions themselves; within the ruling Allah Almighty will give, they make their own decisions themselves; in this case, the existence of Allah over people suffices people as proof. What is it? Allah Almighty's existence over people. Suffices people as proof.
We always say it. What is the proof of Allah Almighty's existence over people? People who will use their reason: this realm they call nature, which did not come from human hands, a realm without reason and life, a realm without reason, did it set up this order by itself, and did this realm begin to move around its own axis?
The atoms and nuclei of matter, spinning around their own axes, emitting a signal and with those frequencies remembering Allah. Even if we do not hear it, it makes a sound. What does it say? The heavens and the earth and what is between them have known the remembrance of your Lord.
And the frequencies it emits as a result of that sound, to Allah Almighty being programmed, Allah Almighty, in the remotest corner of the universe, (?) stirring and its wishes and desires, is aware of them.
If man, without going far, looks at his own creation, then,
he has a flawless machine working in harmony, a body machine.
His eyes see, he takes and gives. His reason grasps what is said, distinguishes good from bad. His heart works like a clock. Its pumping of blood, in harmony with that 82–83 kilometre air layer's one atmosphere of pressure at sea level, the heart, against one atmosphere of pressure, with that pressure maintaining the balance of the human body — these do not constitute something that could come into being and come together by itself; and by not doing so, (?) the Creator, with knowledge, this body machine created, that is clear. This proof is now upon us. Our own existence is a proof. In this case, what person of reason can say that this body came into being by itself?
like this you could say, well how was the first creation? Our Lord makes it known the first creation of the body by taking mud from the earth, taking soil, our Lord putting it into the shape of a body and then giving it the spirit. Well, the spirit, where did it come from? The spirit too: Allah Almighty willed that His essence be known. He created our spirits in the realm of Lahut. A body was needed to give us an outward appearance. An outward body. In this case, with the soil He took, had taken from the earth, the human body He created. And by putting our father Adam's spirit into that body, He gave him life.
From him, so that his self would find tranquillity, He created our mother Eve, and then, bringing people into the world, so that they would prove what kind of people they are, He appointed a lifespan for them. Yes. So upon every person the existence of Allah Almighty is a proof. Abdulqadir Gilani, too: Allah Almighty is manifest (?) manifest. That unseen (?) he says. in this case if you continue to deny your Lord, then of course our Lord's existence in this realm, in a fog, in darkness, in a swamp, by running after the desires of the self, it is impossible for you to see of his children and family, his wealth and property, with the passion for greatness they give the human self, by following Satan's footsteps a person sells his eternal life for the goods and amusements of the world; so man in the hereafter. Because Allah Almighty, the moment He lifts His mercy from these, even if a person, up to seventy people, Allah Almighty giving him the right of intercession, even if He gives a person the right of intercession for up to seventy people, if a person's father, a non-Muslim, has gone to hell, he will never approach him.
Because mercy is never found for the one who turns his back on his Lord. In this case, for people to go to the hereafter having prepared while in this world, using their reason and obeying Allah's command, to go to the hereafter is to bring their own self to safety. Their own self.
If he goes there without provisions, that is, with many sins, and also as a non-Muslim, from them our Lord will lift His mercy. There, all alone and with no one, to the eternal abode of hell they will be (?).
These are the kindling of hell. In the verse. In the verse where He says this, such people ate the blessings Allah gave and drank.
Those who deny Allah eat and drink in such fine pleasure. From what their Lord created.
Not once did they thank Allah.
Who knows Allah? Well, non-Muslims also pray to Allah Almighty before eating. Yes. To which Allah do they pray? They say Allah is three.
Our mother Mary, His wife, Allah protect us, and Jesus His son, they say. They call Him the greatest of the three. And they even beg Jesus, Jesus: come and save us.
So they are in shirk.
Allah created people so that His essence would be known. Man, however, harbored hatred for Allah and turned his back on Allah. So it is. Is there a verse about his hatred of Allah, his turning his back on Him? There is. They will not see their Lord, He says. They will not see their Lord. This verse: the non-Muslims, that there is another god besides Allah, relying on it, turned their backs on Allah. So Allah Almighty decrees for them: they will not see their Lord. But some people take this verse, they say this verse indicates that Allah will be seen in paradise. Someone else says they will be resurrected blind and sightless.
Neither this nor that. Then what is it? There is no god besides Allah for them to see as Allah. This verse symbolizes tawhid, tawhid, (?). Otherwise, Allah's verses do not contradict one another. They will not be resurrected blind there. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, at the supreme court, in our Lord's presence, we will see our Lord. Will an unseen Lord call us to account there? Look, you will be returned to your Lord, He says.
We keep mentioning these things. Yes. Allah created people so that His essence would be known. Man, however, harbored hatred for Allah and turned his back on Allah.
Allah showed the ways of guidance. Man, however, followed his self and Satan, who is his enemy. Because of this he forgot Allah. In the hereafter, Allah turns His back on such people; Allah, the possessor of absolute power, will kindle them as the kindling of hell. May Allah protect the whole Ummah of Muhammad from such punishments. Yes.
