Don’t you see those who were given a share from the Book, how they are invited to the Book of Allah for a verdict among them, and after that, some of them turn away. They are the ones who make a habit of turning away (from truths.)
Tafsir
Many incidents have been cited as reasons for the revelation of this verse. The strongest is that it is narrated about the adultery of a man and a woman, two Jews. In fact, the verse is general in that it was revealed on them. According to their Book, the Torah, these two Jews who committed adultery should have been stoned. They came to seek a fatwa from the Prophet (PBUH) to mitigate their punishment, as they were of good repute. They explained the situation. The Prophet (SAW) ordered them to be stoned. When they objected, the Prophet (pbuh) showed them the Torah in his hand and showed them that according to it, the sentence was stoning. Not finding what they had hoped for, the Jews objected and left. It is upon this incident that this verse was revealed.
(Those who have been given a portion of the Book) This means that the Bible, the Torah and the Psalms are verses of the Qur'an in parts. The sum of these and more is in the Qur'an. Therefore, when Allah (swt) addressed those who were given a portion of the Torah, which is a part of the Qur'an, Allah (swt) said, "Do you not see those who were given a portion of the Torah?" Allah (swt) invited them to the Book of Allah (swt) to judge between them, but then a group of them turned away. This behavior of theirs is their long-standing habit. They are people who, although they know Allah, have made it a habit to turn their backs on the Verses of Allah in order to get their own way.
The people who change the verses with their own hands for worldly benefits and believe in them as religion are the people who say that the fire of hell is not worth more than a few days. Even if such a thing had happened, because of their selfishness, arrogance and pride, they are the people who are willing to consent to a few days of hellfire rather than doing what Allah says. The place of such people in the sight of Allah is eternal hell.
If a person's nafs is not satisfied, he cannot consent to Allah's Verses and cannot judge by them. These are the ones who will never see Paradise. Because Paradise is a place of peace and obedience. Such people are the ones who cause mischief and disturb peace. Even if you let them into paradise in their current state, they will create chaos and disorder there too. In this regard, Allah has addressed mankind: O people! He says: "Acquiesce to the verses, respect one another, continue in your duties of servitude, do not fall short in your worship, fear Allah and love Allah, reform your souls so that you may attain My paradise.
Although they are called to the Book of Allah, these are the people who have always turned away from such truths. The reason why they prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter is because of their pride and greatness in their own being, and because they think they are very superior, and this makes their hearts to have a complex of greatness against Allah (swt). Because they are accustomed to doing what they say, they are people who, with their short minds, consider their own incomplete and erroneous views superior to the path shown by Allah and do not want to go beyond their egoistic desires.
So such people are always restless and always in search. They are very passionate about the world. They boast of their children and children's well-being, pursue their lineage, console themselves with their wealth and possessions, and settle for the life of this world until the end of their lives in the blessings of this world.
On the Day of Judgment, when this wealth and property, children and good deeds will be of no use to people and every soul will say, "Nafsi, nafsi, nafsi", the only thing that will help people is their worship and faith. If you have not failed to obey and worship Allah, your worship and faith will be your savior and companion on that day.
What is said in the video
Al Imran Surah, the 23rd verse, we said. Do you not see those to whom, of the Book, a portion was given? To judge between them they are invited to Allah's Book, and then a group of them backs away and turns back. They are those who have made a habit of turning away from such truths.
This is a verse that came for the (?) Jewish people, but it covers all people. It doesn't necessarily mean it covers only them. All people. Allah Almighty, so that the verses are well understood, has causes created. As a result of those causes, verses would be revealed so that people understand better. In this verse too, they, He says, look, those who made it a habit. Those who made a habit of turning away from the truth.
The Jewish people were in a state like the slaves of Egypt. Pharaoh worked them at the hardest labor; unable to earn their living, they would return to their homes. With Moses (peace be upon him) He rescued them. He took them through the Red Sea. To the people of At go, there wage war and settle, take that place and settle, He says. Moses, from the twelve tribes, asks for one person each from their leaders. Twelve people come; to the twelve people he says: what you see you will tell only me, to your people you will not tell. They go; seeing the people of At, like (?) people. They come back; Moses' command they do not heed, they tell their tribes, except one person (?), except one person.
And Allah Almighty confines them in the desert of Tih. They even go further and say: O Moses, go with your Lord and fight, take that place, then we will enter.
Although Allah Almighty fed them in the desert of Tih, sent manna, fed them with quails, so that there be shade raised Mount Tur above them, they, against Allah Almighty, had grown used to rebelling. When entering through that door, where you say 'hitta', they say 'hinta'. In this case they always, meaning 'you watch over us, look after us, we do what we want', in no way came near to what Allah said. This is the verse. What does it say?
A group backs away and turns back. They are those who have made it a habit to turn away from such truths, it says. Many hadiths are cited as the cause of the revelation of this verse, it says. Hadiths. The strongest concerns the adultery of two Jews, a woman and a man, so it is narrated. It concerned the adultery of two Jews, a woman and a man, so it is narrated.
Recently (?) asked, I think, saying there is no adultery, saying there is no stoning for adultery; we had given him these two Jews as an example. Look, here it came. Here it came. Yes.
It is narrated to be about their adultery, it says. In fact, though it appeared through them, the verse is general. According to the Torah, the book in their hands, these two Jews who committed adultery being stoned is required. That Torah in their hands. Since the original of the Torah is in the Quran, it means there is no change.
Since they were people of standing, for their penalty to be pardoned, lightened, to get a fatwa from the Prophet (peace be upon him) they come. They will get a fatwa. They explain the situation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) orders them to be stoned. And decrees. (?) was saying there is no stoning, right?
When they object, the Prophet (peace be upon him), showing the Torah in their hands, shows that by it too the ruling is stoning. The Jews, not finding what they hoped for, object and leave his presence. So upon this incident, this verse was revealed. That is the hadith anyway. The strongest is this one too. According to the verses.
Those to whom a portion of the Book was given. The meaning of this is the Gospel, Torah and Psalms. They are verses from the Quran, part by part. Their sum and more is in the Quran. For this reason, for the Torah, a part of the Quran: 'do you not see those to whom a portion was given', Allah Almighty addresses; although they are invited to Allah's Book to judge between them, then a group of them backs away and turns away. These behaviours of theirs are long-standing habits. Although they know Allah, to get their own way they are people who have made a habit of turning their backs on Allah's verses.
While in the book in their hands it is made known that they be stoned, coming to Muhammad (peace be upon him): if in Islam this has been lifted, we, sir, Islam's, that verse would abide by, but still from our own book not turn away. From the book he will take what suits him and not take what doesn't. But can there be a deficiency in Allah's justice? The same verses are in the Quran too. Because those verses come to the Quran. They, the Torah, Psalms, Gospel, are in the Quran. When the ruling is the same, they turn away from the truths and leave.
These people, to changing the verses with their own hands, to their rabbis, for a little money, changing the verses and saying 'Allah said it so': people who have grown used to it. For this reason Allah Almighty gathering the Torah, Psalms and Gospel with their originals in the Holy Quran, and the Holy Quran being under the protection of our Lord Himself: in not a single letter of it is damage, damage done, He says. We sent down the Quran, and until the Last Day We are its guardian, says Allah Almighty. So in not a single letter of it is damage or distortion done.
If you say: Hodja, how are these protected? How is the Quran protected, Hodja? Does Allah protect it? That He protects it, how will we know, how will we see, how does He protect it; when we say this, Allah Almighty has given people various feelings. First, on earth there are hafizes of the Word. If in the Quran a verse were wrong, it is immediately corrected by the hafizes of the Word. This part is missing, they say. They open it, look in the books, and there is a deficiency there. That's one. Second: let the Quran I printed be flawless so that I can earn money from it. People who, for material gain, with a passion for material things, try to print it properly.
So with these feelings our Lord gave people, Allah Almighty, since He has programmed people, and since He knows what kind of program He gave, our Lord does not come to earth, protect the Quran and correct it by hand or anything. With such feelings He keeps the Holy Quran standing until the Last Day. Until the Last Day.
People who, changing the verses with their own hands for worldly gain, believe in them as religion: people who say 'hellfire will not touch us more than a few numbered days', such people they are. They see themselves so high that they are the sons of Allah or the close ones of Allah. Because these, superhuman rank-holding people, among themselves, within that ruling, already set up the Masonic organization, the Masonic organization.
Even if, we say, 'apart from two hundred days of hell's punishment no punishment touches us': to people who say this we say: even if such a thing were so, that is, two hundred days subjected to hell's punishment, sir, and after that you would get out of hell's punishment and be saved, even so, because of the egotism, pride and arrogance in these people, rather than doing what Allah says, they are people willing to accept a few numbered days of hellfire.
That is: the creator of these worlds, the one who gives you sustenance, the one who brought you into being from nothing, the one who equipped, equipped you with every kind of delight: you, His blessings, will turn your back on them, you will say 'I won't do what You say' and 'Your punishment, three days if three days, two days if two days, I will endure, but what You say I won't do', he will say, and then the one who created him, him after two hundred days of punishment will put in paradise with that lust of the nafs, and paradise too he will plunge, like a world, into a world of strife. Look at the matter, look at it. Look at the mindset.
Whereas paradise is a place with a festive air, where people live with feelings of brotherhood, never wanting for another what one doesn't want for oneself, and where everyone, consenting to the state, consents to what is.
You will drown that place in strife too, just as you soaked the earth in blood. Just as you were cursed. That curse will not be lifted from you, and there too you will keep doing it. Look at this mentality.
Yes.
Rather than doing what Allah says, willing to accept a few numbered days of hellfire: such people they are. So the place of such people in Allah's knowledge is eternal hell, we have said. Eternal hell.
If the human nafs does not become mutmainna, it cannot consent to Allah's verses and cannot be governed by them.
Today, as long as Muslims do not rise to a nafs that is mutmainna, contrary to Allah's verses they live. What does he do? Does he drink alcohol? Allah says don't drink. He drinks, but he is a Muslim. Don't gamble, He says. He gambles. Above all, He says don't commit adultery, although there is the matter of stoning, (?) (?) 'these are the state's laws', he says, and goes.
He says don't cheat anyone, don't consume the forbidden, yet he leads the way.
In that case, a person whose nafs is not mutmainna, of course, cannot be governed by Allah's verses. But once it becomes mutmainna, he fears the forbidden too, flees adultery too; from a plague like gambling he himself keeps away, and tries to keep people away too. He tries to stop those who drink alcohol; it is forbidden, he says. Look, brother, it is also harmful to your body, he says. He stays away from (?), from disliked things. He helps people. He takes delight in his Lord's verses, delight. He lives in reverence. So in people governed by the verse in which He says (?) there is peace. Yes.
So if the human nafs is not mutmainna, it cannot consent to Allah's verses and by them cannot be governed. So these cannot see the face of eternal paradise. Because paradise is a place of peace and obedience. Such people, however, are people of strife who disturb the peace. Even if you put them in paradise as they are, they would throw it into turmoil, chaos they would raise. For this reason Allah, addressing people: O people, to the verses give consent. Be respectful to one another. Continue the duty of servanthood. Do not fall short in your worship. Fear Allah and love Allah very much. Reform your nafs so that you attain My paradise, He decrees.
So, Mustafa, the answer of the verse is here.
So if our son Mustafa had not asked this, he would have gotten his answer here. Yes.
These although they are invited to Allah's Book, these people are people who have long made it a habit to turn away from such truths. The reason they prefer the worldly life to the world of the hereafter is the pride and grandeur of their own being, their seeing themselves as very superior, and this state of theirs, their hearts, against Allah Almighty, entering a superiority complex.
Since they are used to carrying out the ruling of their own sayings, their own deficient and faulty views, with a short mind, they deem superior to the path Allah showed; from their nafs's desires, outside their desires, they are people who do not want to step. In a superiority complex, you see.
For this reason, such people are constantly restless. These too, you can't find peace. And they are in a constant search. Their attachment to the world is very great. Boasting of their children's worth, of their children, they chase after lineage. Consoling themselves with wealth and property, within worldly blessings they complete their lives, and with this worldly life content people they are. Like the example I gave a moment ago. If they said: in this world you will eat, you will drink, every desire and wish of yours will be fulfilled, you will satisfy all the desires of the nafs. But tomorrow, when you fall asleep and wake up, when you get up, you will be subjected to this punishment.
In the world, if you carry out these laws, when you lie down and get up, the next day such blessings you will receive: when told this, these are so short-sighted people that, content with the time they see, the next day's life they turn into punishment. Why do I say the next day, why do I say when you lie down and get up?
When they are resurrected they ask one another.
How long did we lie underground? Some: a day; the wise ones say we lay less than a day, He says. Ask the noble angels charged with keeping count of how long you lay underground, He says. So lying down and getting up is like a sleep; that is what we give the example of.
Well, now I ask people who use their minds. According to this example I gave, would you prefer here, or tomorrow's life would you prefer? If you say 'what would you prefer', I say that even between two millstones, if I die, and I did die, I died, and I would constantly plead with Allah Almighty like this.
My Lord, You do not load onto our backs what we cannot bear, onto our backs You do not load. I am content with everything that comes from You. Even if You turn me between two millstones in this world, I am still content. But the people I am obliged to look after, responsible for, if from my state of want they turn to rebellion, I will be grieved, I would say. (?) servants. For them: their fine state, their state of worshipping You, so they can live it; for them, I would say, O Allah, to them, that is, from Your path let them not stray. On what basis did I say this? According to this hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) I said it. Poverty came near, near, came near to unbelief, he says.
Yes.
I died between two millstones. When people laughed, I had forgotten laughing; how does laughing happen, I would say. How do these people laugh? I had forgotten these things.
Mustafa, you are listening, I suppose. This requires being a wrestler. Being a wrestler. Even in those states you have given your heart to your Lord, and with Him you are in close company, with Allah. Yes.
On the Day of Judgement, at a time when this wealth and property, children and family, do not benefit people, and every soul says 'myself, myself', to a person the only thing that will help is his worship and faith. If you did not fall short in obedience and worship to Allah, your worship and faith on that day will be your saviour and your companion.
