Ali 'Imran 28: Mu’min (the righteous) shall not abandon other mu’min and become close friends with the infidels. Whoever does this, they shall have no value in the sight of Allah. It is however an exception if you protect yourself from a danger that may come from them. Allah warns you of disobeying Allah and return is only to Allah.

Tafsir
A Muslim cannot leave a Muslim and make a disbeliever his friend. If a person has faith, that faith is a symbol of love for Allah and His Messenger. If someone is an enemy of Allah and His Messenger whom you love, can you love him? Can you leave your brother in Islam who shares the same love and love an infidel? Can you put in your heart the love of the enemy of Allah and His Messenger and make him your friend? If such a trait exists in a person, it is either the result of ignorance or because the light of faith has disappeared from you. If the light of faith is removed from a person and the love of disbelief takes its place, then his deeds in the sight of Allah have been in vain. Such a person has no value in the sight of Allah. However, in the face of danger from the disbelievers, you can appear friendly to them without putting love in your heart. These are exceptions. If you go beyond that, if you are deceived by the closeness that a disbeliever shows you and you abandon the path that Allah has shown you, then you have preferred that person to Allah. No matter what situation people are in, if they are devoted to Allah, they will find salvation. If they are deceived by the temporal worldly goods and incline towards the world, if they indulge their ego and rebel against Allah, remember that the return is to Allah. On the Day of Reckoning, people will be rewarded in full for everything they have done.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-i Imran, verse 28. The verse: Let not the believers take unbelievers as friends instead of believers.
Whoever does this, then has no value at all in Allah's sight.
Unless you are guarding against a danger that may come from the unbelievers. The return is to Allah alone.
Now what does the verse say? Let not the believers take unbelievers as friends instead of believers.
A Muslim abandons a Muslim. The believer here is, of course, a person of high degree. Let him not be an example to the others, it says, to the Muslims too.
If a believer abandons a believer and takes an unbeliever as a friend,
there is division.
The strength of Islam diminishes.
They try to put out the light of Islam. Who? Believers who take unbelievers as friends. They try to put out the light of Islam, whereas since Allah will complete His light until the Day of Judgment, what does Allah Almighty say anyway? Then that person has no value at all in Allah's sight.
Because the believer's – of the person who has risen to a certain degree from which there is no turning back – the address to the believer is actually an address to the Muslims here. The believer would not do this anyway, and meaning the Muslims as well – had Allah Almighty said this to the Muslims, those among the Muslims who take unbelievers as friends would all have perished.
By addressing the believer, since the believer will not do this, He gives life to the others. That is, He gives life to the Muslim. The verse is very – It is a verse full of secrets anyway. Truly a verse worthy of being explained. Let not the believers take unbelievers as friends instead of believers. How beautifully it says it. If it had said, let not a Muslim abandon a Muslim and take unbelievers as friends, whoever does this then has no value at all in Allah's sight – had He said that, it would have been over for them. For the Muslims. But by addressing the believer – since the believer will have no turning back, a warning here to the Muslim – since the believer will not do it, since there is no turning back, since he will not take an unbeliever as a friend, if the Muslim cannot control his nafs and does it, he becomes a sinner.
He becomes a sinner. And since He knows the Muslims will do this too, Allah Almighty's speaking to them, to give them life according to the verse that deeds depend on intentions, how beautiful it is. O people! Do not abandon your Muslim brothers and take as friends those who are enemies of the religion of Islam, who have turned their backs on Allah, whose hearts are restless and scattered. They are of no benefit to themselves, let alone to you. Yes.
A Muslim cannot abandon a Muslim and take an unbeliever as a friend. If there is faith in a person, this faith is the symbol of love for Allah and His Messenger.
If someone becomes an enemy of Allah and His Messenger whom you love, can you love him? Is that possible, I mean?
Can you abandon your brother in Islam who shares the same love and love an unbeliever? Can you put into your heart the love of one who is an enemy of Allah and His Messenger and take him as a friend? If a person has such a trait, it is either the product of his ignorance, or the light of faith in you has gone.
If the light of faith leaves a person and the love of kufr enters in its place, what the person has done in Allah's sight is wasted. That is where Allah Almighty's "then he has no value at all in Allah's sight" verse corresponds. If the light of faith leaves a person and the love of kufr enters in its place, what the person has done in Allah's sight is wasted. Such a person no longer has any value in Allah's sight. However, in the face of a danger that may come from the unbelievers, without putting love for him in your heart, you may appear friendly to him. Because it is to prevent the danger that would come from him.
These situations are exceptions. If you go beyond this and are deceived by the closeness an unbeliever shows you and abandon the path Allah has shown you, you have preferred that person to Allah. Allah forbid. Whatever state people are in, if they bind themselves to Allah from the heart, they find salvation. If they are deceived by temporary worldly goods and incline toward the world, become devoted to their lineage, rebel against Allah, let it not be forgotten that the return is to Allah. On that Day of Reckoning, people will find the recompense of every deed done before them in full.
