(Zachary said); “Oh my Lord! How can I have a son while old age came upon me and my wife is infertile?” (Allah said); “Such (it is). Allah does whatever Allah desires.”
Tafsir
Then Hazrat Zakariyya said to Allah (swt), "I am old and my wife is barren, how can I have a son? According to one narration, Hazrat Zakariyya's age was one hundred and twenty years, and according to another narration, he was ninety-nine years old. Hazrat Zakariyya's wife was ninety-nine years old.
Allah (swt) has constantly proved to mankind through these events that His Divinity is one God. He has shown miracles. Here, He also showed another miracle by giving good news of Yahya to Hazrat Zakariyya's wife who was old and barren. When Zakariyya (as) said, "How can I have a child, I am an old man?" Allah (swt) said to Zakariyya, "It is not difficult for me, Allah creates whatever He wills.
What is said in the video
Zechariah (peace be upon him) says, My Lord, when old age has come upon me, and moreover my wife is barren, how can I have a son? Allah said: So it is. Allah does what He wills. He does. Here it is Allah's willing. He wills, because my Lord wills; that is my Lord's willing, He wills. In many places it is people's willing; here it is Allah Almighty's willing, according to the order in which the verse comes.
Thereupon Zechariah calls out to Allah Almighty like this: My Lord, I am old. And my wife is barren. How could I have a son, he says. According to a report, Zechariah's age is 120. 120. According to another report he is 99 years old. Yes. Zechariah's wife is 99 years old too. She too. 99 years old. With these events Allah Almighty, that His (?) is a single God, continually has it proven to people. Proof. So don't say: this one is old, this one is barren, this one is unmarried, this one can't have a child. Like Mary. Does He create? He created; she was unmarried. He was old. The man was past his manhood.
How can it be? It can. This is Allah. The woman is barren. That too can be. Because for Allah there is no 'no', none. He brings into being from nothing. He has programmed the events coming until the Day of Judgment. Allah, who created immortality on earth, (?), such events are easy for Allah Almighty.
What does immortality mean? It means a person staying fit and living forever. He created the body, but the upkeep of this body's immortality too He created. But according to the verse 'Every soul shall taste death', since we came to this unseen world as guests, in this guesthouse our Lord, according to the verse 'Every soul shall taste death', did not allow it. With His being: what I created, like this, immortal I can make. But the word We spoke at the beginning will come to pass, and you will taste death, and finally the Day of Judgment will (?). At the Great Court, for the deeds you did in the world, in the Divine Presence you will be called to account, He says.
This is the word He gave at the beginning. And this is the word He tells us through the verses. Yes.
So here Allah Almighty is showing people yet another miracle. To Zechariah in old age and to his barren wife, by giving the good news of John, He showed His miracles. Addressing Zechariah: This is not hard for Me; whatever Allah wills, He creates, He says.
Now Zechariah (peace be upon him) asks for an answer. An answer. Now, scholars too are raised like this in the sight of Allah. The same ways. Not a prophet, but the path is the same. For example, for a person to be raised through verses, he asks for answers. For example, (?) while being raised, they would explain. I would ask for a verse. Which verse? Is there a verse? Right to my mind, but they would show a verse. Is there a hadith? They would show a hadith. (?). I would see that the hadith and the verse are the same. Raised in depth. So one is being raised. In every matter I would look for an answer, an answer.
How do I know, I would say; even though it came to my heart by inspiration, at once verses and hadiths would be given to me.
That is why: this man denies the hadiths? No. I deny those who don't know hadith. I deny the ones that are not hadith. Do you know which hadith corresponds to which verse? Do you know? If you knew, you wouldn't accept superstitions as hadith anyway.
Because the superstition now says: hadith, such and such; in one report it says: hadith, this is so and so; the opposite of it, but it says: hadith, so and so. Which one is hadith? Which of these is hadith? They all contradict each other. Which one is hadith? If you knew hadith, these reports, the things slipped in there, you would not have had them written in there as hadith like this.
Imam al-Ghazali says: one who knows three hadiths is a scholar.
Even one who knows one hadith is a scholar, he says. Do you know what this is? Its meaning: carrying hadiths in your pocket, even genuine ones, does not mean you know hadith. One raised spiritually, who has seen the counterpart of the verse as hadith. Who has seen hadiths, the verse as the counterpart of the hadith. A person who has seen the verse as the counterpart of the hadith is a scholar. That is how one who knows even one hadith is a scholar. Did you see it, Hodja? Well, how many we explain. How many do we explain? Elestü bi rabbiküm You know, Allah created the souls in the half-dark, something of His light overflowed onto them.
Whoever took from that light found his way; whoever could not take from that light lost his way, dear ones. The verses. Their, it says, skins in hell, it says, well, when thrown into that fire will blacken, come out like black coal, and, it says, again from beneath a fresh skin will come out, and they will be thrown in again.
If my Lord raises a person, He raises him by showing like this through His verses. He raises you through those feelings too, He raises you through various events, and He gives you wisdom as well. Wisdom: to whomever We give knowledge, We give wisdom, He says. The capacity for wisdom is, of ladunni knowledge, the exact equal.
You cannot understand that. What was ladunni knowledge? Its making known to a person an event that is going to happen.
That is wisdom. We gave the prophets knowledge and wisdom, He says. They know ladunni knowledge too, and the verse comes. and the sultan of (?), Muhammad (peace be upon him).
So wisdom comes to a certain point and rests on it. If people who don't know these set out to interpret the Quran, they talk nonsense like this. If people who don't know these, claiming to explain the verses, tell people from their own whims, they slip superstitions like this into the religion. And so the religion filled up with superstitions. And now we, against people who take these superstitions for religious belief and are bound by them, and who have made a name and know Arabic and have memorized the Quran and say 'I have knowledge' while loaded with superstitions, against such people we have stood up and we are trying to explain to them that these are superstitions.
All of them? Well, of course he knows what is right too. He knows what is right, but he is also bound by superstitions. Blessed one, don't explain something you don't know. The man writes a book, he writes about the attributes of the believer. And the book, on the same page, the same page. The believer, he says, is at the lowest degree of Islam; perhaps, he says, a person who will go into kufr, he says. Five or six lines below: the believer, he says, is the one of the highest degree, a person precious in the sight of Allah, he says. Allah Allah, what kind of thing is this, what kind of work, what kind of writing, I just don't understand.
Well, he wrote this, he wrote the book.
