(Zachary said); “Oh my Lord, give me a sign (that I will have a son)”. (Allah said); “For you, the sign is that you will not talk to people for three days except by using gestures. Also, remember your Lord frequently, glorify Allah in the morning and in the evening”.
Tafsir
Hazrat Zakariyya asks Allah for an answer. O my Lord! Give me a sign that I will have a son. Allah (swt) told him that even though you are healthy, you will not be able to talk to people for three days, but you will try to tell people your intention with signs. He also said to glorify your Lord much, morning and evening.
Even if you cannot speak, do not fall behind in the dhikr, but take these days of inability to speak as a reward, and glorify your Lord who has bestowed you in the morning and evening.
Zakariyya was a descendant of the Prophet Solomon. He was the scribe of the Torah in Bayt al-Maqdis, and he was also a prophet of the people of Israel. Although he was a prophet, he practiced according to the Shari'ah of Hazrat Moses. Hadrat Maryam's mother was the sister of Hadrat Zakariyya's wife. Hadrat Zakariyya took Maryam with him and raised her under his care. Mary gave birth to Jesus as a miracle of Allah. To her people who were suspicious of Mary, Mary showed Jesus and made him speak.
Nevertheless, his people, suspicious of Hadrat Zakariyya, martyred this blessed prophet. According to another narration, when Harut, the governor of Palestine, was going to martyr Yahya 'alaihis-salâm', the son of Zakariyya 'alaihis-salâm', he tried to save him, and when he realized that he was being pursued, he hid in a stump in a garden in Beit al-Maqdis, and they cut the stump in two with a sawmill and martyred Hazrat Zakariyya.
Hadrat Yahya was the son of Hadrat Zakariyya. His mother was the daughter of Imran 'alaihis-salâm'. Maryam's mother and Yahya's mother are sisters. Maryam and John are aunt's children. Hadrat Yahya used to read the Torah at a very young age, he used to go into seclusion and asceticism in the fields. He used to preach and advise the people of Beni Israel. He practiced the Shari'ah of Hazrat Moses. Then he was granted prophethood to follow the Shari'ah of Jesus.
At this time, Herodos, the ruler of Palestine, wanted to take his sister's daughter and called Hadrat John to perform their marriage. Since it was forbidden to marry your sister's daughter according to the Sharia of Jesus, Hadrat Yahya 'alaihis-salâm' did not perform the marriage. They said that it was permissible according to the Shari'ah of Moses, but in fact this is a fabricated word, there is no contradiction in the Verses of Allah, and Hadrat Yahya said, "I am in the Shari'ah of Hadrat Jesus", but he still did not perform the marriage. The girl and her mother were angry with Hadrat Yahya and asked Herodos to have Hadrat Yahya slaughtered. Herodos slaughtered John the Baptist alongside them.
Hazrat John was about thirty years old when he was martyred. This event took place after the ascension of Jesus. Hazrat John is buried in the Sibtiyya in Jerusalem. According to the narration, his head is in the Mosque Ummiya in Damascus. One of his hands is still in Beirut.
The Shari'ah of Hazrat Musa 'alaihis-salâm' and the Shari'ah of Hazrat Jesus 'alaihis-salâm' are not separate. The schism consists in the alteration of Torah verses by rabbis in exchange for money.

What
does Zechariah say? My Lord, show me a sign that I will have a son, he says. A sign, look. The prophet asks for a sign. Likewise, while I was being raised, I asked for confirmation. Confirmation. Because I had no connection to it at all. The satanic, too, gives a person (?). It shows it to you as true. My Allah, alright. This verse, is there a verse corresponding to this? Here's a verse for you. Hadith? Here's a hadith for you.
Like this. Otherwise we didn't go: that came, abdühü; this came, abdühü; that came, abdühü. So it seems that rising to that degree was in the characters. The covenant was like that too. Accordingly, both supported and confirmed. Confirmed, we rose by Allah's mercy. By Allah's mercy. And the feelings, by inspiration, were worked through with verses. The feelings. My mind is not a computer. Look, wherever you ask from, we show verses. What is this? Feeling and wisdom. Allah has worked that feeling and wisdom with verses into me, into the feelings. He has worked these verses in. That is why for me to prepare and come teach you a lesson (?).
I have no need. Even if I worked twenty-four hours, if you ask me a question, I will explain it to you. With verses. Because I live what you ask as feelings. Those feelings have already been worked in. I tell it to you. When I explain, I never (?) the verses. And I don't search to the side at all.
Yes. Now, telling you this, Allah forbid, I mean, I'm not saying it to praise myself. Know the truth. From whom does what is right come? How does it come? Know this. The Prophet (peace be upon him) too used to say, I am a prophet. Not to puff up his nafs. He would say, I am the Messenger of Allah. Believe me. To invite them to Allah. To prove the strength of his word. And I, look, explain all the matters to you. For all that I explain, can you see anything contrary to the verses? Do you see one word of mine contradicting another word? I'm human too, I might say it. I might. But you won't find it.
So know the truth well. Why am I saying this? Obey what I say. Learn what is right, and these superstitions you will sort out well. These superstitions.
What do you say? Zechariah said: My Lord, show me a sign that I will have a son. Allah said: Your sign is that for three days you cannot speak to people except by gestures. And remember your Lord much, glorify Him morning and evening. Yes. Glorify morning and evening.
A day is twenty-four hours.
Morning and evening complete each other. And Zechariah (peace be upon him) used to write books that would tell of Allah all the time. He used to write books. So every moment of his is remembering his Lord morning and evening. Are there such people on earth? There are. Are there people who remember Him morning and evening? There are. Who are they? According to the verse. If you say, will you tell us about them, Hodja? Yes, I'll tell you, of course. I have such servants, to the Prophet (peace be upon him), that a trade, from My remembrance keeps them, He says. These are in remembrance morning and evening.
Even in trade he watches over what is right, not violating anyone's right or due, always acting with justice in view, always making Allah's justice his motto as he does his buying and selling; and in all his work, in his speech, always remembering the verses, asking by which one am I speaking, toward the other person accordingly he acts and speaks, and in this way he never holds back from remembering Allah. It doesn't mean saying Allah, Allah, Allah, Allah all the time.
This too is remembrance.
If they are to come to us, insha'Allah, we will all meet together. Zechariah asks Allah for an answer. O my Lord, give me a sign that I will have a son, he says.
Likewise the friends of Allah, the saints, for an event that happens, ask for a sign. That is, they ask for an answer, an answer. They don't just go abdühü right away; they don't call everything that comes inspiration. They ask for an answer. And Allah Almighty tells him: although you are healthy, for three days with people you will not be able to speak. You will only try to convey your intent to people by gestures. And remember your Lord much, glorify Him morning and evening. Even though you cannot speak, don't fall back from remembrance; these days you cannot speak, count them as a gain, glorify your Lord, (?), morning and evening, He says.
That is: I can't speak, oh, let me fall back from worshipping my Lord, let me lie on my back; no. Count this as a gain, He says. A gain. Explain to people with gestures, you will explain, and you count this as a gain too; remember Allah morning and evening, that is, (?). He gives thanks to his Lord.
Zechariah (peace be upon him) is a descendant of Solomon. Now, here we write the history.
In Bayt al-Maqdis he used to write copies of the Torah.
At the same time he was the prophet of the Children of Israel.
Although he was a prophet, he acted according to the law of Moses. Mary's mother is the sister of Zechariah's wife.
Zechariah took Mary in and raised her under his care. Mary gave birth to Jesus as a miracle of Allah. To her people, who suspected Mary, Mary pointed to Jesus and made him speak. They even suspect Zechariah (peace be upon him). Aren't you ashamed, they say. You assaulted your niece. About Zechariah (peace be upon him). They accused him. But when Jesus spoke as a miracle, they understood the situation.
Despite this, his people who suspected Zechariah, this blessed prophet, they martyred him. But not because of that matter. While going to save John, I said. They martyred him in that situation. And according to a report, the son of Zechariah (peace be upon him), John (peace be upon him): when the governor of Palestine, Harut, was about to martyr him, he tried to save him. Yes.
That commander's name is Harut. We write it here anyway. Harut.
Harut. So his sister is trying to give her to him. When that doesn't work, he throws John into prison.
When the governor of Palestine, Harut, was about to martyr him, he tried to save him. Realizing he was being followed, in a garden in Bayt al-Maqdis, inside a tree trunk he hid. Sawing the trunk in two with a saw, they martyred Zechariah. John is the son of Zechariah. His mother is a daughter of the family of Imran, of Imran (peace be upon him). Mary's mother and the mother of John (peace be upon him) are sisters. Mary and John are children of sisters. John, at a very young age, would read the Torah, withdraw into seclusion in the wilderness, and go into ascetic retreat. He would preach to and counsel the Children of Israel.
He acted by the law of Moses. Then, so that he would act by the law of Jesus too, prophethood was granted to him. Yes, to act by the law of Jesus, prophethood was granted to him. So this means that, even though he was a prophet, his acting by the Torah of Moses, and then acting by the book of Jesus, shows his struggle in religion against superstitions. What does it say, after all? He withdraws into the wilderness, into seclusion. Seclusion means solitude. He withdraws to a lonely place. The Prophet too used to withdraw into seclusion. He would go up Mount Hira. There he would receive the, revelation, sir. His uncle Abu Talib's eyes would even stay on the mountains. He's been there for days, he says, hungry and thirsty.
What is he doing there in the mountains, he says. Yes.
And he would come and to the Children of Israel give counsel. Although they had books in their hands, he would give counsel. Why? Because superstitions had entered the books. Ideologies had entered. Likewise we explain the religion of Islam to people, but people who say 'I live the religion of Islam' have had superstitions enter their minds. Outside the verses, people are chasing satanic things. Oh, such-and-such a miracle happened over there. Oh, this happened there. Oh, that flew here, this ran off there. They went chasing after these. Oh, they went to help the saints, I mean, to seek help from them.
Oh, should I have this, should I have that; these superstitions got into them.
Fabrications that are not in the religion; with these superstitions the religion completely changed its shape. And so the religion of Islam, the true religion, became anarchist.
That is how they generalize about Islam. The religion of Islam is a religion of anarchists, they were saying. The religion of Islam is not a religion of anarchists. Look, the religion of Islam is first of all a religion of peace, peace. For a person to know peace, he needs friends, right? And to have friends, he needs good character. A religion of good character. When people have good character, they get along with people very well. So the religion of Islam is a religion of brotherhood. The religion of Islam is a religion of foresight. The religion of Islam is a religion that spreads a festive air on earth. The religion of Islam removes man's enmity toward man.
Grudges, sorrow, (?), and evils that harm people, like gambling, like drink, like adultery, evils like interest, it removes them. It brings about people shouldering people. Like zakat, like charity.
According to the verse, whoever buys paradise with his wealth and his life, it is a religion that turns the earth into a festive air. But, alas, the superstitions. Superstitions, superstitions. Those who turn to superstitions because they please the human nafs. Huh? First of all, those who say 'I am a Muslim, I love Allah very much', yet though Allah tells you to cover your head, though He says wear a headscarf: is there such a thing in the Quran? Look, everyone has uncovered their head anyway, those who say this.
What more can I say? What more can I say? Let's call them those unaware of their own book. What more can I say?
Yes.
So John's
telling the Children of Israel, although they had the Torah in their hands, the commands of Allah. And we now, amid these superstitions, our hands on the book, we have our book in our hands. No superstition can enter our book. Because I sent down the book, so says Allah. I am its guardian until the Day of Judgment, He says. Not a single letter of it is subject to distortion or distortion, He says. In that case, between the Children of Israel and the Muslim, between the people of that time, that is John, and the Muslim of this time, what difference is there? Hodja, granted, the Torah in his hand was full of insertions.
John was telling him about Allah. Well, we have our book in our hands, what are you telling us? If you say that: you have your book, blessed one, but have you opened this book and read it? Have you read this book? Do you know anything of this book? If you knew, I wouldn't say: is the headscarf in the book?
If you knew your religion, your faith, Allah's noble ruling over you I would carry out. You said I am a Muslim, you recited the testimony of faith, you gave Allah your word; by becoming Muslim, by reciting the testimony: my prayer I will perform, my fast I will keep, if you have money I'll go on my hajj, if you have money my zakat I will give; you gave your word to your Lord, you did none of them. So, do you know your religion? We are trying to remind you of your religion. Back then too there were superstitions; they had put their own superstitions into the religion; now too the same superstitions. It's not in the book, but it is in your mind.
Now we are cleaning your mind. With what? With Allah's verses. If you are a Muslim, if you know your religion, if you know your Islam, under the guise of hodja, in people equipped with such superstitions, in people. He has come to head a certain group and keeps teaching them superstitions. Superstitions.
Yes. May Allah protect us from such superstitions. May Allah grant us to be servants to Himself and the community of His Beloved. And may He give a good understanding. A good understanding. With an understanding that separates superstition from truth, may He let us attain our Lord's mercy. Now we have understood, I suppose, what John told people, and what we tell you. And there is no difference between that time and this time. Because people are loaded with superstitions.
Mary, as a miracle of Allah, gave birth to Jesus. To her people, who suspected Mary, Mary, pointing to Jesus, made him speak. Despite this, his people, who also suspected Zechariah, martyred this blessed prophet, we said. In a garden, in, in Bayt al-Maqdis, he went into a trunk, and they cut him with a saw they did. John is the son of Zechariah. His mother is from the family of Imran; we said that too. I think we read that. At that time the one who was ruler of Palestine, Herodot, Herod, Herod, Herod. I was saying Andokyan, right? Not Harut, Herod. Harut is the governor. Yes, the king, the governor there.
Yes, and Herod is the commander. Now it has come to me. The history, we have explained it very well here already. But we mixed them up, of course; names can get mixed up. Names don't matter; to me names don't matter at all. Keeping names in mind does not mean knowing the matter. You kept the name in mind but misunderstood the event. That is very bad. If you know the event correctly, the name doesn't matter at all. Yes, whether it was Ahmet or Mehmet doesn't matter. But he knows the event correctly. What do you say: the one who was ruler of Palestine at that time? Herod wanted to marry his own sister's daughter.
He calls John to perform their marriage. Since by the law of Jesus marrying one's sister's daughter is forbidden, he does not perform the marriage. According to the law of Jesus. Thereupon, although they said it was permitted by the law of Moses.
By the law of Moses, Allah forbid. Here they also blame Moses. Moses was bound by Allah's verse in the Torah, and there is never such a thing. You, with your own hands, it says, for your own interest, claiming they are Allah's verses, would you insert into the Torah? Would you change the Torah with your own hands? For a few pennies of gain, it says. Allah Almighty, this is one of them, of these superstitions. Their lineage rising from their own family, not passing to another line, and even, as she said, 'I wouldn't shy away from even sleeping with my father'; these are those mentalities. And after that, go on and against that blessed Moses, a prophet, a (?) prophet, make slander.
Then rebel against Allah. You wrote it this way in the Torah of Moses; in that of Jesus you write it this way. And say: I don't follow that, I follow this. Yet look what Allah Almighty says in His verse.
We never make any change in what We said at the beginning, He says. Because Allah's law is like this, He says. Allah's law is like this. He never makes a change in what He has said, He says. So whatever it was in pre-eternity, if there is no change in that law, He does not say: in the book of Moses it is this way, in the book of Jesus it is this way. In the Holy Quran too, He does not list those who are not mahram this way. Those who are mahram; what does it say, those who are not mahram? her father, her paternal uncle, the wife's, the sons, I mean, her husband's sons, well, paternal uncle, paternal aunt, maternal aunt, right?
These, sisters,
it lists these. Yes. In every age it is like this. Allah's law: there is no change in this law, He says.
Well, thereupon, although they said it was permitted by the law of Moses, John, since it was not permitted by the law of Jesus, (?) does not perform the marriage. Thereupon the girl to be married and her mother get angry at John. They ask Herod to have John (peace be upon him) killed. And he, in their presence, kills John. When John was martyred he was about thirty years old. This event happened after Jesus was raised to heaven.
John is buried in Jerusalem, in Sibitiye. Where was it? In Sibitiye, in Jerusalem. According to a report, his head is in Damascus, inside the Umayyad Mosque. And one of his hands is buried in Beirut. In Beirut. Hodja, in Topkapı Palace, in Topkapı Palace, skull fragments are on display. There are written words. The Baptist, it says, John's, it says, the bones of his skull, it says. The Baptist. John's. Yes. Can such a (?) be done to such a prophet? But we... They do. They do. Because a person who is an enemy of Allah writes any word, does anything.
So we explain. We explain Allah's verses. You will compare what is written with Allah's verses. You will compare these.
