The angels said; “Oh Mary! Allah gives you glad tidings of a ‘word’ from Allah’s Own. His name is Jesus, the son of Mary, He is the Messiah. He is dignified on this earth and in the hereafter. He is one of those who have been made closer to Allah.”
Tafsir
One day angels came to Maryam with Allah's permission and said: "O Maryam! Allah gives you the good news of a word from Himself, a son; here the word "from Himself" has a very meaningful meaning. As we have explained in previous lessons, the universal soul is Allah (swt). The lesser spirit is given to human beings. Accordingly, Allah (swt) declares that when He says a word from Him, He will give Maryam a spirit from His own spirit, without any man's hand touching her, and she will be pure.
(His name is Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messiah.) As can be understood from the word Messiah, it means blessed in Hebrew. Blessed means a very honorable and respected person with many qualities. Allah created Jesus in this way. His mother Mary was untouched by the hands of a man and was born of a chaste mother who was precious in the sight of Allah, and Allah (swt) put the spirit of Jesus into the fetus He created in her womb, bestowed many miracles upon him, and made him one of those whom He had made close to Himself, and declared him to be a precious prophet.
(He is honored in this world and the Hereafter and is one of those whom Allah has made close to Him). Hazrat Jesus was a kind prophet who was very mild-tempered, never broke anyone's heart, was patient with the torture and torment inflicted on him, loved kindness, helped everyone, and invited people to Allah. In this respect, his good manners and kindness, and his willingness to come to the aid of everyone, made him respected in the sight of Allah in this world and in the Hereafter, and Allah took him among His close ones because he possessed these qualities.
What is said in the video
In the forty-fifth verse, the angels said: O Mary, Allah, of a word from Himself, gives you glad tidings. Look, pay very close attention to the verses.
What does Allah Almighty say to Mary? He gives glad tidings of a word from Himself. I'll open these parts up. His name is Jesus, son of Mary. Yet all people, all people are created with spirit. With spirit.
Here, when it says 'a word from Himself', it looks as if it leads to a different meaning. In fact, it covers all people. I will explain those.
Honored in this world and the hereafter, and of those Allah has brought near to Himself, it says. Of those Allah has brought near to Himself.
Now, first let us open up the verse here. Then let's see what we wrote in our commentary.
O Mary, Allah gives you glad tidings of a word from Himself. And on that basis they say he is the son of Allah. Because it says 'from Himself'. Gives glad tidings of a word from Himself. And also Mary is a virgin; no human being comes into the world without a father. In that case, they say, Jesus is the son of Allah.
All people are from Allah Himself.
All people.
What did we say? Allah Almighty gave man a part of His own being. What did He give? He gave of His spirit. Of His spirit. So all people are from Allah, from Allah Himself. Now, He uses this for all people, so for Jesus why does He use it? Gives glad tidings of a word from Himself.
All people will come (?) from a father. From a father. But Jesus — by the miracles of Mary, without any father's hand touching her, the spirit our Lord Himself created entering the mother's womb, and the conception. Not of the spirit, of course — it is our Lord's creating, His preparing (?) for that spirit in the mother's womb. This is within Allah's power. Because if Allah Almighty, who possesses the attributes and knowledge of bringing into being from nothing, created this universe from nothing, created so many worlds from nothing, then to bring a fatherless person into the world is not hard for Him. So 'a word from Himself', that is, a part of His spirit, without any father, any man's hand touching her, through a woman, pure and spotless, into the world He will bring him.
Jesus. So when He says 'a word from Himself', He matches it with a part of His spirit. But all people too are a part of His spirit. The difference between the two: all people come from a father, come from a mother and a father, while Jesus comes from a mother alone. Created through Allah's miracles. That is also why He gives glad tidings of a word from Himself. That is, without any man's hand touching you, you will have an offspring, a child. You will have an offspring, a child, a male child. That is the meaning here. Yes. One day the angels — we're reading the commentary. Now let's see what it says. The commentary said.
Maybe, if we touched on some points, we'll open them up. One day the angels, by Allah's leave, came to Mary: O Mary, Allah to you — Allah gives you glad tidings of a word from Himself, a baby boy. Here, we said, 'a word from Himself' is very meaningful. Very meaningful. It carries a meaning. As we explained in earlier lessons, the whole is Allah Almighty. The whole. And the part has been given to people. So we did open this up a little. So, accordingly, when it says 'a word from Himself', it makes known that to Mary, without any man's hand touching her, and Mary being pure, Allah Almighty will give a spirit from His own spirit.
So the whole is Allah Almighty, and the part is people, created before, before. Because all of them, all of them, from the spirit of the Prophet (peace be upon him) are created. All people, their spirits. Now here another meaning comes out. My words might perhaps be misunderstood. Wrongly. That is, just as all people were created from the spirit of the Prophet (peace be upon him), here, since He gives a spirit from Himself, did He perhaps, apart from the Prophet, just as He created the Prophet, create another spirit and give that? It never means that. When someone says, 'How would we know, Hodja? Prove it to us' — let us prove it. In the verse, I made you a witness over all the prophets, and your community a witness over the other communities, Hodja, it says.
So, if as the beginning of humanity He created the Prophet, and if in his spirit He also created the spirits of the prophets, then of course he will witness over them. If, now, we think the opposite of this, as I said earlier, if apart from the Prophet, just as He created the Prophet, He had created that one as a spirit too, He would not have made him witness over it.
These are all verses; they do not contradict one another, they confirm one another. Yes. And his name is Jesus, son of Mary.
As can be understood from Messiah, its meaning in Hebrew is 'blessed'. Messiah. It means 'blessed'. And 'blessed' — a highly respected, esteemed, exalted person with many virtues — is what it means. In Arabic — not Arabic, in Turkish — the equivalents of 'mübarek'. What are they? It means an esteemed, exalted person. It means a respected person. And Allah indeed created Jesus this way. In fact all prophets are like this. They are respected, blessed, exalted persons. His mother Mary, untouched by any man's hand, chaste and precious in Allah's sight — from such a mother he was created, and into the embryo Allah Almighty created by His power in the womb He placed the spirit of Jesus; as a precious prophet He makes him known. Yes, He granted him many miracles, joined him to those He brought near to Himself; as a precious prophet He makes him known, we say, regarding Jesus (peace be upon him).
Honored in this world and in the hereafter, and among those Allah has brought near to Himself, it says.
This too is meaningful. There is a lot of meaning here.
Among all the prophets, beyond the rank of prophethood, beyond it, what does it say? Honored in this world and the hereafter. In this world and in the hereafter.
The essence of the meaning here: the Prophet (peace be upon him) will be witness over all the prophets.
In a hadith he says: the saints of my community are like the prophets of the Children of Israel — by his saying this, by declaring that, like the state of those saints and prophets, he entered among the righteous servants, Jesus, because he is a prophet, and because he is alive up to now, and in his capacity of being of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) community, since he will also be honored with the light of Islam, because of this he has a rank above the other prophets too — except the Prophet, but above the others, those of the past — if he is a prophet, his having an understanding and a creed; in this case, both through his coming upon the religion of Islam — though the Christian religion, the Gospel, he brought with verses — and through being ruled by the Quran, he will be honored in this world and in the hereafter.
Above the other prophets now. Because they — only with what they brought themselves, what Allah Almighty gave them, and with the verses He gave, they were judged and passed on to the hereafter; the prophets were judged by their own sharia — but he will be judged both by his own sharia and, with the four books united in the Holy Quran, being honored with the religion of Islam, the quality of being of the Prophet's community he will bear. At the same time, since he is a prophet, he will be honored both in this world and in the hereafter.
Yes. Let's see. Let's also see how we opened this up in our commentary. Honored in this world and the hereafter, and of those brought near to Allah. Jesus is very gentle-natured, breaks no one's heart, is patient with the torture and suffering inflicted on him, loves goodness, rushes to everyone's aid; who invites people to Allah — a gracious prophet. Yes, that is how he is. We listed his virtues here. Therefore, apart from being good-natured and gracious, by rushing to everyone's aid, both in this world and in the hereafter he was made honored for Allah's sake, and because these virtues are found in him, Allah Almighty took him among His near ones, we said.
Here we wrote about the virtues of the prophets. These apply to all of them. To all. That is how they should know it. These are the states of the prophets. Their sensibilities. Yes.
