Were My verses read to you and you denied them?

Tafsir

In the Hereafter, when those who disbelieve in Allah (swt), who believe that there is no Day of Reckoning, when they see the truth, when they are called to account before Allah (swt), Allah (swt) will say to these disbelievers: "When Our Verses were recited to you, you used to deny them. You used to deny Allah and the Hereafter, you used to mock your Prophets and kill them. He will say, "You used to mock at My signs and turn your backs in arrogance and pride, did you not?

Surah Al-Mu'minun, verse 105. Euzübillahimineşşeytanirracim Bismillahirrahmanirrahim Elem tekün âyâtî tütlâ aleyküm fe küntüm bihâ tükezzibûn My verses used to be recited to you, and you would deny them, would you not? He says. How beautifully He says it. Allah Almighty sent the Quran before us as a light, as a proof; He sent it as a nur. Nur is, after all, light, proof.

Now Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 17, always comes to my mind. When one says light, proof like this: when He sent people to this world, he did not know what he would do, man did not. But Allah Almighty sent those people His laws, their action and conduct, His Sharia rulings making known that their honor, dignity and self-respect would be protected. Isn't that so? Isn't this a light before us? Doesn't it tell us what we will do? It does. Just as a person goes to a school and knows nothing. If his teacher teaches him — Allah Almighty too teaches us in a way through His verses. The Holy Quran's — where is it? Give it to me.

They've taken all the Qurans from here. Here it is. Now in this case, hasn't Allah Almighty, with the Quran, held a light before us? I mean, weren't we in darkness? In darkness. In this case, people unaware of these have also interpreted the verses wrongly. What have they said? Their state, the hypocrites', is like that of one who kindles a fire on a dark night. Now how would a hypocrite kindle a fire on that dark night? How would he light himself up? Instead of saying "like a burning fire": like a fire burning on a dark night — what will light up our way is Allah Almighty offering the Holy Quran to us as a light.

When the fire lights up its surroundings, Allah immediately puts out their fires and leaves them in darkness. Just look at that. So Allah puts out their light as well, apparently. Whereas: their state, the hypocrites', is like a fire burning on a dark night. We are in darkness. We don't know enough to see our way, enough to advance ourselves; our laws we don't know — so that today, before all our eyes, the non-Muslims' what even animals don't do, non-Muslims do in Japan. They filmed it. A mother and her child fornicate. A mother and her son.

Even animals don't do this sometimes.

And in this case, aren't they in darkness? What happens? The fire lit up its surroundings. Those who put out the fire, that is, those who turn their backs on the Quran, leave themselves in darkness. They no longer see. That is the meaning of the verse. If you interpret this in a way that attributes it to Allah, then of course the place you will go is their place too. Now: My verses used to be recited to you, and you would deny them, would you not? Of course. By their own selves, their minds are above Allah Almighty's verses that hold a light before us — words of backward ages, they call them, of old ages, words, they call them, you know, irtica, they call it.

What is irtica? The verses the Prophet brought in the old age — people bound by those verses — calling them irtica, that is what it is. Actually, irtica is not that irtica. A person bound by those verses is enlightened, possessor of honor and dignity, for in the verse too, Allah Almighty says: if you seek honor and dignity, honor and dignity are with Allah. How will I be with Allah? Will Allah come here and say, (?), come to Me? He will say it with His verses: Be bound by My verses. Whoever is bound by the verses is with Allah. Honor and dignity are with him too. In this case, what do the people deprived of that honor and dignity do?

Because he lives in darkness by his own mind, the zaqqum flower that blooms in swamps (?) — what does he say? Yet he sinks deeper and deeper and doesn't realize it.

In the hereafter, those who deny Allah Almighty, who believe there is no day of reckoning, when they truly see, when they see the truth, when in the presence of Allah Almighty they are called to account, Allah Almighty will say to these two deniers: When the verses were recited to you, you too would deny them. I mean, don't they deny them in this world? They do. And they say, we believe in Allah — the Christians, you know, the Jews — but they associate partners with Allah. So their knowing of Allah, as we know Him — because they could not know Allah, they did not know Allah, in that sense, and they themselves prove that they are in shirk.

For example, the Israelites call Ezra the son of Allah. The Jews. The Christians say of Mary and Jesus: Allah is three, they say. Mary His wife, and Jesus His son. Whereas Allah is one in the universe. He is ehed. Ehed. Ehed means one, but in Arabic vahid is also one. With us, too, it is one. But ehed is one too, yet in Arabic ehed means a one with no other one apart from His essence. Apart from His essence. Now when I say "one", it is one of these teaspoons. Pay attention here. When I say "one". But when I say ehed, a one besides which there is no other one. That is, the word hu itself. What is hu? He who subsists by His essence, besides whom there is no other god.

Yes.

My verses used to be recited to you, and you too would deny them. You would deny Allah and the hereafter. You would also mock your prophets. You would kill them. Didn't they kill Zechariah (peace be upon him)? While going to rescue John, you see, he notices: they're following me. He goes inside a tree trunk. And these Jews come after him. They close both ends of the trunk and cut it with a saw. They kill him. Yes.

You would also mock your prophets. You would kill them. You would mock My verses. In grandeur, arrogance and pride you would turn your backs and go away. Isn't that so? He will say.

And this corresponds to which verse? When they come to you, they appear to be of you; when they go to their own allies, it says — when they go to their own allies — we are mockers of them, they say. That is, we are mockers, they say. And they mock the so-called Muslims. Yes.
