It is only You we worship, and You alone we seek for help.
Tafsir
O Allah! If there is no god but You, and You have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, and You have made known the remembrance of Your remembrance, will I ever fail in Your remembrance, and will I ever fail to worship You? Will I ever take anyone other than You as a god?
O Allah, the Almighty and All-powerful, I seek help for my needs from You alone and I ask You alone.
O Allah, worthy of praise, O Allah, the Owner of the worlds of the visible and the subtle, do not leave me alone with my nafs and give me the strength and power to serve You.
In this situation, we knew our helplessness, we realized that there is no one worthy of worship except You and that You alone are to be worshipped. O Allah, treat us with Your mercy, forgive us and forgive us our sins. Do not separate us from You in both worlds. Make us saints, O Allah.
What is said in the video
To the fifth verse of Al-Fatiha: İyyâke na'büdü ve iyyâke neste'în. You alone we worship, and from You we ask for help. O Allah, if there is no god but You, if You created the heavens and the earth and what is between them and made known the remembrance of Yourself, would I fall behind in remembering You and fail in worshipping You at all? Would I ever take anyone but You as god?
Today the miracle of miracles is appearing.
Through science. Through science. The atoms of all matter, the nuclei of atoms — positively and negatively charged electrons and protons, these nuclei, electronic matter — the nuclei spin around their own axes and make a sound. Even if we do not hear it, Allah Almighty makes these remember Him. And making them remember Him signifies that He is their Creator and that there is no god but Allah. This brings out tawhid. La ilahe illallah. Yes. Also, as these spin around their axes, because of the magnetic field they produce a signal, and all these signals — toward Allah Almighty, with Him as receiver: the created are the transmitters, and the receiver is Allah Almighty.
And all their states and movements — by the language of their state, by the language of their tongue, He knows what all beings need. He created them with His knowledge, ordered them, and also knows what they will do. Moreover, as Semî He hears, as Basîr He sees. That is, imagine this: a pitch darkness, you cannot see a thing, cloud upon cloud, a pitch-dark night. Beside that, imagine a pitch-black stone, black. On it, imagine a pitch-black ant, an ant. Our Lord hears and sees its footsteps. For Him the darkness of night and the light of day are one. It never changes. So we come to this. If You are our Lord, if You are the Owner of these worlds, if our return is to You, if the great court will be set up on the Day of Judgement and we will be called to account there, O Allah, would I ever turn my heart to anyone but You?
Would I turn my face to anyone but You? And could I step outside Your commands?
Imagine a horse, a horse.
Its rider is on its back. The halter is in the horse's hand.
The halter is in its rider's hand. The horse's halter. Its reins are in its rider's hand. Whichever way this rider, this rider steers that horse, the horse goes that way. Now think of me as such a horse, and think of the halter as Allah's commands: whatever my Lord's command is, that is the way I go. Because He created us; we have no owner but Him. So if we turn our face to anyone but Him, if we tell our wishes and desires to anyone but Him, we wrong ourselves. Yes.
Who has power over everything and is capable of all things — O Allah. For my needs my help is from You alone, and I ask from You alone. Of course — the Owner of the universe. He guarantees the sustenance of all He created, knows the state of His creatures at every moment and watches over them. Even if I ask Ahmet or Mehmet, they neither see me nor (?). So should we not ask, Hodja? I mean, nothing from people? Allah Almighty made us means for one another. We will ask for our needs for Allah's sake. For Allah's sake, and for Allah's sake we will help. What happened? We asked from Allah again. From Allah.
If that person loves Allah, he will help the servant Allah loves. Because he is in need. If that person has already turned his back on Allah, his whole existence is material. He turns his back on the servant who loves Allah too, and takes pleasure in his suffering. So if the helper helps thinking "I gave to Allah," and the one who receives says "I received from Allah," then in this world, as brothers, both the giver and the receiver attain Allah's mercy. Both of them. How beautiful. All for Allah. Nothing for the nafs. Nothing for self, pride, fame or glory either. Yes.
O Allah, Who is worthy of praise. O Allah, Owner of the outward and inward worlds. Do not leave me alone with my nafs, and give me the strength and power to serve You — so we will pray to Allah Almighty. How? From the heart. O my Lord, You willed it and created us. Back in the first (?), Allah Almighty — You made us attain Yourself, the first Word. There You honoured us with Yourself. I do not know the unseen, O Allah, but I know, with the mind I have been given, that there is One who created me. And this Creator, ever since our father Adam, as the one Allah, as the one Creator, has been exercising His rule.
However many false creators have appeared, however many have been taken as gods, however many idols were made gods, all of them were mortal and passed away. So what is mortal cannot be god. So nothing of stone, of earth, nothing made by human hands can be a god. So there is one God, and it is this Allah whose rule holds from first to last. Yes.
So you will turn your heart to Him. You will rely on Him. Hasbünallâhu ve ni'mel vekîl, ni'mel mevlâ ve ni'me'n-nasîr. What an excellent Protector, what an excellent support, what an excellent friend, you will say. Tevekkeltü alallah: you will put your trust in Allah, and with all your being, surrendering to your Lord: My Lord, do not separate me from Yourself. My Lord, give me the strength and power to worship You. Do not take my body and health from me, do not leave me helpless and deprived of worshipping You, O Allah — so you will say.
Yes. İyyâke na'büdü ve... So I have known my helplessness. That is, we have known our helplessness. We have grasped that none but You is worthy of worship, that You alone are to be worshipped.
O Allah, treat us with Your mercy. Forgive us. Pardon our sins. In both worlds do not separate us from Yourself; make us honoured, O Allah — so we will pray. What do we say? O Allah, treat us with Your mercy, forgive us, pardon our sins. What is this? O our Lord, it is Your will: You created our minds imperfect. That is: I created every human fallible. This flaw is not bodily; it is being created with an imperfect mind. With this imperfect mind, man makes mistakes.
Only Allah is without error. All created beings make mistakes. The Prophet (peace be upon him) too says: value me as much as is due. That is, "never makes a mistake" — do not make me equal to Allah, he says, beware. What does Allah Almighty say? "You forgave your past and future sins," He says. And everyone to come, before Allah Almighty, is imperfect. So our minds are imperfect, O Allah. We take what is wrong for right. That is, we take the wrong path for the right one. And thinking we are worshipping You on this path, we end up sinning. Or, because we are imperfect, we get carried away by our nafs and out of our helplessness we sin. What then?
We are helpless. Forgive us, O Allah, we say. Forgive. Yes. We pray to our Lord. We show that we surrender to Him. In this way. Yes.
