They shall draw their veils over their chests. And they shall not reveal their ornaments to anyone but to their husbands, fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their own sons, the sons of their husbands, their brothers, the sons of their brothers, the sons of their sisters, their own women (other believing women), those under their authority (slaves), male servants that do not have desires (towards the women of the house), or children who are not aware of women’s hidden gems. And tell the believing women (mu’min); they shall lower their gaze and protect their chastity. They shall not reveal their ornaments, except what is apparent thereof. Tafsir

Allah (swt) addresses the believing women in this verse as He addresses the believing men. He says, "Do not look at the haram with their eyes and guard their chastity.

Allah (swt) created women as ornaments. Therefore, the parts of women that are not visible are their adornments. The reason why these adornments are not visible to outsiders is for believing women to hide these adornments and protect themselves from evil.

Jewelry is an ornament. Everyone wants to buy this adornment. So Allah has created man and woman for people to procreate and multiply. In order to prevent people from spreading filth and immorality by indulging in their lustful desires, Allah (swt) addresses both the believing man and the believing woman, telling them to protect their chastity and honor.

The visible parts of the woman are the area under her eyebrows and up to her chin, her hands and the parts of her feet that start after the shinbone.

In this respect, Allah (swt) describes the places to be covered well. According to the verse, "Let them cover their head coverings up to their collars", what is now called a turban is in accordance with this verse. He commands our women and girls to cover their heads in such a way that their hair is not visible, and to cover the remaining part of the scarf, referring to the breasts and the neckline, which Allah (swt) calls adornment and is part of the adornment of women.

They should not expose their breasts and necklines, which are part of the adornment of women. Allah (swt) has created human beings in the most honorable form (lekadhaleknal insane fi ahseni takvim). If women were created as an ornament within these beautiful forms, Allah (swt) says, "Do not show your adornments," protecting the honor and dignity of women, so that people who are enemies of lust, like themselves, do not follow them and become tools for the dark ambitions of these evil people, by exposing and showing their adornments, by exceeding the rule of morality and suggesting immodesty.

In the age of ignorance, people used to make their women and girls drink at the tables of liquor, undress them, and after doing all kinds of ills and filth, they would roll them up like rags and push them aside. Since Allah (swt) created human beings, even if they are women, with the highest honor, Allah (swt) does not approve of the people of this age of ignorance using women, who are the human beings created by Allah (swt), in such a way and pushing them aside like a worthless object. Allah does not do injustice and injustice among His creatures. That is why Allah (swt) has sent His law that gives women a great value.

Whoever does not value the laws of Allah, which are the Sharia Laws of Allah, lives according to his own desires and wishes, discards the laws of Allah without considering the honor and dignity of humanity, lives according to the verse (and they are more perverse than animals in their ways), and causes mischief and torment with their immorality, these people are destined for torment in this world and for Hell, the place of eternal torment in the Hereafter.

In this respect, Allah, who loves people very much, warns those who live in their own desires, those who turn their backs on Allah, and warns those who live as Muslims: O people! Cover your places of decency, do not show your adornments, and protect your honor and dignity so that you may attain the mercy of Allah.

The people who are not mahram for women are people other than their husbands, to whom they are not married. They may only show their adornment to them according to the Shari'ah rules. Other than their husbands, the people who are not mahram to women are their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their own sons, their husbands' sons, and their husbands' sons, in case of illness or when they are sitting together. When this verse says sons of their husbands, he may have been married several times. He may have sons from different wives. Since the sons of this person, besides his own mother, the women who were his father's wives are the mothers of these children, there is nothing wrong with the sons of their husbands seeing the mahrams of these women who are their mothers, within the Shariah rules. Their brothers, their brothers' sons, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their own women. In this verse, when it says "his own women", it means that he has several wives, and there is nothing wrong with these women seeing the intimate parts of each other within the Shari'ah rules. Some Sufis, on the other hand, talk about believing women and say that there is nothing wrong with these believers seeing the private parts of women. Because a believer in the state of mutmain is a woman whose soul is perfect. No evil can come from them. But when they say "your women", they mean the women under his own marriage. Those who are asleep and do not hear. These are those who have fallen from manhood.

Or children who are not aware of the secret and private parts of women. Apart from these, they should not show their adornment to others.

They should not expose themselves by stomping their feet to show off their adornment, by making a beat or a sound with their feet, by drawing attention to themselves, to show off their adornment to people.

(O believers, repent to Allah together so that you may be saved) O servants of Allah, hold fast to Allah's commands so that you may form a front against the enemies of morality on earth. Establish love and respect among people. Help the religion of Allah. Commit yourselves wholeheartedly to Allah, turn away from what Allah forbids, ask Allah's forgiveness for the mistakes you have committed as a human being, and repent and ask forgiveness, so that you may attain Allah's mercy and attain salvation.

What is said in the video

Surah An-Nur, verse 31: Tell the believing women too to guard their eyes from looking at the forbidden. Tell the believing women too. He had told the believing men; tell the believing women too. Who are the believing women? Women whose nafs has risen to tranquillity, who have grasped the divine manifestations, who are in the position of saints. Allah Almighty, in addressing them, to some extent gives Muslims life. Because He knows Muslims will go about with heads uncovered, and believing women will not uncover their heads, He tells the believing women; if He had said, if He had said "O you who believe", we'd have been done for.

If our wives, our wives, had gone about with heads uncovered, all of them would have stepped outside this verse and, God forbid, they would have gone into kufr. They would have gone into denying the verse. Because He says it to the believer, He gives the Muslim some life; He does not push him into kufr. Allah Almighty does not push them into kufr, but they become sinners. Because they do not carry out Allah's command, they become sinners. What does it say? Look.

To these believing women: That is, let them guard their eyes from the forbidden. By saying "their eyes" to the believing women — although those who believe are also included in this, since the believers will never uncover their heads and will not look at that forbidden either, it is a warning to the others. If you do it, look, I will punish you. That is the meaning of the verse. That is the meaning here. Yes. Tell the believing women too to guard their eyes from looking at the forbidden. Let them protect their chastity and virtue. Let them not display their adornments, except what is visible. Let them draw their headscarves over their collars.

Their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their own sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their own women — believing women, that is — those in their possession, slaves, those among the men who feel no desire for the family's woman, (?) persons such as servants and so on, or children who are not yet aware of women's hidden womanly features — other than to these let them not show their adornments. Yes. Let them not stamp their feet so that the adornments they hide become known. Let them not walk in a manner that draws attention to themselves.

O believers! Turn to Allah in repentance all together, so that you may attain salvation. In short, Allah Almighty in this verse lists the people who are not mahram, with whom marriage is not possible. Also, Allah Almighty, just as He addresses the believing men, in this verse addresses the believing women. Let them not look at the forbidden with their eyes and let them guard their virtue, He commands. That is, let them protect their chastity and honour. Allah Almighty created women as an adornment. Adornment. Some say: so is woman an ornament? Is woman separate from human beings? What does Allah Almighty say about woman?

Let them protect their adornments. Look. Yes. Let them not show their adornments. What is ziynet? Ziynet is adornment. Adornment. So then, a woman has parts that are adornment. Attractive. You know, people feel drawn to gold, silver, diamonds, don't they; these are used as ornaments, right? however much they are ornaments, He does not treat woman as an object. For a woman to protect her honour, dignity and chastity, Allah tells her to cover herself, to cover her hidden parts, those adornments — Allah Almighty. So what is this? She is to cover those adornment parts. Yes. This must be well understood.

People with ulterior motives, like looking for a calf under an ox, with words and tongue-twisters, try to twist things — those who attempt this, of course, prove their (?) to the religion of Islam themselves, with their own mouths, in this case. Yes. Just as Allah Almighty addresses the believing men, in this verse He addresses the believing women. Let them not look at the forbidden, let them not look at the forbidden with their eyes, and let them guard their virtue, He commands. That is, let them protect their chastity. In a verse Allah Almighty says: if a woman, He says, gives herself to you without inclination, she is forbidden to you, He says.

Forbidden. Allah Almighty created women as an adornment. Therefore the parts of women other than what is visible are women's adornments. Their ornaments. That these adornments are not seen by strangers, that believing women hide these adornments, is in order to protect themselves from evil. Yes. Today don't you see the thieves, pickpockets, swindlers? How they swindle and rob shops, banks, people?

Why do they rob? For money. And for this one, for his lust. Adornment. Since it is an adornment, he covets that too for his lust. Yes. Ziynet is an adornment. Everyone wants to take this ziynet. So then, Allah created man and woman so that people would reproduce and multiply. So that people, through the lust He has given them, carried away by lustful desires, do not spread filth and immorality, Allah, addressing both the believing man and the believing woman, says: guard your virtue and your chastity — this is Allah Almighty commanding that His sharia ruling be observed.

The visible parts of a woman: the area from below her eyebrows to the line of her chin, that is, let us describe it like this: from her eyebrows, this face, below the chin; from these wrists, to the shin bone on the foot, up to the shin bone, up to the ankle bone — is the woman's private area. Yes.

Her hands, and the parts of the feet starting after the shin bone. Thus Allah Almighty describes well the parts to be covered. Yes, their headscarves, over their collars, let them draw them. According to the verse, what today is called the "türban" is in line with this verse.

To abolish the türban that conforms to this verse, what was it? Christian nuns supposedly cover themselves like this.

He is trying to strike at Islam. The nun's covering is different. Our Muslim girls covering their heads nicely with that so-called türban and covering the adornment part of their chest with the cover of the yashmak is a different matter. Yes.

Our women — our women and girls — their headscarves, so that the hair does not show, they should close; the remaining part of the scarf — Allah Almighty, meaning what He calls adornment, which is part of women's adornments, their breasts and necks — commands that these be covered. Let them not uncover their breasts and necks, which are part of women's adornments, and display them. Allah Almighty created human beings very honourable. Lekad halakne'l-insâne fî ahseni takvîm. I created human beings in the most beautiful form, He says. If women too were created as an adornment within these beautiful forms, women uncovering and showing their adornments, overstepping the rule of morality, proposing shamelessness, by proposing shamelessness, with people who, like them, are (?) of lust following them — so that they are not made tools of these evil people's dark aims, Allah Almighty, protecting the woman's honour and dignity, says: do not show your adornments.

In the age of ignorance, people made their women and daughters drink at the drinking tables, stripped them, and after committing every kind of vice and filth, rolled the women up like a rag and pushed them aside. In the age of ignorance, before the Prophet (peace be upon him), in an earlier era.

People ashamed of this, when girls were born, so that they would not be subjected to such things, buried their children alive in the ground. Yes, after the Prophet came, he abolished these practices. Allah Almighty gave women the value due to them through His verse. Now, those who call Muslims reactionary — pay attention to them — people who live outside the religion of Islam call Muslims reactionary. That is, a person who believes in the old era, who wants to carry out that era's, that is, its prophet's ruling — in this sense, reactionary. But what he understands, and what we understand by it, is this: That person: before the Prophet came into the world, before he brought the religion of Islam, stripping their women and daughters stark naked, making them dance at drinking tables, pushing them into every kind of immorality, and after satisfying their own carnal feelings on them, pushing them aside — people who long for that.

That is the real reactionism. The Muslim is not reactionary. The Muslim, the Muslim — the person who, with Allah's commands, values woman and man as they should be valued, so that they treat them as Allah has made known — if you seek glory and honour, it is with Allah — the person who acts by that verse, the future's (?) people, and of the hereafter, of the one who gains Paradise, the beings (?). In this case, the one who calls that Muslim reactionary — the people who, before the Prophet came, buried those girls alive in the ground, made them dance at drinking tables and indulged in their pleasures — the things such people long for, since they cannot have it, cannot do it, the believer serves as a mirror for that person, and the person sees himself in that mirror.

Yes. Now we understand very well, when they say reactionary, who those people are. Yes.

Let them not uncover their breasts and necks, which are part of women's adornments, and display them. Allah Almighty created human beings very honourable. Lekad halakne'l-insâne fî ahseni takvîm. I created human beings in the most beautiful form, He says. If women too were created as an adornment within these beautiful forms, women uncovering and showing their adornments, overstepping the rules of morality and proposing shamelessness, with people who, like them, are (?) of lust following them — so that they are not made tools of these evil people's dark aims, Allah Almighty, protecting the woman's honour and dignity, says: do not show your adornments.

In the age of ignorance, people made their women and daughters drink at the drinking tables, stripped them, and after committing every kind of vice and filth rolled the women up like a rag and pushed them aside. Since Allah Almighty created the human being, even a woman, most honourable, with the people of this era of ignorance using women — human beings created by Allah — like this and pushing them aside like a worthless object, Allah is not pleased. Allah does not commit injustice or unfairness among His creatures. Therefore Allah Almighty sent His law that gives women very great value.

So whoever does not value the laws that are Allah's sharia ruling, lives according to his own desire and wish, without thinking of human dignity and honour casts Allah's laws aside and lives according to the verse "they are more astray in their course than animals", drowning everything in strife and torment with their immorality — these people become seekers of both a torment in this world and, in the abode of the hereafter, of the place of eternal torment, Hell.

Therefore Allah, who loves people very much, warns those living within their carnal whims, who turn their backs on Allah, and cautions those living as Muslims, saying: O people! Cover your private parts, do not show your adornments, protect your honour and dignity so that you attain Allah's mercy — so He commands. How beautifully Allah Almighty says it. How beautifully He warns people with His verse. People who are not (?) to women are, apart from their husbands, those with whom marriage is not possible. They may show their adornments, according to the rules of sharia, only to these: Again, apart from their husbands: those for whom, during an illness or while sitting together, when women sit down and get up, there is no objection to their private parts being exposed and seen — such persons.

Their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their own sons, their husbands' sons — when this verse says their husbands' sons, a man may be married several times. He may have sons from different wives. Now this man's sons — apart from their own birth mother, the women who are their father's wives are also in the position of mothers to these children, so for the husbands' sons, within the sharia rules, to see the private areas of these women who are their mothers there is no harm. Their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their own women — when this verse says their own women, this man may have several wives anyway. Therefore, again within the sharia rulings, in their seeing one another's private areas there is no harm.

That is, when it is laid out, written like this here, "uncover it so I can see this place" — that's not what it means; it may be seen by chance. It may be uncovered. When the woman moves, her skirt may open. There is no harm in these. Because they are mahram. There is no marrying these. They are people of the same household. Marriage with these is not possible.

Their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their own women — when this verse says their own women, this man may have several wives anyway, and again within the sharia rulings, for these women to see each other's private areas there is no harm. Some Sufis, however, regarding the visibility of women's private areas, speak of believing women and say there is no harm in these believers (?) the women's private parts — so it is said. And what do we say here? This may be so too. Because in the station of tranquillity she is a lady whose believing nafs has become perfect. No evil comes from these.

However, when it says "your women", the women under the man's own marriage are meant. The compliant persons who do not feel — these are those who have lost their manhood. They are people who have lost their manhood. In this case, if Allah Almighty said "your women", it does not cover only believing women. It covers all women.

Or children who know nothing of women's hidden and private parts. Apart from these, let them not show their adornments to others, it says. And to show their adornments, by stamping their feet on the ground in a rhythm, or making a sound with their feet, drawing attention to themselves, in order to show their adornments to people, let them not display themselves with these movements. In the old days they wore a bracelet on their ankles called a halhal. They would move them like this and make them jingle. And the person would attract people to herself. They called them halhal. Yes. O believers! Turn to Allah in repentance all together, so that you may attain salvation.

O servants with whom Allah is pleased! Cling tightly to Allah's commands, so that against the enemies of morality on earth you may form a front. So that you may bring about love and respect among people. So that you may help Allah's religion. So that, binding yourselves to Allah from the heart, keeping away from what Allah has forbidden, and, for the mistakes you made with the attribute of evil, asking Allah for pardon and forgiveness, you may repent and seek forgiveness, so that you reach Allah's mercy and attain salvation. May Allah Almighty count all of us among the people who join this company. Yes.
