They have the sickness of sedition and jealousy in their hearts. These sicknesses increased due to their lies. There is a severe punishment for them.
Tafsir
People who are so attached to the world and turn their backs on their Lord do not compromise on the temporary blessings of this world. The prohibitions of Allah (swt) do not please them and they become depressed against the religion of Allah (swt). This increases their hatred against Allah (swt). Because of their hatred against Allah (swt) and their inability to compromise with the blessings of this world, they are in a constant state of lying. If, because of their constant lying, such people love the creatures of Allah (swt) and forget the Creator, they are committing polytheism against Allah (swt) because they love the creatures of the Creator more than the Creator. And by lying, they expose themselves to torment.

To Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 10: Towards the religion of Allah, in their hearts are seeds of hypocrisy and envy. Towards the religion of Allah. Because of their lies, Allah has increased their punishment. Their lies. Because of them, they have increased their own punishment. Because of their lies. Surah Al-Baqarah — give me two minutes. Let's look at these wrongly interpreted verses. Let's open it.
Yes.
Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 10 was in fact wrongly interpreted there; here we have corrected it: in their hearts is the disease of hypocrisy and envy; because of their lying their disease has increased. For them there is a severe punishment. What was it? Because of their lying, their disease has increased. Indeed — say a person eats contaminated food. If he keeps eating it, the germs multiply in his body, so his illness grows. People who are outside the command of Allah Almighty are like this too.
Yes, now: 'because of their lies' — that can also be — 'Allah has increased their punishment,' we say; we are correcting it here anyway; the verses we will correct them all. They have increased their own punishment.
People who are attached to the world and turn their backs on their Lord make no concession on this world's passing pleasures. What was it? People who are attached to the world and turn their backs on their Lord make no concession on this world's passing pleasures.
That is, for worldly goods they recognise no Allah, no prophet, no book. That is, he makes no concession at all. It must be the world, it must be mine, no matter what. They do not like the prohibitions of Allah Almighty.
And they feel oppressed by the religion of Allah Almighty. Because they cannot follow their wishes, desires and aims. Because He stands in the way, Allah Almighty. So these, since they will always act outside Allah's command, even if they speak the truth, they will surely lie for their own interests. That's one. The real liars, the real liars: at the address 'Elestü bi-Rabbiküm', while in the presence of Allah Almighty in the realm of souls, (?), by denying their Lord, they are liars at the root. Yes.
This state of theirs increases their resentment towards Allah Almighty. Now think of it like this.
You are right. You are right. I am wrong. But that pride and arrogance in me — against your words of truth to me, that is, against your right words, my pride and arrogance make me rebel against you. I rebel against you. 'No, it's not like that, it's like this,' I say. What made me do this?
My usurping your right in the direction my own nafs desired. Although you tell me the truth, because I look after my own selfish interests for this world's gain, daring to disregard your rights, I rebel against every truth you say. That is the state of those who deny Allah. Allah shows them what is right. And they keep denying Allah, that is, rebelling.
This state of theirs increases their resentment towards Allah Almighty. Like this. Because of their resentment towards Allah Almighty, and because they make no concession on the world, on the world's pleasures, they are always in a state of lying. So, in the example I just gave, however much truth you tell, everything I say to you is now a lie. A lie. I'll teach lies now. So that I can try to make myself look right. Because of their constant lying, such people — if they love what Allah Almighty has created and forget their Creator, since they love the Creator's creations more than the Creator, towards Allah Almighty they have committed shirk, and with their lying, this state of theirs increases their punishment.
Here, the one who loves the Creator's — Allah's — creations, that is, not people, but, apart from people, material things; and even if it is a person — if that person serves his lie, if, so that he can profit from him, he helps to rob the other side, he loves him too. Until when? As long as it serves his own interest. But his true, real love is material wealth, money. Yes, money. You make no concession on it. So if one loves what Allah Almighty created and forgets the One who created it, that is, forgets the Creator of that material, forgets his Lord, then the person has fallen into shirk against Allah Almighty.
The greatest love — not to its Creator, but holding the things He created above Allah — those who feel (?) for that created thing, people who worship it, who draw strength from it, who lean on it — they have committed shirk against Allah. As I explained before, what did we say? Whether it's their child, their wife, their closest one, these from their wealth
expect help and draw strength from it. He draws strength from his wealth. The more wealth there is, the more strength he sees in himself. That is, he relies on it. He relies on material wealth. Yet the Creator of everything is Allah. What a fine
guardian, what a fine support, what a fine friend, it says. Allah. If anyone had found strength in his wealth, had found help, it would have been Korah. He held the keys to the treasuries of Egypt. And according to one account, a company of men or forty people carried the keys, the treasury's keys. Once a week he would come out before the people, put on his fancy clothes and, before them, say 'I am clever; with this mind of mine I earned all this,' and lord it over his own Jewish people. One day, while he was again talking like this, Allah Almighty swallowed him up. He buried him in the depths of the earth together with his treasures.
There's the treasure you trusted, your god — and here it is with you too. Earlier, seeing this — him swaggering and talking like this to his own tribe — his tribe used to envy Korah. 'If only we were like Korah,' they said. But when they saw him swallowed up like that one day, 'thank goodness we are not in his place,' they said. So if yesterday you envied that treasure and today you say 'thank goodness we are not in his place,' use your mind and say that always. Say: this wealth belongs to Allah.
The earths and the sky, the heavens and the earth, and what is between them belong to Allah. In that case, while man does not own a single atom of the world, that is, while he is not able to create it either,
this man, of the property of the One who created these atoms, this universe, says 'it's mine.' He claims it as if he himself had created it, and if he turns his back on its Creator, then in this way he sells his world and sells his hereafter too; and so, for his self, in a manifold punishment he finds himself.
