Aleef-Laam-Meem.

Tafsir

(Such verses are called Muqatta verses; only Allah knows what they mean and what they refer to).

Allah's Word is based on letters. In the above verse, what Allah means by the letter (Elif), what He means by the letter (Lâm) and what He means by the letters (Mim), their meanings are in Allah's realm! The creatures cannot comprehend and understand them (except for some letters which are not mutakkabih and which are revealed by our Lord as a particle from the sea).

These verses are called mutakabih or muqatta verses. No one can give a meaning or interpret such mutabbih Verses. Only Allah (swt) knows their meanings.

In this respect, in Surah Al-Imran, Verse 7:

It is He Who sent down the Book to the Ummi [the Messenger], and He is He Who sent down the Book as the Muhkam [the Book without any change]. Some of its verses are clear and certain as the principles of the Qur'an. And some of its Verses are mutashabiq. Those who have doubts in their hearts, in order to sow sedition, use their own minds to interpret and interpret the verses of the Qur'an which are ambiguous. However, only Allah knows the interpretation of those mutable Verses. As for those who are steeped in our knowledge, they say, 'We believe in it, and all the clear and obscure Verses are from our Lord. Only those who use their minds and enter the door of that knowledge know these things.

As Allah (swt) says in this verse, no one can give meaning to such mutashabih verses or interpret them. If there are those who recite or narrate such verses by interpreting them, God forbid, they will even enter kufr.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 1: Alif, Lam, Mim. The word of Allah Almighty is built on letters. In the verse above, what does Allah Almighty mean by the letter Alif? What does He intend by the letter Lam, by the letter Mim? Their meanings: Allah knows best. Because, as we said, the word of Allah Almighty is built on letters. These letters are a form of speech in the sight of Allah Almighty. These forms of speech combine, show us a path, and on this path these forms of speech, letters and meanings within one another, are arranged. Within this, what else does Allah Almighty intend, what does He want to say?

Allah knows best. Created beings cannot understand these by comprehending them.

These Alif Lam Mims, Ta Ha, Ya Sin, these muqatta verses. Created beings cannot comprehend these.

Why can't they? What does Allah Almighty, in the seventh verse of Surah Al Imran, say?

verses are muhkam, and some, He says, are muqatta, mutashabih. Only Allah alone knows the meaning of the mutashabih verses, He says. If He says only Allah knows, then those who give them a meaning are zindiqs.

And those firmly rooted in knowledge say this, He says: "All of it is from Allah," they say, He says. And they believe in it, He says. Well, in this case, in this case, we cannot know what Allah Almighty intends with these muqatta verses. We said these verses are called mutashabih or muqatta verses. No one can give such mutashabih verses a meaning or interpret them. Their interpretation only Allah, Allah Almighty, and truly the (?) know, their interpretation. We have put the verse here and written its translation. What did we say? To the unlettered one; who is this? To the Messenger raised by Allah Himself, to the Prophet. To the Messenger; that is, Allah who sent down the Book; it is He who sent the Book down as muhkam, without any alteration.

We will open these verses too when their turn comes, but it will be better if we touch on some things here as we go, we will understand better. When He says the Book without any alteration, that is, as muhkam, in brackets: the Book without any alteration; this word is pure revelation, the verse indicates. That is, into the inspiration He gave the Prophet, Satan cannot enter that frequency. That frequency is a frequency only Allah knows, and this revelation He gave to the Prophet, only Allah Almighty knows that frequency. The frequency of His revelation; for this reason He says it is pure revelation. That is, it is He who sent it down without any alteration.

Some of its verses, as the foundations of the Quran, are clear and definite. These are the legal rulings of the Quran. And some of its verses are mutashabih. That is, muqatta verses that are given no meaning, like Alif, Lam, Mim, Ta Ha. Those with doubts in their hearts, to stir up strife, give them meanings by their own reasoning and follow the interpretation of the mutashabih verses.

No. "This one refers to that," he says. The others like it. He is weak in faith, you see. And the other said it all mysteriously, you see. "Ah, this is it. Look, he gives it a meaning," he says. Yet Allah Almighty, (?), says this to them. Yes. They give meanings by their own reasoning and give interpretations of the mutashabih verse. Yet since He said only Allah knows the interpretation of the mutashabih, no one can give it a meaning anymore. As for those kneaded with Our knowledge, that is, those in the state of ilm al-yaqin, those who, in nafs-i radiye, enter through the door of that knowledge, they say: "We believe in it; all verses, clear and veiled, are from our Lord." Clear: the legal rulings; veiled: the muqatta verses.

Yes, only those who use their reason and enter through the door of that knowledge know these, He says in the verse. In this case, as Allah Almighty decrees in this verse, no one can give such mutashabih verses a meaning. No one can interpret them. If there are those who read or explain such verses by interpreting them, Allah protect us, they even fall into kufr. Yes. It is not a good thing. What did we say? Allah Almighty says so too. Those firmly rooted in knowledge say, He says. What do they say? Clear and veiled: all verses are from Allah. Now how beautiful. We too say to (?) that the arrangement of the Quran (?) (?). However it was arranged, our Lord sent it down this way, so we accept that it was sent down that way, in order.

It was put in order this way; the others do not concern us. Yes, leave it. Look, what a beautiful answer from the verse too.
