When they encounter believers, they say “we also believe”. But when they remain alone with their devils, they say “we are mocking those who believe; verily, we are only with you”.
Tafsir
They say to the believers that they are believers too, thinking that they are deceiving the believers, so that they can take advantage of the Muslims. In fact, the reason why they talk like this is to obtain the blessings of the world, according to the verse (all souls will taste death), without thinking of death, and without caring about the Hereafter, in the enjoyment of this temporary mortal life. However, when they meet their devils, that is, when they meet those who share their beliefs and understanding, they say, "We would never be with them, we are mockers of them". They do not know that they themselves have been mocked. They are humiliated among the believers because of their lies.
What is said in the video
Yes.
When they meet those who believe, they say: we are believers. As I said a moment ago, these hypocrites, yet when they meet their devils — that is, when they come to their own two-legged partisans — they say: would we ever be with them? We are only mocking them, they say. Just look at that. Yet the ones being mocked are themselves. Let us read the commentary on the verse. Thinking in their own minds that they are deceiving the believers, so as to profit from the Muslims, they say to the believers: we too are believers. Look at the lie. Not to the one who gives the blessing — to get that blessing, he flatters the person who is the trustee of that blessing.
Let us open this up a bit more. Allah Almighty gives a blessing to Ahmet Efendi. Ahmet Efendi, within that blessing, knows his Lord and is grateful.
The hypocrite, though — the blessing from the Lord to Ahmet Efendi, the blessing from the Lord — to get that blessing, comes to Ahmet Efendi and says: I too have believed in that Lord of yours. Saying so, he flatters him to get the blessing Ahmet Efendi has. Yet if he turned to his Lord, turned to Allah, turned to the One who created him, perhaps Allah Almighty would give him a greater blessing than He gave Ahmet Efendi. In his own mind, by taking that blessing out of that person's hands, by taking it, flattering that person, he says, sir: I am one of you. That is, he says: I am a Muslim. That is, he says: I believe in the Lord you believe in.
Then why did you come to him for it? Why did you come to deceive him? With your tiny mind, it is actually you who are deceived; he is not fooled. He gives to his Lord, not to you. Yes. And what are you doing, in your own mind? What he gives to his Lord, the blessing his Lord gave to Ahmet Efendi, he too — seeing you as a (?) created by Allah, thinking you are in need, he too gives it to his Lord, for his Lord's sake. Here it is you who are deceived, not him. Yes. We too are believers, they say. In fact, their talking like this, according to the verse 'every soul shall taste death', is so that, without death crossing their minds, in the pleasure of this passing, mortal life, they may obtain worldly blessings without caring about the hereafter.
Yet when they meet their devils, that is, when they meet those who share their own beliefs and understanding: would we ever be with them? We are only mocking them, they say. They do not know that they themselves are mocked. Because of their lies they have been humiliated before the believers. Yes.
Every person will be called to account for what he himself did.
People can deceive people. People, with many tricks and frauds, people's consciences, exploiting them, can profit from them. But this (?), this fraud, this swindling, comes to Allah's door and stops there. It cannot enter through that door.
Why can it not enter? Allah Almighty says this in His verse:
What is in your heart, what you need and yet do not know, what is in the farthest corner of your heart, We know. We know the secrets of hearts, says Allah Almighty. Why does He know? Because your wish and desire — at the address 'Alastu bi Rabbikum' your will was written for you as destiny. And the One who wrote it is Allah Almighty. And the One who gives you those destinies is Allah Almighty. When you were sent to the world of the unseen, la gaybıyla Allah — Allah knows the unseen. Although you do not know what will happen in your destiny a second later, Allah Almighty knows the wishes and desires of the beings and living creatures to come until the Day of Judgment, and what they will do — He knows. So what does the verse say?
We are closer to you than your jugular vein. Yes.
