They are deaf, mute and blind. They do not return from this (darkness) anymore.
Tafsir
People who are subject to their nafs, who have given their hearts to the temptation of Satan, are deaf because their ears are plugged against the Truth.
A deaf person is dumb because he cannot hear. Such people do not want to hear the Word of Allah. They block their ears against the Word of Allah. Since they have no knowledge and information about the Word of Allah, they cannot speak the Word of Allah. In this respect they are mute.
As we explained in the previous verse, a person who remains in darkness, a person who turns his back on the light of Allah, a person who does not see the Truth, is blind. People who live in ignorance of the thousands of miracles of Allah (swt) every day, and who do not see them, are of course blind. Because such people see their egoic states and Satan's temptation as gilded and ornamented, they are very pleased with their state. They do not see the Truth and return to the Truth.
May Allah (swt) protect us all from such a fate. May He include us among His servants who know and serve Him.
What is said in the video
To the eighteenth verse we now move. They are deaf, they are mute, they are blind. They will no longer turn back from that state. Yes. Though his reason knows his Lord, that is, though he knows: I was created by a Lord, his nafs overcoming his reason — those who are with their nafs, faced with the word of truth, they do not want to hear the word of truth. And from where the Truth is spoken they move away. These are deaf. They do not want to hear the word of truth.
They are mute. They never want to speak the truth. They are (?) mute. Otherwise they have tongues; they speak.
This world is the likeness and shadow of the hereafter. This place is a shadow. In this shadow no one is everlasting.
Why? This place is a shadow.
Like the shadow cast when the sun strikes a tree. Those who busy themselves not with the tree but with the shadow — when the sun disappears, the shadow too will disappear. So those who busy themselves with baseless things, baseless, rootless things, who talk of them, they too are mute. Because they have no valid (?).
They are blind; they will no longer turn back from that state, they do not see, cannot see. What? The truth. They cannot see the truth.
The man who has followed his nafs and given his heart to Satan's temptation, because his ears are stopped against the truth, is deaf. Yes.
The deaf man, because he does not hear, is mute. He does not hear. Because he cannot speak the truth. Whatever a man hears, that he will speak. Whatever he knows, that he will say. So this. If he is deaf, has not heard the truth, then because he cannot speak the truth, in the word of truth they are mute.
Such people, since they do not want to hear Allah's word, have stopped their ears against the word of truth, and since they have no knowledge of the word of truth, Allah's word they cannot speak. For this reason they are mute, we said. And also, as we opened up in the verse, the man left in darknesses, who turns his back on Allah's light, who does not see the truth, is blind though he looks. What does Allah Almighty say (?)? Do not be with the dead. Who are these dead? Not the dead in graves. The dead whose heart and nafs have not found (?), have not found life.
Do not be with the dead.
Those who live unaware of Allah Almighty's thousands of miracles every day, people who do not see, are surely blind. This too is a sentence corresponding to a verse. Before your eyes thousands of miracles appear every day, and you do not see; you are blind, says Allah Almighty. These are all, sentence by sentence, the counterparts of verses. Because to such people their carnal states and Satan's temptation have been shown gilded and adorned, they are very pleased with their state. From now on they do not see the truth. They do not see the truth and turn to the Truth. May Allah Almighty, the Exalted, protect us all from such an end and join us to His servants who know His Self and are servants to His Self, we said.
