Tafsir
Allah (swt) addresses us with the verse, "Remember. Who is addressed with this verse? Allah (swt), who created the Prophet of the End Times, the Prophet of two worlds, Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w.), before the creation of the worlds, and created these worlds from his light, is addressing the first of the created beings, Rasul-i Ekrem and Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.), with the word "remember". In other words, as will be explained in this verse, since these worlds were created in a program before our father Adam was created as a corpse, a part of these programs is to be shown to our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Hereafter, with the permission of Allah (swt) as much as He wills. In this respect, our Lord uses the word "remember". The Prophet (PBUH), who came to the worldly realm, uses the word "remember" to remind him of what he saw in the Hereafter.
When Allah says to the angels, "I will create a caliph on the earth" and the angels say to Allah, "Will you create beings who will destroy the earth?" because they do not have knowledge of the unseen, Allah, Who has programmed everything beforehand, says, "You do not know what I know". There are many secrets here. It is a cilve'i Rab'baniyyah that Allah (swt), who made a covenant with human beings in the past, has programmed a series of adventures within reasons in order to send people to a realm of the unseen.
In terms of meaning, a caliph is someone who looks after someone's place. Since all these realms belong to Allah (swt), in this realm of property, which we call the realm of the unseen, the human being, who will look after the place of Allah (swt), the owner of the realms, was created with talent and named human. Again, among all the created worlds, Allah, the Exalted, has made man the sole addressee of His essence, and has given him his soul, and Allah has willed that through man His essence should be known.
Accordingly, since Allah (swt) has given man his soul, he has been granted the equivalent of the verse (Lekad haleknel insane fi ahseni takvim). The meaning is; I have created man in the most beautiful form. (Lehül esma ül hüsna) He says that the most beautiful attributes are mine. In this case, since man was created in the most beautiful form and the most beautiful attributes are Allah's, a question may come to mind. Is Allah more beautiful or is man more beautiful? Since Allah (swt) has not separated man from His essence, but has given him His spirit, He has equipped him with the attributes of essence. Allah (swt) says this because the attributes of essence are among the forms of our Lord, and because man is a juz-isi of our Lord, and for this reason, Allah (swt) creates the phenomena of good deeds and sins in man by making man the addressee of His essence. It is also for this reason that He created man with talent and made him the caliph of the earth. Allah, Who created the universe within a plan and program, says to the angels, "We know what you do not know".
What is said in the video
We left off at Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 30; we come to our lesson. At Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 30, we left off. What (?) are we reading? There is no need to recite the verses. Knowing their translation is enough for us. But people are very keen on Arabic. Let him read it in Arabic; once he has read it, there is no need for a translation. He is a great scholar. Yet what did you understand? You understood nothing. Blessed one, learn in a way you will understand. Learning is also understanding. Yes, remember that your Lord said to the angels: I will create on the earth a vicegerent.
They, that is the angels, while they glorify You with Your praise and sanctify You, said: will You create a vicegerent who will spread corruption on earth, where blood will be shed? And Allah said to them: I know what you do not know. Now, the commentary we have written — we said we would explain it to you sentence by sentence. The sentences correspond to verses. No superstitions, nothing inserted off the top of one's head by human reasoning. If there is any, tell us and we will take it out of there. Allah Almighty begins His verse with "remember" — whom is He addressing, to whom is He saying it?
Before the realms were created, He created the Prophet of the end times, Muhammad, and from his light He created the realms. Isn't it so? It corresponds to the verses. Whom was He addressing? By saying "remember" — the Prophet (peace be upon him). What does He say? I said to the angels, He says, to the angels: I will create a vicegerent on earth.
The word "remember" here is very important. O My Beloved, you too are a witness to this. Because before the realms were created, I first gave your light from Myself, from My spirit, He says. From My spirit. And from your light I created the realms. For this reason, you — ve mâ erselnâke illâ rahmeten li'l-âlemîn. I will send you as a mercy to the worlds, He says. I sent you. And you too are a witness to the word I spoke. "Remember" comes. He makes him bear witness. Witness. Now if I had a conversation with Ahmet Efendi and Mehmet Efendi, and beside me Hasan Efendi or Hüseyin Efendi were present, what would I say to Hasan Efendi?
"Remember" that conversation, I would say. Right? That is, be a witness.
Yes. So Allah Almighty describes the Prophet's (peace be upon him) glory to people very beautifully, but people, by the whims of their nafs, have left intact neither the Prophet's glory nor Allah Almighty's being free of deficient attributes. They have fitted Allah into their own reason. Allah said it like this. By their reasoning the Prophet said it like this. Gabriel came and taught the Prophet. May Allah protect us. These are people who, without knowing what is what, speak haphazardly. Who? I liken them not to scholars but to a child. A child, unaware of itself. What does it do? There is fire. It goes and grabs the fire at once.
What will the grown-ups do? They will bring the fire near its hand and, saying "look, this fire burns your hand", teach it. Those so-called scholars, those wrongdoers, still need to learn. But that whim of the nafs — not that person's learning, but by speaking behind the back of Allah and His Messenger, their own disbelief they increase and bring their own execution upon themselves — wrongdoers, enemies of their own nafs, people. A time will come, it says, when although Allah and His Messenger did not say it, they will say: Allah and His Messenger said it like this, it says. So what does it say here?
Remember that I said to the angels: I will create an Adam on earth. I will create a human. Yes. What are we saying here now? Allah Almighty, beginning His verse with "remember", whom is He addressing? To whom is He saying it? Before the realms were created, He created the Prophet of the end times, the master of both worlds, Muhammad (peace be upon him), and from his light the realms He created. And from his light He created the realms. For this reason, addressing the first of created beings, the Noble Messenger and Honoured Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), He uses the word "remember". Remember. So look what Allah Almighty says now.
In one verse, the angels and the scholars bear witness to the existence of Allah, it says. The angels and the scholars. And if the scholars bear witness to Allah's existence, then surely the scholar of scholars, above the prophets, created from His spirit, the Prophet (peace be upon him), will surely bear witness to His existence. How beautifully the verses support one another like this. If you know, of course. If you use your reason and don't step outside the verses, and Allah Almighty also has mercy on you and gives you good wisdom, you will know. Yes. We continue. That is, as will be told in this verse, before our father Adam, as a body, was created, before he was even created — pay attention.
The words are very important. Don't pass over the words like a straight railway, as if a train were running on its rails, saying "railway", and move on. Don't pass them by as a straight road. What are we saying? Pay attention to the word. Here, before — that is, as will be told in this verse — even before our father Adam was created as a body, we stress it. Before he was created as a body. We don't mean his spirit. Pay attention to this. We don't mean the spirit. The spirits had been created. In the realm of lahut. The covenant had been made. And Allah Almighty, in order to send it to the visible realm, will clothe it in a body. A body. The spirit exists.
The spirit has been created. Pay attention to the words. As I said, don't pass over them flatly. Now, that is, as will be told in this verse, before our father Adam as a body was created, these events — to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as far as Allah Almighty willed, with His permission, the events are being shown to him. Yes.
They are firing rockets into the air. They are firing rockets into the air. Let them, let them have a little fun. let them have fun. Yes.
So Allah Almighty willed, within a program, to create the realms, and all our spirits He created. Then He turned to the angels and said: I will create a vicegerent on earth. Vicegerent. Well, some people ask me this question. How did the angels know that man would shed blood on earth? They ask the question.
Very simple. We have said that Allah always addresses reason. Reason. Do you never use your reason? However much He addresses reason, if there is no wisdom, you cannot understand. In small, minor places people cannot solve those points. One man, the man who made the sewing machine, made the sewing machine but just could not sew with it. He made it but could not sew. He is about to give up on it. In his dream cannibals surround him. In their hands spears; the ends of the spears have holes. With that fear the man wakes up saying "I found it". When he drills the head end of the needle, in a simple spot, it begins to sew.
Now, in wisdom, people go wrong in small places like this. What does it say? Remember that your Lord, it says, said to the angels: I will create a vicegerent on earth. Vicegerent. Pay close attention. The secrets are unravelled right here. Who is the vicegerent? A vicegerent is one who stands in for someone; the angels immediately realize that Allah Almighty will create him as a part of His Self, that in him glory, fame, existence, ego, everything is found, and that these among themselves will fall upon each other in the passion to be the head; they understand it from this. They understand it from this. Vicegerent.
If vicegerent, everyone is a commander. Everyone will judge within his own will. Within these judgments, people will fall upon each other through their disagreements. The angel senses this.
I will create a vicegerent on earth, He says. Indeed Allah Almighty has given man a part of His spirit. In this case, in this case, what does Allah Almighty say? the angels, since they could not be aware of the situation, saying to Allah Almighty "will You create beings that will drown the earth in corruption?" — in response, Allah Almighty, who every thing beforehand programmed: you cannot know what I know, He says. What is it that they cannot know what Allah Almighty knows? That is, the angels now do not know mankind. they also know the vicegerent will be like this, but Allah Almighty's having power over all things and creating beings — they also know that.
What need is there? A being that will shed blood on earth and fall upon one another You are creating. This point too is very important. The important point here: the being Allah Almighty created, without being programmed — without Allah Almighty programming it — that being programs itself by its own desire and wish. That is the summit of the secret of creation. We always say it. People can make robots. Without putting any program in it, they cannot make that robot do any work. But in that spirit, to which Allah Almighty gave a part of His Self, desire, wish, ego, every kind of whim exists. Because the nafs — that exists too.
Spirit, nafs and life are one; one must know these things. Since in it every kind of, well, desire and wish and ego exists, such a person, with such a feeling, programs himself — that is, that he know Allah, or his Creator, is what He wants. Otherwise, He says, with you in programs, you would know Me by compulsion, says Allah Almighty. You would have to know Me. You could not step outside it; that is impossible. They are robots. For this reason, because people do not know the worth of man, or because man does not know his own worth, he belittles himself. He considers the angels superior. Yet the angels too, from the light of the Prophet, are created. What does Abdulqadir Gilani say?
If man had known his place with his Lord, La mülke illa yevmelî — he would say "today the dominion is mine alone", he says. Dominion today is mine alone. Why? Because your Lord has given you of His part; all the qualities to be able to act in His place He has worked into you. Vicegerent, (?), He has granted you every freedom on earth. You will act by your own will within My command, He says. One charged with a duty by Him. But knowing your Lord within your own will. And if "I did not know" — I will call you to account, He says. When? Well, there was a word (?) from Us. Paradise and hell, He says.
Yes.
One must pay attention to the words. Each word here corresponds to many verses. This is not a human fabrication. These words would not even fit in a human mind. These are the words of each word dictated by our Lord Himself, corresponding to verses. Here, surely, man — what such a person is becomes clear. Such a person. Yes, what are we saying? Now we repeat what we wrote. Allah Almighty saying to the angels "I will create a vicegerent on earth", and the angels, since they could not be aware of the situation, saying to Allah Almighty "will You create beings that will drown the earth in corruption?" — in response, Allah Almighty, who beforehand programmed everything, says: you cannot know what I know.
Many secrets lie here: Allah Almighty, who made a covenant with people in the beginning, in order to send people to an unseen realm, within a (?) adventure programmed it — it is a manifestation of the Lord, we say. Here we pass over this briefly. Because we are explaining it for the general public. Everyone will read this.
We open up "vicegerent" a bit here. A vicegerent is what they call one who stands in for someone. In someone's place. Now, I am the boss of a factory. There is no fault in a comparison. This is a comparison. I am the boss of a factory. I say to someone I trust: you run this place in my stead.
What did you become? You became my vicegerent. One who stands in my place. This world is a factory.
The people on it are workers, and its owner is Allah Almighty. So then, that owner, the owner of these realms, Allah Almighty, on this factory has put every kind of material here. What kind of factory is the world? Allah Almighty — of its iron, its gold, its matter, every kind of food, of clothing, whatever there is — has put it here. Don't you buy the materials a factory will make things with? Allah Almighty too has put all the materials into the factory. And to people He said: come on, there's the field, work it and eat. Work it and eat. The people on it are workers, like this. They will work.
Whose property is this? Allah's. So who are we? Allah's creations, and what kind of person we ourselves are on earth — to prove that, we came to this realm, created beings. But the most honourable being, and beings given a part of our Lord, who says "I created man in the most beautiful form" — that is what we are. In this case, since our Lord created us close to His Self, and since, using our own will, with our own being, with our own abilities, we have the ability to judge, so that we prove on earth what kind of person we are, He brought us and placed us here — He knows it already beforehand. To make known His being free of deficient attributes, so that they would not say: had You sent me to an unseen realm, I would have worshipped You there — for this He created these realms, brought, placed.
So in this realm, people, in their buying and selling, their trade, the conversations they hold, their interests, or by their behaviour towards people, what kind of person they are — that they prove.
Yes. So why did we come to this factory? To prove ourselves. What are we saying now?
We said a vicegerent is one who stands in for someone. Then the vicegerent who stands in for someone —
what will he be like? Let us (?) this part for you a bit. What will he be like? Surely not in some other form. He will be created resembling his Lord. Allah Almighty left the jinn and humans free in their own will. But He did not give vicegerency to the jinn. Nor did He give vicegerency to the many beings He created. So to whom did He give vicegerency? He gave it to man, to man. So if man is a vicegerent, if he stands in for someone, the one standing in must be like the one who has him stand in. That is, as we said, if you take a drop of water from the sea, that water carries the sea's qualities.
Yes. In vicegerency — don't just say "vicegerent" and pass on. In vicegerency, it is a command Allah Almighty gave me. He gave this realm (?). In this realm, well, I use the authority my Lord gave me — don't say that with a simple thought and stop there.
Yes, the command is like that. But if He has not given that authority to any in the realms, if to none of the created He has given it, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) too, if He said "I made My Self a mirror to your self", if He created him the same — Süleyman Çelebi also says it: I made My Self a mirror to your self. Exactly. That is, if He gave a part of His spirit, then surely with His attributes people will be endowed. With those forms, people, as Allah Almighty's representative on earth, will live. His representative. Aren't you a vicegerent? If you are a vicegerent, you are His representative.
He has given you all authority. You have partial will. You have judgment, judgment. You will carry out your judgment, and within this judgment — in this realm to which He sent you as representative, how you governed — you will prove yourself.
Yes.
So we won't just say "vicegerent" and pass on like that.
Vicegerent, it says — they call it one who stands in for someone. They call it one who stands in. Since the realms belong to Allah Almighty, in the realm of dominion that we call the unseen realm, man, who will stand in for Allah Almighty, the Owner of the realms,
was for this reason created capable and received the name human. Capable. Capable from where? From His spirit. Now, again for this reason, among the created realms, it is only man that Allah takes as His addressee; Allah willed that His Self be known through man, we have said. Only — He creates so many realms; here too one must pay close attention — He creates so many realms, but by people He wills His Self to be known. Now, consider this phone you see as a robot, a robot. This does not know me, this does not know me. This mouse doesn't know me either; programmed — they always make its programs, its own program. (?) — even if you made it, it won't recognize you, won't know you.
Because there is no life, no soul — these are matter, matter. But your child, from your own loins, knows you, like you. By his own will, to you as father or mother, or by his own will he makes a judgment. Now, did these created things know Allah — or let's put it this way: did those robots you programmed know you, or your children from your loins, with the decisions they made — did they know you?
One must pay close attention. We go into subtleties, but it is not a subject every person will grasp. Somewhat deep subjects, which further on we proceed by opening up like this. Grasping finer subjects and passing on without dwelling on them right away. We go along working through these places. Yes.
What did we say? Among the created realms, only man does Allah take as His addressee, and through man He willed His Self to be known. Each word corresponds to many verses. Word by word. These — no word here is invented. You won't find anything invented. This book doesn't accept an invented word anyway; at once (?) that word, it comes out at once, yes. Based on this, Allah, Mighty in Glory, and (?), to man gave of His spirit; it is for this reason that man — Lekad halaknel insâne fî ahseni takvîm — to man, well, Lekad halaknel insâne fî ahseni takvîm, He said. That is: I created man in the most beautiful form.
Also, He says: lehü'l-esmâü'l-hüsnâ, that is, the most beautiful attributes are also Mine. How beautifully He says it. What does Allah Almighty say? Hüvallâhüllezî lâ ilâhe illâ hû. Right? El-melikü'l-kuddûs es-selâmü'l-mü'min el-müheyminü'l-azîz el-cebbâru'l-mütekebbir. Allah Almighty lists the most beautiful attributes. They are Mine, He says. So if He says "I created man in the most beautiful form" — and people this point too cannot distinguish; with word games, here they fall onto the stones.
What is form, gentlemen? I'm asking. I may be wrong. Is it not my attribute? My attribute. My attribute must be a form that describes me. But these who say "I am a scholar" say form is separate, attribute is separate. Then what is an attribute?
Yellow, green, red, blue, isn't it? Things, I mean. Attribute. My characters are not my attribute. My forms. If these forms — if Allah Almighty says "I created in the most beautiful form", then I would ask Allah Almighty. Well, I already have Allah's, Allah's attribute in me. What does it say? No one will be able to question Him. Why? Allah Almighty will have (?) all they would ask, and so they won't be able to ask. They will be cut off from questioning. If form had not been attribute, and Allah Almighty had said "I created you in the most beautiful form", I would have said to Him: are You beautiful or am I beautiful?
If You created me in the most beautiful form, Your beauty must be lower than mine. If form is not attribute, if attribute is not form — there you have it. But what does He say? I created man in the most beautiful form, and the most beautiful forms are Mine, He says. How beautifully He says it. So from those most beautiful forms of His He gave us, of His forms, of His attributes.
Yes.
Man will know this, will reach a certain rank, will see the manifestations, and then decide. What are manifestations? Allah Almighty's spiritual appearing in man's heart in every kind of form. But a person whose mind can't grasp it limits it at once. He says: he attributed qualities to Allah. Look what Allah Almighty says. However you see Me, I am its opposite, and the opposite of that, and the opposite of that too, He says. I am its opposite. So Allah Almighty, while in manifestation, bearded, beardless, young, old, aged, without ever vanishing, changing form flowingly — that is Allah Almighty's manifestation in your heart.
In this case, you cannot say He is in this form. But if you ask me, I also know His real form. I also know His real form. I am not a fraud.
Nor am I lying. I say nothing that I cannot prove from a verse. To the Prophet (peace be upon him) — (?) it says — what covered the Sidra (?). He saw once more that he stood upright in his real form. What is its real form? Those who cannot fit it into their mind and head cannot know, of course. It was the form in which He said "I am your Lord" in the address Elestü bi-Rabbiküm. He stood upright in his real form. Yes. If you don't see Elestü bi-Rabbiküm, you can't know the real form.
You can't know it. Yes. Everything is proven. Nothing you say contradicts anything else you say. Whatever you say at the start, it goes on that way. Because it is all the counterpart of what is seen, what has been seen, and the realms that were opened. Doesn't Allah Almighty Himself describe those realms to us? He describes them. Well, if He has sent you there too and shown it, you too describe that place. What's the difference? The difference is your mind's failure to grasp it. So do I leave the religion? God forbid. Then what will happen? You will believe in the unseen. But when you find the truth, you won't deny it.
Don't deny it.
That is, His saying "I created man in the most beautiful form", and His saying "the most beautiful attributes are Mine". How beautiful. And in harmony with each other. Yes.
In this case, man has been created in the most beautiful form, and the most beautiful attributes are Allah Almighty's; then a question may come to our mind, we say now. Is my Allah beautiful, or is man, man more beautiful? Is my Allah beautiful, I say, or is man more beautiful? Allah Almighty, man's self separate. We corrected these parts in the second one. That is: are You more beautiful or am I more beautiful — since He says He created beautifully. It may come to mind. Well, in this case Allah Almighty has not separated man from His Self. Because He gave him of His spirit, Allah Almighty has made known to man that he is of His forms, of the forms of His Self.
For this reason, taking man as addressee of His Self, He creates the matter of reward and sin upon people, and again for this reason, creating man capable, on earth He makes him vicegerent. He gives him His will; because He gave a part of His own Self to man — so that man can prove what kind of being he is — He gives him capability, that is, of His spirit, and gives it to capable man, and that man gains the ability to judge for himself. To judge. People who can't know these points — people write writings. Allah (?) man's disbelief. Allah never again forgives one who denies Him, let me tell you.
He throws him into hell. Strange, strange words. Strange, strange talk. Whereas until the soul reaches the throat, the door of repentance is open.
So doesn't this verse contradict what you say in this matter? So: do not mock any people. That is, do not ridicule. Perhaps that people is better than you — with that saying, sir, don't these verses contradict what you say? Then (?) repenting, and Allah Almighty decreeing pardon and forgiveness. Did you get up and decide in Allah Almighty's place, as if you knew the unseen?
Yes.
Allah Almighty, who created the universe within a plan and program, for this reason says: what you do not know, We know. These realms until the Day of Judgment are programmed. Nothing is outside Allah Almighty's knowledge. He willed, He created these realms. What does it say in His verse? There is not a single living being to come until the Day of Judgment whose doings We do not know. What does this show us? Allah Almighty's programming what He creates until the Day of Judgment and Allah Almighty's being continuously in this universe in the state of creating. Creating. What does He create, Hodja?
You know: whatever is wet and dry — in the Quran — with Us is a book, preserved in the Preserved Tablet, to which afterwards neither anything is added nor anything removed. Then what does He create, Hodja? His creating is creating events that will prove what kind of person people themselves are. Bringing about causes according to their desires and wishes. Causes. And because He is guarantor of His creatures' sustenance, according to that verse, creating the sustenance of His creatures. It is all in the Quran.
Yes.
