Translation

We then forgave you so that you would be grateful (to Allah).

Tafsir

The Children of Israel, realizing that they had wronged their souls with this warning of Moses, repented to Allah (swt). Allah, who is abundant in mercy and compassion and accepts repentance, accepted the repentance of the Children of Israel so that they would be grateful, so that they would not fall into such mistakes again, and so that they would be a good example for those who came after them.

Allah (swt) knows what will happen from the beginning to the end of all these events, He has written the script, created the causes and made the events unfold according to the will of the people.

What is said in the video

Thumma afawna ankum min ba'di dhalika la'allakum tashkurun: then We forgave you so that you might be grateful. Allah Almighty: the Children of Israel, who through this warning of Moses understood that they had wronged their own selves, together turned to Allah Almighty in repentance. Allah Almighty, abundant in mercy and compassion, who accepts repentance often, accepted the repentance of the Children of Israel, so that they would be grateful, would not fall again into such mistakes and would be a good example to those who come after them. That is, here, although Allah Almighty knows what everyone will do, our Lord's attribute as-Sabur, patience.

He symbolises this for us here. The verse of Allah Almighty, who forgives repentance often, here symbolises this for us. Although He knows everything, He forgives them for their repentance. Again they do what they will do, but they are held captive in that desert of Tih. Allah, who knows from beginning to end what will happen in all these events, has written the scenario. Creating causes, He brings events about according to people's wishes.

What does it say? Then We forgave you so that you might be grateful. The Children of Israel, who through this warning of Moses understood that they had wronged their own selves, together turned to Allah Almighty in repentance. And Allah Almighty, abundant in mercy and compassion, who accepts repentance often, accepted the repentance of the Children of Israel, so that they would be grateful, would not fall again into such mistakes and would be a good example to those who come after them. Allah, who knows from beginning to end what will happen in all these events, has written the scenario; creating causes, He has brought events about according to people's wishes.
