And remember that We gave the Torah to Moses, for those among you who would differentiate between right and wrong.
Tafsir
Just as the Holy Qur'an was revealed one by one, the Torah was revealed to Hazrat Moses. The verses in the Torah are given as Furqan [rulings] so that they can be better understood, so that truth and falsehood can be separated. Hazrat Musa stayed on Mount Tur for forty nights. He spoke to Allah (swt) without any intermediary and was exposed to His Word. He received some orders from Allah (swt). In order to better understand the orders and directives received by Hazrat Musa in his conversation with his Lord, and to help distinguish between truth and falsehood within this meaning and concept, Furqan, i.e. judgments, were given. It was for his people to better understand the commands and prohibitions of Allah (swt).
What is said in the video
In Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 53, what does it say now? And remember that We gave Moses the Torah and the Furqan, which separates truth from falsehood, so that you might find the right path. Just as the Holy Quran came down gradually, that is, just as the Holy Quran came down gradually, the Torah too was sent down to Moses. So that the verses in the Torah would be better understood, the Furqan, that is, rulings, are given, so that the rulings separate truth from falsehood. Moses stays forty nights on Mount Sinai, speaks with Allah without intermediary, is honoured with His word, and receives certain commands from Allah Almighty.
So, the commands and directives Moses received in speaking with his Lord in his intimate prayer, for the verses in the Torah sent down by Allah Almighty to be better understood, the Furqan, which helps separate truth from falsehood within this meaning and concept, that is, rulings being given, so that his people hold more firmly to the commands and prohibitions of Allah Almighty, in this. Yes. Now those commands called the Furqan are already here. Where is it? Within Surah Al-Baqarah. Sir, let us read again. It was going to support the verses, after all. What does it say? In verse 83 there are 8 commands.
8 of them. 1. In the past We took from the Children of Israel: you will worship none but Allah. One, to parents. Two, to close relatives. Three, to orphans. Four, to the poor you will do good. Five, a promise, and speak kindly to people. Six, perform the prayer. Seven, give the zakat. Eight, so We had commanded. We had commanded. In the end, except for a few of you, you turned away and left, it says. What is it then? The Ten Commandments of the Torah, that is, the Furqan, are within these eight commands, in verse 83. In 84 there are two of them as well. What does it say now? O Children of Israel, that you would not shed one another's blood, that you would not drive one another out of your homes, We took a promise from you.
These verses are wrong, we (?) them. That is, when they made the covenant, seeing everything, in the end you accepted these, it says. In this situation, although Allah Almighty sent these commands of His to them, although He sent them His commands that would give them life, this people is a fierce people and a people that is the mischief of the earth, a people that never rests on earth, that constantly stirs up mischief on earth; in the end this people was cursed.
