After this, you did wrong (in the worldly life). Had Allah’s mercy not been upon you, indeed, you would have been among the losers.
Tafsir
Among this people, there were also those who, when they made a covenant with Allah (swt) in their address to Allah (Elestu bi Rabbikum), disbelieved in Allah (swt) and inscribed their own nature as rebels against Allah (swt).
Because people do not know what kind of covenant they have made with Allah (swt), they appear to be obedient to Allah (swt) because of the hardships and fears they suffer in the realm of property, but when they reach prosperity and comfort, they turn back to their own nature, throwing away the covenant they made in their moments of fear.
It is necessary to know with certainty that those who enter into a covenant with Allah (swt) in the previous eternity and have their covenant written down as their destiny according to their will and desire, in no way, no human being and all created beings can break that covenant and change their destiny.
(Then you were mistaken (in the life of the world)) means the hypocrites who, as we have explained above, pretend to believe in Allah while they are in the world, in times of fear and hardship, and then when they are at ease, they think that they can deceive Allah (swt) because they return to their nature. That is why Allah says: They were mistaken in the life of this world.
(Had it not been for Allah's bounty upon you, you would certainly have been among the losers).
What is said in the video
We come to verse 64: then you turned back on your word — these, these verses have been corrected, but the commentaries were explained correctly: had it not been for Allah's grace upon you, you would surely have been among those who suffer loss, loss. Among this people, while giving a covenant to Allah, Exalted in Majesty and Most Holy, some gave their own nature as rebellious against Allah — there were such too.
Because these people did not know what kind of covenant they had given Allah Almighty, in the material world, due to the hardship and fears they suffered, though they seemed obedient to Allah, when they reached salvation and ease, the word they gave in fearful moments they brushed aside and returned to their own nature.
The hypocrites of these people.
In that fearful moment he looked for a savior. He appeared to obey that savior. but when he reached salvation, what did he do? He returned to his own nature. Our ancestors have a proverb for them: if tar is boiled, can it become sugar? Spit on its breed, it takes after its breed, it says. These too, whatever covenant they gave in the realm of the Hereafter, to that covenant they will return. Yes. We now state this definitively, since the verse was explained wrongly. This must be known definitively like this: those who in the primordial beginning made a covenant with Allah Almighty, and who by their partial will had their wishes and desires written as their destiny — no human, and indeed none of all created beings, can break that covenant and rise above Allah, Exalted in Majesty and Most Holy.
That is, they cannot break the covenant our Lord has written. Impossible. Because his wish settled in him as character traits. Those traits, what he will do at which time, were bound to a program. Within those programs, Allah, Exalted in Majesty and Most Holy, in this whole universe, not in one person alone, giving living beings their provision second by second, creating causes for them at every moment, and within those causes all living beings receiving their provision within their own natures, and, while receiving this provision, through doing good deeds or sins, people proving what kind of persons they are.
This does not fit in our minds. This is within the attribute of Allah being Allah.
Yes. Here Allah Almighty, at the same time, the verses 'unless We will, you cannot will' we keep repeating constantly like this; the reason we repeat them is that what you could not understand in one place, in another place you can understand better — this is one; second, some words that are explained, while being explained, in reflection, a person's (?) develops a little more as discovery. Third, for our newly arrived brothers, as they listen, the words that remain foreign to them, even partially, to have opened them up. Therefore, since the verses also support one another, supporting verses with verses is proving to people what they do not know.
Yes. In this case, the verse 'unless We will, you cannot will'. With Us is a Book, which is preserved in the Preserved Tablet. After that, in the Book of which He says nothing is added and nothing is taken away, all created beings' programs are present too. Everything. Whatever exists. If wet and dry are in the Quran, all of it is present in it. So since nothing can be added to it or taken from it, O people, in the address Elestü bi Rabbiküm, when I said I am your Lord, when I made covenants with you one by one, (?), if to you as a wish, if I wrote your wish as destiny, for you to change this writing is not possible. This can only be by My power.
Only I possess this knowledge. But since We will not lift your will from you and make inequality among My servants, since I have left you free with your will, now the matter of changing this destiny of yours is gone, He says. Whatever wish and desire there is, it is your wish and desire. Although changing your destiny is in Our hands, your wishes and desires, your will, I am not going to interfere with. If I had interfered with your wishes and desires, your will, Allah Almighty — I would have abolished Hell, He says. Hell. Because His mercy is very abundant. So a word went forth from Us. Can those who know and those who do not ever be equal, He says.
And I created Paradise and Hell, He says. How beautifully (?) supports one another here. Yes. That is why: unless We will, you cannot will. One day, after Khalid ibn al-Walid became Muslim, Khalid ibn al-Walid's friend — these were commanders, polytheist commanders — Amr ibn al-As comes to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He offers his hand, he is going to pledge. He pulls his hand back. He stretches out his hand again, pulls it back again. After doing it two or three times, finally he gives his hand. Bilal the Abyssinian asks Amr ibn al-As. He says, after he went out, You stretched out your hand several times and pulled it back.
Why did you do that, he says. He says: I was going to say to the Prophet (peace be upon him), he says, the sins we have done until now were forgiven by entering Islam. Let the sins I will commit until I die be forgiven too, I was going to say, I said. It didn't come to my mind, he said.
Immediately Bilal the Abyssinian says, haven't you heard? Allah Almighty says: unless We will, you cannot will. You will live your destiny the way you gave it. Yes.
Here we are also correcting the (?) explained verse. We say: what is meant by 'you turned back on your word', as we explained above, is those who, while in the world, appear to believe in Allah in fearful and hard times, then when they reach comfort return to their own nature, and think they will deceive Allah Almighty: the hypocrites. The hypocrites. This is said in the first sense; the real second meaning, even more deeply, what was it? No one can ever change the nature he gave to Allah Almighty. Yes. Had it not been for Allah's grace upon you, you would surely have been among those who suffer loss.
He said: the grace upon us from Allah Almighty.
This verse.
If you were seized immediately for the mistakes you made, you would not find a single living being walking on the earth, it says.
Then why did Allah not create us without error? There were servants He created without error. He left you to your own will. If I had created errorless servants, He says, I would destroy them, and servants who err I would create, He says. So what is His will here? His will: Allah, besides whom there is no god, and knowing that Allah and taking refuge in Allah — Allah's creatures, all of them besides Allah, as deficient and faulty, knowing their own helplessness and taking refuge in the Creator — this is within the attribute of Allah being Allah.
That is why Allah Almighty created people too of the forgetful kind. For this reason, for the mistakes people have made, He gives them time. Within that time, those who gave Allah Almighty a good covenant, by repenting, turn to Allah Almighty anyway. Yes.
Had it not been for Allah's grace upon you, you would surely have been among those who suffer loss. For the sake of those among you who know Allah Almighty, remember Him and follow His sharia, and also, within a lifetime promised to you, so that you hold your own nature as witness against yourselves and Me, because of the life I granted you, through the mercy upon you you were protected.
