Translation

You indeed know that when your people were prohibited from fishing on Saturdays and when some among you disregarded this prohibition, We gave the command; “Become despicable monkeys!”

Tafsir

Although Allah (swt) knew what this people would do, He tested them in this world with various situations in order to make people witnesses and prove to them what kind of people they were. In order to test the Sabbath people, He imposed a ban on fishing on Saturday. They may fish in the sea six days of the week, except on Saturday, when they may not fish on that day, in accordance with the prohibition of Allah (swt).

Because this people were being tested, there was not a single fish in the sea for six days of the week, but on Saturday, the day when fishing was forbidden, the sea was full of fish. The hypocrites among them say, "Shall we give you a piece of advice?" [According to one narration, the angel appears to them in the guise of a human being] and says, "Build a breakwater in the sea, and when the fish come to the sea on Saturday, close this breakwater, and fish on other days except Saturday.

The people of Sabbath liked this idea of the hypocrites. Even though the scholars of his people warned them that what you are doing is evil, give up this idea, then you will incur the wrath of Allah, they did not pay attention. They keep making waves.

The scholars and people who obeyed Allah (swt) told this people that while you build a wave breaker in the sea, we will build an embankment between you and us, so that if Allah (swt) gives you a calamity, we will not perish with you. Every week, the scholars of his people advised them not to build the wave breaker and informed them that it was a great sin in the sight of Allah. But this disobedient people do not heed the advice of the scholars and do not stop making waves.

They completed the breakers of the waves in the sea, and the scholars completed the barrier they had built between themselves and these disobedient people. The scholars, who had been advising this people every week, came to advise them one week and saw monkeys roaming the city instead of people. They also say that tears flowed from the eyes of these monkeys, and finally they were changed into monkeys with the verse in which Allah (swt) says, "Those who violate this command of Allah (swt), be despicable monkeys".

Our Lord is addressing with the verse (you know that). In other words, the other people of the tribe were aware of these events, and the scholars of the time were witnesses to this event, and it happened in front of their eyes, so He uses the word "you know". May Allah (swt) add us all to the servants of our Lord who obey His commands and prohibitions. May Allah make us a servant to Allah and an ummah to His Messenger with the worship we will do with a beautiful realization.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 65: Indeed you know that when your people were forbidden from fishing on Saturday, to those of you who broke this command We said: Be despised apes. Yes, Allah Almighty, for this people, to test them according to the covenant they gave, places a ban on fishing on Saturday. Six days of the week they will fish in the sea, they may fish; only when Saturday comes will they obey Allah Almighty's ban and not fish. Now

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: not a single fish in the sea. They are under a test, you see. On Saturday the sea teems with fish. They at one point cannot bear it; after one or two tests they resort to a legal trick. A legal trick. What do they do?

In one narration the accursed one comes to them in human guise and says: You on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, six days of the week, do not fish; there are no fish in the sea. On the day there are fish, you have a ban. Build a breakwater.

When the fish come into this breakwater, close the breakwater's mouth. On the other days, fish from there.

These words appeal to them. They (?) start building a breakwater. A breakwater. Thereupon their scholars tell them: what you are doing is a legal trick; this is a test upon us from our Lord; give it up. Despite their saying so, they did not listen to their scholars. They did not listen. Thereupon their scholars began to build a wall between those people and themselves.

Those who see this say: What are you doing? We are building a wall between you and us. Why? If Allah Almighty sends you a calamity, so that we are not struck by your calamity, so as not to follow you. While they build the breakwater, these build the wall. But every week these scholars give them advice, but they do not listen to their advice. The breakwater is finished; the wall these scholars built between them is finished too. Again, the next week, to give them advice, when they go down to their town, they see that apes are roaming the town. And he looks at them; tears flow from their eyes. After living about three days in that longing, they perish.

(?) is like this too. But they became apes. Yes, they became apes. In this case, Darwin's saying that man comes from apes proves this miracle of Allah Almighty, the miracle of the verse. But in a person's nafs let him not rebel against Allah. Although they know this, they still put forward theses that man comes from apes, and on television those ape- shaped people they gradually strip of hair, toward human shape they transform them. How beautifully Allah Almighty says in His verse: They are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth. Indeed, people who cannot grasp the loftiness of humanity's sublimity, who roam the earth like four-legged beasts, those animals see animals as their ancestors, seeing them as ancestors, seeing themselves as their ancestors, Allah Almighty's verses they prove.

They are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth.

If he proves the ape is his ancestor, if he sets out to prove it is his ancestor, then if that ape is an animal, four-legged, these too are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth. Because this people was under a test, not a single fish was found in the sea six days of the week. But on Saturday, when fishing was banned, the sea teemed with fish. The hypocrites among them say: Shall we tell you something? According to one narration, the accursed one appears to them in human guise. Let us build a breakwater into the sea as well. Let us build a breakwater into the sea. When Saturday comes and the fish come into the sea, let us close this breakwater, and fish on the other days, he says.

We have told you about these parts.

The breakwater in the sea is completed. And the scholars complete their own breakwater. Allah Almighty tells them: Be apes, and they become apes.

Look what our Lord says here. He addresses them with the verse: You know that. That is, the other people of the nation were made witnesses to this event; it took place before their eyes, an event. You know that... who knows? The events that happened before their scholars' eyes. yes
