Translation
Moses said, “Allah says the following: ‘It is a cow which has not been yoked, not used to till soil or to water crops, one which is roaming freely and without any spots.’” They said, “Now you told us the truth,” and slaughtered the cow. They almost didn’t do it.
Tafsir
When Allah revealed the exact description of the cow to Hazrat Moses, they were forced to slaughter it reluctantly. (They almost gave up slaughtering it) Our Lord declares that they slaughtered the cow by force, according to the verse.
It is narrated that Allah made them slaughter the cow because of their superstition of worshipping the cow, in order to remove the people's superstition of worshipping the calf.
What is said in the video
they will say, that is. Moses said: Allah Almighty says this. It is a cow not yet put under the yoke, that has not yet gone under the yoke, that does not plough the land or water the crops, that roams free, with no spot at all in its colour.
He describes it completely. Now (?), they said, and thereupon that cow they slaughtered. They very nearly gave up slaughtering it. Had they given up slaughtering it, there destruction would have become due upon them. Destruction. When Allah Almighty made the cow's description fully known to Moses, they had to slaughter the cow against their will. "They very nearly gave up slaughtering it." According to this verse, our Lord declares that they slaughtered the cow under compulsion. Allah Almighty's purpose in having them slaughter the cow was also to do away with this people's false belief, the worship of the calf.
The Samiri made a calf, you know; according to one narration the accursed one got inside it; from the wind it would low; he was a craftsman, they say. Whenever the wind blew, the calf would low. Whenever the wind blew. In one narration, Satan got inside it and made it low. What does he say? Moses lost track of his Lord. His Lord is here. Sir, he went to (?) place, he said; and again, after Moses, this Jewish nation that had seen so many events began worshipping the calf again. When Moses came down from Tur, he seized the beard of Aaron, his elder brother, and said: O son of my mother, I entrusted these to you, is this how I was to find them from you? And when he treated him harshly, O son of my mother, he says, they did not listen to me; however much I told them, sir, this man called the Samiri made this calf, and these people turned to it; I did not have the strength against them, he says.
In the end they feel remorse again, they break the calf, they melt that gold. So these people, love of the calf had settled into their hearts; they did not want to slaughter the calf.
