Tafsir
Allah informs the believers of their duty of servitude and tells them how to worship Allah and says: "Do the prayers" and "worship Allah five times a day". The times will be described in the verses that follow. Those times will be explained to you in more detail there. Here, we will continue our subject by briefly describing the times of the five daily prayers. These are Fajr, Noon, Asr, Maghrib, Maghrib and Isha prayers. (Do the prayer), that is, continue to serve Allah. In one of the verses of the Qur'an, Allah says, "What shall We do with you without your worship? In this respect, he informs us to be a servant of Allah by continuing our worship and preserving our faith. (When Allah says, "Give the zakat," He created human beings mentally incomplete. In this respect, a person can commit bad deeds thinking that he is doing good. Here, too, a person may have mixed haram in his property, thinking that he is earning halal. Others may also have rights in the goods he gives to us. For this reason, Allah says, "Give zakat so that you may purify your wealth and Allah may increase your wealth. At the same time, could not Allah (swt) also give to others what He has given to us? The sovereignty of property is in the hands of Allah (swt). Of course He would give to whomever He wanted. So, Allah, who tests us, being kind and merciful to His servants, invites people to do good deeds by giving zakat and helping each other. These good deeds lead to the development of the poor among us as a result of solidarity. It also cleanses us from the haram that we have unknowingly mixed into our property. In this respect, he says, "Give the zakat. You will find every good deed you have done beforehand in the sight of Allah; (Fa man ya'mel miskala zerratin fan yerah. And men ya'mel miskâle zerratin sharran yerah), He says, "Every iota of good you have done will be written down and every iota of evil you have done will be written down. Every good deed and evil deed, good and evil, is written down in full and complete. Every particle of the entire universe is in the view of Allah (swt). Allah (swt) is not unaware of His creation. No creature can step out of His view. So every action taken, every breath taken, is known by Allah. In this respect, our good deeds will be written down in full and will be presented to us on the Day of Judgment as complete as our earnings in the world. If our rewards are heavy there, then we will be among those who have attained Salvation.
Allah (swt) sees what we do without any defect means that Allah (swt) does not sleep, nor is there any slumber, nor is there any absent-mindedness with Allah (swt). He is free from deficient attributes. He is always on duty. A moment's withdrawal of His gaze from the universe means that the universe is complete. In this respect, every deed done is determined by him without flaws.
What is said in the video
Perform the prayer, give the zakat.
Hodja, does Allah Almighty say "perform the prayer" in the Quran? Not just in one place, He says it in many places. That is why we say, we say: Ahmet's, Mehmet's, Hasan's, Hüseyin's, and my book too, don't read them. Read the Book of Allah. First read the Quran, then read everyone's books. So that you, with sound reason, can compare what people have written and come to a decision.
Otherwise, take and read people's books, Abu Ahmet's book, Abu Mehmet's book, take and read them: behind every word in their works lies an error, behind every writing lies a superstition. Take them and read them. Then how will you get these superstitions out of these people's minds? You will take these words, this Ahmet's and Mehmet's book, and (?). Because you have no knowledge either. You take them to be true. Take these verses of Allah to them. What does our Lord say? If He just says: learn it with its translation, that settles it. That settles it. And it will bring people into the light. They have taken the Quran away from in front of us.
Only a hafiz who memorizes the Word. Read, read it dryly, by rote. Dryly, by rote. Hodja, don't you like the hafizes? God forbid. How could I not like them? They recite the Word of Allah. But a hafiz, that is, a memorizer, is also needed. Hafizes are needed too. He has his duty too. But knowledge is something entirely different. Knowledge. Knowledge is knowing its meaning. Grasping its translation. That is something entirely different. Yes. When we know this, we will get ourselves out of it. Little by little. To those who believe, Allah Almighty, by making known their duties of servanthood, declares how worship is to be done.
Perform the prayer. Worship Allah five times a day, He commands. Worshipping Allah five times a day. That is what this verse means. But Hodja, there is no "five times" here. In many places Allah Almighty describes how the morning prayer is, when the noon prayer is to be performed, when the afternoon prayer is to be performed, when the evening and night prayers are to be performed. Yes. He describes five times. We will come to all of them, God willing. We will read them all. Yes.
The times will be described in later verses. We write that here as well. The times will be described. There we will explain those times to you in more detail. Here we will briefly describe to you at which times the five daily prayers are performed and then continue with our topic. These are the morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night prayers. Perform the prayer. That is, keep up your duty of servanthood to Allah. In one verse He says: if it were not for your worship, if it were not for your worship, what would We do with you? How beautiful. We always explain the verses to people through verses.
In this respect He makes known that, by keeping up worship and protecting our faith, we are servants of Allah. What is worship, then? It protects our faith. Worship does. But Hodja, there are so many people. Does worship protect their faith? Yes. It protects one's faith, even if only a little, but only if it does not go against this hadith. What is that? If the worship you do does not keep you from evil, it is a burden on you. So why are we to worship? To protect our faith. So that we are stripped of the evils and worldly attachments in our hearts, so that we turn to good. Acts of worship remain an obligation for us.
Yes.
when He commands: give the zakat, Allah created people deficient in reason. In reason. For this reason, a person may do bad deeds thinking he is doing good. Here too, a person may have mixed the forbidden into his wealth, thinking he earns lawfully, without knowing. Within the wealth He has given us, others may also have a right. For this reason, give zakat so that you purify your wealth. So that you purify your wealth. And so that Allah increases your wealth, He commands. If you give zakat, purify your wealth. In the provision given to you, the orphan, the destitute, those in need have a right. It is not yours alone.
So give one fortieth of it, which is My right, to My servants, He says. Give. If you give, I will purify the zakat, the forbidden things you mixed into your wealth without knowing, and I will bless your wealth, says Allah Almighty. Very beautiful. Allah Almighty makes us, makes us clean, clean. Yes.
For this reason, give the zakat so that you purify your wealth and Allah increases your wealth, He commands. Also, could Allah Almighty not have given the wealth given to us to others as well? Of course He could have. The sovereignty of all dominion is in the hand of Allah Almighty. Of course He would have given whatever He wills to whomever He wills. So Allah, who tests us through one another, because He is compassionate and merciful to His servants, by having us give zakat, invites people to earn reward by helping one another. To earn reward. In this way we will benefit from one another. We will earn reward. And as a whole we will preserve unity and togetherness, the unity and togetherness that Allah wants to see in us.
We will turn to our Lord. How does this come about? Through charity, through helping one another, through zakat. Yes, with these good deeds, as a result of solidarity, it becomes a means for the poor among us to rise up. It also purifies us of the forbidden things that got mixed, that we mixed, into our wealth without knowing. For this reason, give the zakat, He commands. He says these things for our own good. I am not going to take that wealth of mine to the hereafter. Only if I give from my wealth will I take what I gave to the hereafter. I earned it, didn't I, I spent my life on it, didn't I; in return for what I spent, for that wealth I earned, I will leave my worldly wealth in this world, and in return Allah Almighty will grant me a higher station there in the highest paradise, will give it. Who? With their lives and their wealth, He says, they buy paradise.
With their lives, the martyrs; with their wealth, the generous, those who give charity for Allah. Yes.
Every good you have done beforehand you will find with Allah. Fe men ya'mel miskâle zerretin hayran yerah. Ve men ya'mel miskâle zerretin şerran yerah. With this verse He commands: an atom's weight of good you have done is recorded, and also an atom's weight of evil you have done is recorded. Every good and bad deed done, good and evil, is recorded without omission or lack.
Every atom of the entire universe is within the sight of Allah Almighty.
Allah Almighty is not unaware of what He has created. No being can get out of His sight. So every movement made, every breath taken is known by Allah. For this reason, our good deeds are recorded without omission, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be presented to us in full, like our earnings in this world. In full. There, with our rewards, we will be among those who attain salvation abundantly, not abundantly, we will be among those who attain salvation, by our rewards.
Allah Almighty sees what we do without omission. Sees without omission. (?) Neither sleep nor drowsiness overtakes Allah Almighty. He is free of deficient attributes. He is on duty at every moment. If His gaze were withdrawn from the universe for a moment, it would mean the universe's "kun fe yekûn". For this reason, every deed done is recorded in His presence without omission.
Perform the prayer, give the zakat. Every good you have done beforehand for yourselves you will find with Allah. Surely Allah sees what you do without omission. In this verse, to people Allah Almighty has been saying that there is no god other than Himself, continually, since the world was founded, since our father Adam came into the world. But among people, within their own ideologies, there appear those who turn their backs on Allah, those who deny, those who see the world only with these outward eyes and worship it, those who are with it, or those who, by their own reason, associate partners with Allah and worship idols.
In this situation Allah Almighty calls out to those who believe, separately from them. What does He say? Perform the prayer. Ve ekîmu's-salâte ve âtu'z-zekâte. Perform the prayer, give the zakat. Every good you have done beforehand for yourselves you will find with Allah. This world is temporary. We are all "fişseyyah" in this world. That is, we are travellers. Certainly the end of this road will come one day. We will return to the realm of the hereafter, our true realm, our homeland. And as our Lord made known to us in His verse, He says: the end of every matter will return to your Lord. So before returning there, while we have the chance, we must be mindful of Allah's commands and prohibitions and, by doing what our Lord says, go to the hereafter with a good gain.
In this situation, so that our gain is great and His mercy is not lacking over us, what does our Lord say? Perform the prayer, give the zakat. Why should we give zakat? It purifies the forbidden things we unknowingly mixed into our wealth. Plus, all that Allah has created are servants of our Lord. Allah Almighty does not discriminate between His servants. Because He tests us through one another, what does He say? Give the zakat. So they too were My servants. I could have given to him as I gave to you. But I sent you to this world to test you through one another. So give to those servants of Mine from the wealth I have given you.
One fortieth of that wealth is the right of those servants of Mine. Give it to them. In this case, they are your brothers and sisters. Bringing about unity and togetherness in religion. People loving one another for Allah in religion comes about only through zakat, through helping one another. So in this way our Lord, by having us give zakat, by making us help one another, binds us together as the sand in cement binds it. Yes. To those who believe, Allah Almighty, by making known their duties of servanthood, how worship is to be done, declares: perform the prayer. Worship Allah five times a day.
First of all, the duty of servanthood. Our Lord who created us says: if it were not for your worship, what would We do with you? So our faith in Allah Almighty, and in order to draw near to our Lord in the best way through worship, to earn His mercy, one of the most beautiful forms of worship is the prayer. The prayer is the pillar of religion. Why its pillar? Because by serving Allah Almighty with the five daily prayers, with my bodily movements, I make all people witnesses of myself. All people, non-Muslims too. Through the acts of worship we do with bodily duties.
We say the times will be described in later verses. We will describe them. Later on, Allah Almighty describes the morning prayer. He describes the noon, the afternoon, the evening, the night, all of them. Later on, when these times are, which hours they correspond to, which are not fixed hours, the hours move back and forth according to the earth's rotation. According to the sun's movement, the earth's rotation, the sun's movement, He makes the times known. For example, at a certain rise of the sun, the time of imsak begins in the night. Then, from the imsak time until sunrise, it is the time of the morning prayer.
After sunrise, about 45 minutes, until the sun has risen one spear's length, is the disliked time; you cannot pray this prayer then. Those who could not pray the morning prayer at that time can pray it until the noon prayer. For the noon prayer there is again the zawal time. The sun reaching exactly its zenith. The shadow falling exactly to zero point, right beneath. Here, a minute or two later, when the sun with its movement passes that zawal point, the call to prayer is recited and the noon time begins. The afternoon time is when, after we plant a stick at noon time, its shadow grows to twice its length. That is, when the shadow is double.
The shadow twice the stick. That is the afternoon time. Then He describes the evening time. When the redness in the sky, in the clouds, that is, after the sun has set, while it sets, that red glow appears. The sun has set, that red glow appears, in the sky, in the clouds, a red glow appears. Then, when that red glow goes and a brightness appears, the night prayer's time comes. Allah Almighty will make all these times known to us through verses.
we said we would explain them to you in more detail there. Here we will briefly describe to you at which times the five daily prayers are performed and then continue with our topic. These are the morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night prayers. (?) the morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night prayers. Perform the prayer, that is, keep up your duty of servanthood to Allah. In one verse He says: if it were not for your worship, what would We do with you? In this respect He makes known that, by keeping up worship and protecting our faith, we are servants of Allah. Yes. A day, says the Prophet (peace be upon him), five times taking ablution, what does it do?
A person being cleaned: would any dirt remain on that person, he says. If I washed my body five times a day, or washed my clothes, would any dirt remain? Just so, Allah Almighty cleanses us with these five daily prayers of the small sins we have committed. When a person stands for prayer, the noble angels on his left side take his sins from him. They take him, take that record book from his shoulder, and bring him sinless before our Lord. Then, when he returns from our Lord's presence, that is, when his prayer is finished, the angel says to Allah Almighty: O my Lord, shall I give his sins back to him?
And Allah Almighty says: it is not befitting My glory that we give his sins back to him. Erase them, He says. So between these two prayers, the small sins people have committed are erased. This is the beauty of the prayer. The prayer, which He called the pillar of religion, is fulfilling the duty of servanthood to Allah Almighty. An act. Through practice. Through bodily practice.
yes, when He commands "give the zakat", Allah created people deficient in reason, deficient in reason; for this reason a person may do bad deeds thinking he is doing good; here too a person may have mixed the forbidden into his wealth, thinking he earns lawfully; within the wealth He has given us, others may also have a right. Of course, Allah Almighty also gives us here the right of someone else. For example, the provision for our children's living He gives to the head of the family. He makes him head of the family; by giving them (?), he fulfils Allah's command and earns reward. If that head of the family does not look after his family well, if he squanders their provision here and there, that head of the family is responsible for it.
Yes. within the wealth He has given us, others may also have a right. For this reason, give the zakat so that you purify your wealth and Allah increases your wealth, He commands. Whoever gives zakat, whoever gives his zakat fully, Allah grants blessing to his wealth. He increases his wealth. When giving zakat, people get very distressed. They get distressed. They come up with endless excuses. Can a person be so reluctant to give Allah's wealth to Allah? Can he shy away from it? If you give that wealth of yours, Allah (?); He gave you that wealth anyway, He created it. Allah Almighty needs nothing.
So give it wholeheartedly, and give more than enough, more than enough. And may Allah, according to your heart, grant you abundantly in return. Whoever makes a gift to Allah, and this gift is not because Allah needs it. A gift to Allah's servants is giving to Allah. To Allah. And Allah Almighty grants that servant abundantly because of that gift. In this case, give your zakat, wholeheartedly give a little more, without calculating so deeply, give more, so that Allah both blesses your wealth and raises your rank. What does He say? We multiply according to the good deeds you have done: one to three, one to five, one to seven, ten, seventy, a hundred, He says.
We multiply. So when you do something, do it from the heart, from the heart, willingly, so that you attain the gifts He grants most abundantly. Don't be (?) when giving zakat. I know many such people. With selfish feelings: if I do this like this, will it stay mine? Give this one here like this, that one there, this one here, and so on. And comes up with endless excuses to (?). To cut it down. And the more they cut it down, the more Allah Almighty cuts them down. How does He cut them down? They are exposed to such hardships. They are exposed to such distress. Doesn't he grasp it? He does, but love of wealth is half his life.
That is why he cannot part with it. Yes.
Also, could Allah Almighty not have given the wealth given to us to others as well? Of course He could have. The sovereignty of all dominion is in the hand of Allah Almighty. Of course He would have given to whomever He wills, whomever He wills. To whomever He wills. So Allah, who tests us through one another, His servants, because He is compassionate and merciful to His servants, by having zakat given, people's mutual help He brings about.
(?) invites them to earn reward by helping one another. With these good deeds, as a result of solidarity, it becomes a means for the poor among us to rise up. As I explained a moment ago. It also purifies us of the forbidden things that got mixed, that we mixed, into our wealth without knowing. For this reason, give the zakat, He commands. Give the zakat. Every good you have done beforehand you will find with Allah. Certainly every good deed is being recorded with Allah. There is not an atom's weight of good you have done that is not recorded. There is not an atom's weight of evil you have done that is not recorded.
What do we say anyway? Ve men ya'mel miskâle zerretin hayran yerah, ve men ya'mel miskâle zerretin şerran yerah; with this verse He commands: an atom's weight of good you have done is recorded, and also an atom's weight of evil you have done is recorded. In this case, with the good deeds we have done, if to the hereafter, to that endless realm, our eternal home, we pass on, do you know what we will say? Alas! If only I had given this too for my Lord in the world. If only I had given this to that servant my Lord created as well. We could bring nothing here except reward. Wealth and property belong to Allah.
What does the verse say? The heavens and the earth. The inheritance of what is between the two belongs to Allah, He says. And of course, Allah is the everlasting, Allah is the Creator. Wealth is Allah's. So we are the guardians, the trustees of that wealth, and when we take this wealth, in return for our actual dealings with one another, we receive our rewards and our sins. A world of testing. Yes.
Every good and bad deed done, good and evil, is recorded without omission or lack. Because Allah is the possessor of justice. He is the judge of judges. E leysallâhu bi-ahkemi'l-hâkimîn. Just as there is no deficiency in that Judge of judges, there is no injustice either. Let us pray, let us pray. Let us be judged not by the good we have done, but by taking refuge in Allah's mercy. Even if the good we have done were more than our sins, if we relied on our good deeds and wished our Lord to judge us according to the worship we have done, we could not bear it. That is why, not by the good we have done, but by taking refuge in Allah's mercy, let us ask to be judged.
Yes.
For this reason, our good deeds are recorded without omission, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be presented to us in full, like our earnings in this world. So with our rewards we will be among those who attain salvation abundantly. That is, however much reward we earn, our Lord, in return for those rewards we earned, according to our intentions, by increasing these rewards of ours, because of our obedience to our Lord, our faith, our loving devotion to Him, our Lord forgives us our sins and increases our rewards abundantly. In the highest paradise He grants us more and more. Yes, Allah Almighty sees what we do without omission.
That is, the meaning is: there is not an atom that He is unaware of. He is the Creator. So there is not an atom that is outside His rule. So it is He who sees, and He who knows. And it is He who hears its movements, what it does.
Neither sleep nor drowsiness overtakes Allah Almighty. He is free of deficient attributes. He is on duty at every moment. If His gaze were withdrawn from the universe for a moment, it would mean the universe's "kun fe yekûn". For this reason, every deed done is recorded in His presence without omission. Yes, it is recorded without omission.
