Tafsir
Allah has the attribute of Life. He is alive with Himself. He does not need any of His creations. All creation is in need of Allah (swt). If He is not in need of any of His creatures, do not those who say that Allah has begotten children slander Allah by attributing shortcomings to Him and ascribe shirk to Him? Those who make this slander know very well that Allah does not need anything. They speak this way out of hatred and suspicion against Allah and Allah alone.
(The heavens and the earth and all that is between them belongs to Allah and to Him they are subject.) The meaning of this verse is that when We say something will happen, it happens. That is to say, We create it according to Our will. The heavens and the earth, the mountains, the stones, the inanimate beings, have they life, intelligence and life in them so that they have submitted to Allah's command according to Allah's command? The fact that Allah (swt) created all these living and non-living things in such a way as to make them recall His Essence, that He created beings with His knowledge and made them move around each other in a certain order and regularity, that He made them recite His Essence according to Allah (swt)'s will, and that He created them in such a way that they could not go beyond His decree, is proof that Allah (swt) does not need anything. In this respect, he says (To those who say that Allah has adopted a child, Allah is far from it).
What is said in the video
There's some tiredness. Don't leave (?) in peace.
Verse 116: Allah has taken a child, they said. God forbid. Far from it! Far from it! He is far above that.
Allah Almighty is far above that. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Kul huvallâhu ehad. Allâhu's-samed. Lem yelid ve lem yûled. Ve lem yekün lehû küfuven ehad.
Allah is One, it says. There is no god but Him.
Allah is the All-Hearing.
Lem yelid ve lem yûled. He has neither child nor family. That is, a wife. He is Allah, One in His essence, subsisting by Himself. Yes. Yet all that is in the heavens and the earth is His. He has no need of a child — the heavens and the earth... Look what it says: yet all that is in the heavens and the earth is His. The heavens and the angels, the people on earth, are His creations. He has no need of a child. Like us, becoming mother and father so we have a child to coo over, or to love, or so it helps us in our old age, or, let me say, so we taste the love of a child — there is nothing like that; all His creations are (?) to His love, and He loves all His creations.
But in the hereafter He shows mercy only to the believer. If His mercy has surpassed His wrath, all in the heavens and on earth are Allah's. Would He take a child and discriminate among His creations? These are the judgments senseless people make by their own reasoning. Yes. Let's continue.
All have submitted to Him, it says in the verse. Let's read it again. They said Allah has taken a child. Far from it, He is far above that. Yet all that is in the heavens and the earth is His. All have submitted to Him. They have submitted to Allah. He is such an Allah that the whole universe, with knowledge, He created, created no being equal to Himself, and created all His creations to be in need of Him, plus, He created them all under His rule. Plus, He is aware of them all, and all are within His power. He created them as the One who has power over all things.
Allah Almighty has the attribute Hayy. Living. That is, the giver of life. Hayy, the Living. He who gives life to His creations and is free of them. Who needs nothing. He is living through His own essence. And the name Hu means subsisting by His own essence — the name Hu.
Self-subsisting, existing by Himself. The attribute Hayy: giving life to His creations but not needing them, the meaning "living". He needs none of His creations. For this reason, created beings are in need of Allah Almighty. Yes. Those who say Allah has taken a child, attributing this to Allah Almighty, — are they not slandering Allah and associating partners with Him? Those who say Allah has taken a child — are they not associating partners through slander? Yes. All who slander like this, who raise such objections, know very well that Allah needs nothing.
Allah Almighty needs nothing.
Solely out of the grudge and suspicion they harbour toward Allah do they speak like this. And it says they spoke like this out of grudge and suspicion. The heavens, the earth and all between them belong to Allah Almighty. This is itself a verse: "The heavens and the earth and what is between them know the remembrance of their Lord", according to that verse. All belong to Allah.
They have submitted to Him. In the verse it says both "they submitted to Me" and "all have submitted to Him". In another verse: He has power over all things. In yet another verse: He knows all things. By these verses, everything is His creation, and our Lord knows its secret — our Lord knows the secret of His creations.
What is meant by this word, that is, what is meant by this verse: We said to a thing "Be", and it is.
He has no need of a child. When He says "Be" to a thing, it is. But this is not with sound and letters. That is, it's not that He said "Be" and it came to be. We have explained this to people several times. We said that Allah Almighty created the heavens in two days, the earth in two days and what is between them in two days; all of it He created in six days. The day of this world was not yet created, so (?) By the days of the hereafter, by His creating, He created it in six thousand years. So it did not happen with sound and letters. And what does Imam al-Ghazali say? "That fool says," he says, "He said 'Be' and it was." Whereas our Lord did not create with sound and letters.
His "Be" is His will: when He wills a thing, He creates it with His knowledge. He brings into being from nothing. That is His will "Be". Once He wills, there is no "not" for it. It happens. Yes. That is, "We create it in accordance with Our will," He says. When He says "Be", whatever He willed, He creates in accordance with His will.
The heavens and the earth,
mountains, stones, lifeless things, according to Allah Almighty's word — do these have soul, mind and life, that they have submitted to Allah Almighty's command, it says? Allah Almighty — in these, is there a soul, is there life? The heavens and the earth — what does it say? All that is on earth is His. All have submitted to Him. On earth, mountains, stones, waters, trees (?). There are, I mean. Those mountains, stones, waters and lives submitted to Him. (?) how beautifully we say it.
His creating all these living and lifeless things to make them remember Him, creating beings with His knowledge and making them revolve around one another in a set order, that is, the atoms of matter, the nuclei inside the atoms, the positively and negatively charged nuclei — by turning them around their own axis, a sound arises which, as we said, remembers its Lord. By making it remember its Lord, by Allah Almighty making it remember Him, it signifies that He is its Creator, that He is its Owner. It signifies that there is no god but Allah. Yes, so if all these creations remember our Lord, then indeed He has taken them under His rule, and they have submitted to Him.
That is, whatever our Lord willed for those mountains, stones, waters, beings, they keep moving in accordance with His will. Yes. His creating all these living and lifeless things to make them remember Him, creating beings with His knowledge and, in a set order, making them revolve around one another, Allah Almighty's — in accordance with His will — making them remember Him, creating them so they cannot leave His rule, proves that Allah Almighty needs nothing. So no one can say Allah has taken a child, or Allah needs this or that. Allah is free of all deficient attributes. That is why, to those who say Allah has taken a child: far from it, Allah is far above that, He says.
And in this way we prove that Allah Almighty needs nothing, we have proven it.
