“Oh my Dear Lord, because, they (the idols) have made many people go astray. Now, whoever follows me belongs to me. And whoever goes against me, You are truly Ghafoor (Most Forgiving) and Raheem (the One Who very generously accepts repentance).”
Tafsir
Because these idolaters have caused people to go astray. With their idols, which they invented as religion, they directed people towards their own worshippers and led many of them away from the path of Allah.
O my Lord! We sanctify You from all deficient attributes. We believe that there is no God but You. Whoever follows me in this case is subject to you, O Allah, and is one of those who believe in you in your way.
And whoever opposes me, O Allah! That person has also disobeyed You. Since they are also Your creatures, they say, You are the only one who forgives and merciful. Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was a very mild-tempered, sighing, patient and merciful person. He did not know that Allah (swt) would not forgive the disbelievers, so he prayed for them. Then when he was warned about the disbelievers, he never again prayed for the disbelievers except for their rehabilitation.
What is said in the video
Surah Ibrahim, verse 36: For they, he says — who are they? The idol worshippers. They caused many people to go astray.
Abraham is saying this in prayer to Allah Almighty. My Lord, now whoever follows me, he is of me. And whoever opposes me — surely You are Most Forgiving, Most Merciful, he says. Pay attention to the verse. To the Prophet's words.
Allah Almighty informs us of those words of the Prophet. He calls His own word a verse. What does he say? Pay close attention to his last words. And whoever opposes me — surely You are Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. O my Lord! Whoever opposes me, does not recognize Your religion, turns his back on You, (?) You — he does not say: destroy him. All people are Your servants. You do as You will, he says. You make the best decision among Your servants. That belongs to You alone; I do not interfere, he says. How beautifully he (?). Look, there is no curse. Yes. I wonder whether the subtlety here is understood?
It separates more nicely. Yes, we return to our lesson again. Abraham says: for they, the idol worshippers, caused many people to go astray. Now whoever follows me, he is of me. And whoever opposes me — surely You are Forgiving, Most Merciful.
I want to explain this part to you as well.
For they, the idol worshippers, he says, caused many people to go astray, he says.
No one can lead anyone astray. Since, at the address 'Elestü bi-Rabbiküm', people will live their own destinies in proportion to the covenants they gave, and in the verse too — 'Did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are?' — according to that verse? This expanded part, the part expanded here — because there is no Turkish equivalent for the word, it is expanded this way. He said it corresponds to the Turkish word. You cannot find Turkish that matches the Arabic word. That is, those people, to these — those idol worshippers inclined toward these people and tried to turn them to their own beliefs.
Within those beliefs, people who had given a covenant to Allah also, like them, followed after them. This is its meaning, but we cannot expand it like this. Yes.
Because these idol worshippers caused people to stray from the path. They could have. In the period of ignorance. Look. I judge by myself. I am telling this about myself. I was a child. At 4 or 5 years old I used to say: Azrael, who is he to take my life? The child is right, of course. Azrael really takes life, but people (?) him. Again, I was a child, I had not yet come of age — I know. When I did something wrong, it stung inside me. This conscience stung. I knew it was wrong. And I tried not to do it again. In this case, in this case, if people set out to turn such people of faith from the path, to him that faith becomes a veil. He does not go that person's way.
He understands that it is wrong. Today, our Muslim brothers living here in Turkey, although they have completed Islam — that faith of theirs which protects them from evil, yes, by means of their faith they know that evil is evil. But because of little education, because of deliberately explaining the religion of Islam wrongly, that is, explaining the Quran's verses wrongly, and misdirecting people, although people do wrong knowingly, they look for someone to put the blame on. Since those hypocrites who emerged to degenerate the religion of Islam take the lead, they supposedly put the blame on them.
And they themselves follow after them.
In this case, a person has drifted away from the truth. The further he drifts, the desires of the nafs show him life as very beautiful. In this case, the world looks rosy to the person, and the person, to the nafs's desire submitting, with an insatiable greed and passion, without regard to halal or haram, without regard to people's rights and law, begins to amass.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) says in his hadith: My ummah will be divided into three parts.
The first, even if from the evening there is no food for the morning, will say 'el rızkı teâlâ Allah', he says. He will trust in Allah. The second, he says, will gather from what is halal. For him there is a fine reckoning, he says. And one will gather without regard to halal and haram, he says. For him there is a painful punishment, he says. Yes. In this case, a person, to truly learn his religion, never makes any effort.
He sits in front of the television and watches for hours, for days. He inclines toward everything that will flatter his nafs. The word of his Lord, who created him and is the Owner of the worlds — opening it and asking 'what does it say to me, what does my Owner, my Lord say?' — he never opens it and looks. Yes. In this case, a person truly drifts further and further from his religion. Now this part, so that this part can be expanded correctly, (?) let us write too. What does it say? They caused many people to go astray. It is as if those people, of the people who would go astray, had come to change their destinies.
Yes. But we cannot expand it. We pass over this place like that, we skip it. Maybe (?) as a team, if someone gave an idea, within that idea these parts could be written in a better way. In parentheses, you will (?). What does it say next? My Lord, now whoever follows me, he is of me. That is, this part supports it anyway, right after. Whoever follows me, he is of me. That is, now my Lord has sent me to you as a prophet, he says. I am conveying to you the commands of my Lord. In this case, who? If your covenants to our Lord are (?), he and eshabül meymenetim eshabül meymenet. If he is from the part where it says 'O (?), glad tidings be yours', then he, he says, who follows me is of me. That is, saying 'is of me' means he has submitted to my Lord's command, he is my Lord's servant. That is, he is the person who carries out His command.
As for servants, all are His servants anyway. Well, and whoever opposes me — surely You are Most Forgiving and Most Merciful, he says. That is, as their Creator, You are the Owner of these people. You make the best decision about them, he says. They are Your servants. I am in no position to say anything to them, he says. I am in no position to say 'do it like this', he says. Because You are the one who judges them in the best way, he says. Yes. Because these idol worshippers caused people to stray from the path. With the idols they invented as religion, directing people to what they worship, they drew many of them away from the path of Allah.
O my Lord, we declare You free of all deficient attributes. We believe and have faith that there is no god besides You. In this case, whoever follows me, O Allah, has followed You and is among those who believe in You on Your path. Yes. This is the meaning of the verse too. And whoever opposes me, that person has also opposed You; since they too are servants You created, only You are the Forgiving and Merciful, they say. Abraham (peace be upon him) was a very gentle, much-sighing, patient and compassionate man; he sighed a lot. Why? He sighed a lot. I am living this. Not just 'ah', 'oof'. I am living it.
Toward our Lord who created these worlds — who gave so many blessings — those who, amid so many blessings, live in pleasure and lie back idly, who attach themselves to the world and (?) turn their backs on Allah, and those who associate partners with Allah — because our heart burns for them, we sigh. Is such a Creator of ours to be treated this way? Is He to be denied like this? Are partners to be associated with Him? Yes. Now I am asking that idol worshipper. If someone came to that idol worshipper and provided some three-penny, five-penny benefit, he would immediately turn fifty or a hundred somersaults before him and offer his thanks.
But although Allah, the Lord of the worlds, has offered him so many blessings, he does not thank Him even once. He turns his back and on top of that denies Him. Yes.
Later, when he was warned about the disbelievers, never again did he pray for the disbelievers other than (?). Abraham (peace be upon him).
