Translation

“All praise is due to Allah who has blessed me with Ismael and Isaac in my old age. Verily, my Lord is the One Who hears (all) supplications.”

Tafsir

According to the narrations, Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm''s wife, our mother Saree, did not have a child, so she gave our mother Hagar, the concubine of our mother Saree, to her husband Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm'. According to the narrations, Hazrat Ismail was born to our mother Hagar. It is said that Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' was ninety-nine years old when Hazrat Ismail was born. Thirteen years later, Ishaq was born to our mother Sarah. Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' was one hundred and twelve years old at this time.

In this old age, Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' praises Allah (swt) for giving Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' two sons, and declares the greatness of Allah (swt) towards Allah (swt), saying, 'Surely my Lord is the One who hears prayer. The joy of Hazrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' was twofold. The first is that Allah has given him children and he has raised them to serve Allah, and the second is that he is happy that Allah has granted his Lord's pleasure that the people who will continue his lineage and serve Allah after him will come from his descendants. Or it is not that he longs for a son.

What is said in the video

We have come to Surah Ibrahim, verse 39, haven't we? Yes. Praise be to Allah, who in my old age granted me Ishmael and Isaac. Surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayer, he says. Yes.

Allah is not only one who hears prayer, but the One who knows the state of all His creatures and (?) them.

He is giving his thanks to Allah Almighty, Abraham (peace be upon him). Two angels come. They greet Abraham. Abraham thinks they are humans and immediately brings a roasted calf before them. He sees that they do not eat.

This time fear seizes Abraham.

Do not be afraid, they say. We are angels.

We have come with the glad tidings of a child, an offspring, he says. My wife is barren. And I am old. How can I have a child, he says. At that moment his wife, too, outside, is clapping her hands. How can this be, she says. How can it be, she says. The angels say: this matter is done and settled. It is Allah's will, they say. Thereupon they give him the glad tidings of Ishmael (peace be upon him) and Isaac. Meanwhile, what other business do you have, he asks. We are going to destroy the people of Lot, they say.

And Lot is Abraham's cousin.

He is very worried. For Lot. They say he will be protected. And in this situation, in his old age, because the angels gave him this good news and Ishmael and Isaac were granted to him, his debt of gratitude to Allah Almighty he pays. What does he say? To Allah, who in my old age granted me Ishmael and Isaac, be praise. Surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayer.

According to narrations, Abraham's wife, our mother Sarah, could not have children. Our mother Hagar, the servant of our mother Sarah, she gives to her husband Abraham (peace be upon him). According to narrations, from our mother Hagar Ishmael is born. When Ishmael came into the world, Abraham (peace be upon him) is said to have been 99 years old. 13 years after this, Isaac is born of our mother Sarah. From our mother Hagar Ishmael, from our mother Sarah Isaac are born. At this time Abraham (peace be upon him) is 112 years old. So Abraham (peace be upon him), in this old age, because Allah Almighty gave him, Abraham (peace be upon him), two children, praising and extolling Allah Almighty and saying 'surely my Lord is the Hearer of prayer', before Allah Almighty declares the greatness of Allah Almighty.

The joy of Abraham (peace be upon him) is twofold. First, the children Allah gave him: so that they serve Allah, raising them. Second, Allah's — that the people who will continue the line of Abraham (peace be upon him) after him and serve Allah come from his own (?) — his rejoicing at attaining his Lord's good pleasure. It is not because he longed for a child, longed for a child. Yes.
