Translation
You lived in the places of those who were committing oppression against themselves (before you). It became apparent to you how We have treated them. And We have given examples to you.
Tafsir
The people before you who wronged themselves, those who did not believe in Allah and the Last Day, and those who denied the Messengers of Allah, were destroyed in the earth. We made you inheritors of their dwellings. You have come and dwelt in the dwellings of those who perished by wronging their own souls.
(It has become clear to you how We dealt with them) the causes of their destruction have been made clear to you, and you have seen clearly the fate of those who disbelieve in Allah by seeing their traces in the towns where they perished.
Allah has also proved His existence by bringing examples in a way that every human being can understand. In one of His verses, "Allah does not forsake bringing examples with the mosquito and greater", we have discussed this verse at length in the past. In summary, Allah proves His existence by bringing examples to every human being, from the most ignorant and unintelligent to the most knowledgeable and intelligent. Then he leaves the responsibility to the will of the people themselves.
What is said in the video
In the homes of those before you who wronged themselves you dwelt. How beautifully He says it; now Allah Almighty gives an example, gives an example. While in the world, He says, did you not see those before you who wronged their own selves? The people of Lot, Noah's Flood, the people of Thamud, well, the people of Lot, the people of Salih. Did you not see them? Did you not see Pharaoh? Today your body, He says, lifeless, your body I will leave as an example to the worlds, He says.
We brought the Children of Israel across the sea. But Pharaoh and his soldiers, about to attack them in oppression, pursued them. At last, when he was about to drown in the sea, Pharaoh said: truly I too believe that there is no god but the God the Children of Israel believe in, I believed, I have faith, (?), he said. Now you believe? That is, the door of repentance has closed. You are one of the deniers. Yet before you had rebelled and were one of the corrupters. O Pharaoh! So that you may be a lesson to those after you, today your body We will save, lifeless. Indeed, many people are truly heedless of Our signs, He says.
So, O people! Those in whose homes you dwell today, or that we traveled and saw, those destroyed peoples: how, wronging their own selves, they were destroyed, did you not see? Overstepping the limits Allah has set, because of their sedition and the troubles of corruption on earth, did you not see how We destroyed them? Did you not see? You dwelt in the homes of those before you who wronged themselves. How We dealt with them with calamity has become perfectly clear to you. And We also gave you examples, He says.
Yes. You dwelt in the homes of those before you who wronged themselves. How We dealt with them has become perfectly clear to you. How did He deal with them? He destroyed them. Yes. And We also gave you examples, He says. The people before you who wronged themselves, who did not believe in Allah and the Last Day, who called Allah's prophets liars, were destroyed on earth. We made you heirs to the homes they dwelt in, He says. You came and settled in the homes of those destroyed for wronging their own selves. So, O man, on that land you sit upon, will you not reflect on what happened here? Mehmet Akif too says it so beautifully.
Do not pass by the places you tread calling them mere soil, know them, he says. Think of the thousands lying beneath without shrouds; if those lying without shrouds are martyrs, and if this piece of land kneaded with the blood of those martyrs is my homeland, I remember those martyrs. Well, and you too, if the state of the people destroyed there, as an example, as a lesson for yourself, well, you cannot imagine, surely you will follow the path of those who wronged their own selves. Yes.
The people before you who wronged themselves, who did not believe in Allah and the Last Day, those who called Allah's prophet a liar, their destruction on earth. We made you heirs to the homes of the homes they dwelt in. We brought you to settle in the homes of those destroyed for wronging their own selves, He says. Yes, We settled you there. How they dealt, how We dealt with them has become perfectly clear to you. That is, they were destroyed here because they rebelled against Allah. The people of Lot, well, were a homosexual people. Here Allah destroyed them. Well, Noah, at the Flood, lived 960 (?) among his people.
These people did not believe in Noah. Among Salih's people a camel came out of a rock. That camel, they slaughtered the camel. They killed the animal by cutting its legs. There they were destroyed. Pharaoh, despite seeing seven miracles, still denied. Well, he believed, believed, then denied. Him too He left as a mercy, as a lesson to the worlds. In that case, are the worlds without an owner? In that case, if we act outside Allah's command, will we not be called to account?
Imagine yourself a child. Imagine yourself a young man. That is, around 18 to 20 years old. You have a mother and father, I have parents, you are still under their responsibility; when you go out roaming around and commit some misdeed, wouldn't you think: if they complain about me to my father, what answer will I give my father? And so as not to leave your parents anything bad or leave, would you not want to live in a way worthy of those parents, wouldn't you? Well then, are we too without an owner in this world? So that no harm comes to your parents, to protect their honor, or to protect their nobility, how nicely, in worldly life, by Allah Almighty's command you abide; well, tomorrow at the court (?) in the presence of Allah Almighty, if you act against Allah's glory, if, treating His rule over you as nothing, well, you act as if left to yourself, will you not tomorrow in His presence be called to account?
Do you never make such a comparison? Are you without an owner?
Apart from your responsibility toward your mother and father, a much greater responsibility is upon you. What responsibility? For example, when you leave your home, your parents don't know what you are doing. But Allah knows second by second what you are doing, and the angels called Kiraman Katibin write it down. Just as the images, the forms that (?) reflects, (?) are cast onto a paper and the photograph comes out, Allah Almighty too freezes these rays that you have reflected. He freezes them and tomorrow at the Resurrection shows you second by second what you did. So will you not be ashamed before the Owner of the worlds for the mistakes you make?
In His presence.
If you go on with your life thinking of these things, reflecting, you live as a servant to Allah and as one of the community of His Beloved.
How We dealt with them has become perfectly clear to you. Since the reasons for their destruction were told to you, and in the lands where they were destroyed, coming across their traces, their end, called denial of Allah, you have seen plainly, He says. Do we not see? We have seen.
Moreover, We also gave you examples. Allah, by giving examples in a way every person can understand, has proven the existence of His Being. We never cease, He says, to give examples of the mosquito and what is greater, says Allah Almighty in His verse. What does this example mean? That is, giving examples with the mosquito and what is greater. That is, to the most ignorant of people, who use four percent of their minds, and to the most learned of people, who use twelve percent of their minds, We never give up giving them examples, He says. Allah Almighty has written out His Noble Quran so that everyone can understand.
But some matters arise where one needs to consult one's scholars. Then, when you are at an impasse, He says, turn to Allah and His Messenger, He says. And where will we turn to Allah? Where will we see the Messenger? In Allah's verses, in the Messenger's hadiths. Then in the heirs of the Messenger. The passing of your scholars to the hereafter is like the sun leaving and darkness coming, he says. Yes.
In one verse: Allah does not cease to give examples of the mosquito and what is greater. We talked at length about this verse in past topics. In essence, Allah, to every person, the most ignorant and the most ignorant and feeble-minded, and the most learned who use their minds, gives examples and proves, gives proof of His existence to them. Then He leaves the responsibility to people's own free will. Yes.
