Alif. Laam. Raa. These are the Verses of the Book and a plain Qur’an.
Tafsir
Elif, Lam, Ra, these are muqadda verses. No meaning is given to them. Because the word of Allah is on the letters. The meaning of the letters is unknown to Allah (swt). When it is said that these are the clear Verses of the Qur'an, it means that the letters come together and speak to people in a language that people can understand, so that people can understand the word of Allah. The spoken word of Allah, its true meaning and the secrets of creation in letters are hidden in Allah's knowledge.
If human beings had the knowledge of Allah's speech on the letters, which are the words of Allah, Allah would have created human beings equal to Himself. These people would have been privy to the secret of creation hidden in these letters and would have attained immortality. They would also have the power to create out of nothing and declare their deity. By hiding the meanings in the letters, Allah (swt) emphasizes that this knowledge is unique to Him. Therefore, people cannot attempt to give meaning to these verses. However, those who want to give meanings to them (those who have a crookedness in their hearts) go after the mutabbih verses in it in order to create sedition and to interpret it. However, only Allah knows its interpretation).
It is a Book that has been clearly sent to mankind from Allah, speaking to mankind with these letters, with a science of speech that mankind can understand, speaking to mankind with all the letters, with all creation, wet and dry, within the Qur'an.
What is said in the video
Surah Ibrahim is finished. We have come to Surah Al-Hijr. Surah Al-Hijr has 99 verses; 87 of them were revealed in Medina, the other verses in Mecca. Hijr is the name of a place.
Because Hijr, the place called Hijr, is mentioned in verses 80 and 84, the surah was given this name. Yes.
The first verse: Elif, Lâm, Râ. Mukatta verses. No one can give these a meaning. People who try to give them a meaning, as our Lord states in verse seven of Surah Al-Imran, are people with crookedness in their hearts, it says.
These are mukatta verses. They are not given a meaning. Because Allah's speech is upon letters. And the meaning of the letters is known to Allah. It is not known. When it is said, "These are verses of the clear Quran", it is that, so that people can understand Allah's speech, through letters coming together He speaks in a language people will understand. It is Allah Almighty, with His speech, His verses, in a way people will understand, speaking. The true meaning of Allah's speaking word and the secrets of creation within the letters are hidden in Allah's knowledge.
Yes.
If people, over the letters that are Allah's speech, had attained Allah's knowledge of speaking, over the letters, Allah would have created people equal to His Essence. Having attained Allah's speaking word, since within these words there are also the secrets of creation, you too would be a creator. So the true meanings of the mukatta verses and of the letters are known to Allah. When these letters come together, Allah Almighty speaks to us in a language we will understand. This verse is a formula. The Quran is a formula.
It is not possible for us to solve those formulas. Indeed, if we were to solve the formulas, we would have become beings equal to our Lord, we would be creators. Just as in chemistry two hydrogens and one oxygen make water, and through some elements combining substances have formed, gold, silver, all these substances; they say there are 143 elements, I think. Is that so? 143 of them? There are pharmacists here too. They know it very well. Look and see how many elements there are. I know of 143. In our time, when we were children, there were 51, 81. There were 83. Then they found more. They kept finding them. They raised it to 143.
That's how it is. Either 141 or 143, as I recall. So, this universe came into being through the combination of all these elements. There were even more, but these are the ones we found. In that case, the verses of the Quran are also such a formula. The meanings of that formula's compounds are known to Allah. Yes.
If people, over the letters that are Allah's speech, had attained Allah's knowledge of speaking,
Allah would have created people equal to His Essence. These people would attain the secret of creation hidden in these letters and would seize immortality. They would become a god.
Possessing the power to create from nothing, they would declare their divinity. By hiding the meanings in the letters, Allah Almighty emphasises that this knowledge belongs to His Essence alone.
Therefore people cannot attempt to give meaning to these mukatta verses. But those who want to give them meaning, those with crookedness in their hearts, in order to cause strife and to interpret it, follow the ambiguous verses in it. Yet only Allah knows its interpretation.
With these letters, by a science of speech people will understand, for example Elif, Lâm, Râ, by a science of speech that people can understand with letters, by setting the letters side by side, to people with all the letters speaking, with the wet and dry created things within the Quran, it is a book from Allah's presence sent clearly to people. Everything is in it. Wet and dry.
I never forget, two captains call me. "Come, Metin, we'll ask you a question." "Go ahead, ask." "A doctoral book is 1500 pages, 2500 pages, whatever; a chemistry book 3000 pages, 1000 pages, 1500 pages; a biology book this much, a judge's book or the laws this much. So now, if the wet too is in the Quran, all of these, in these six hundred pages?" they said.
Since we knew their aim, we didn't cut them off all at once. In case they might come to guidance. We said: Allah's speech is upon letters. Just as we said here, Elif, Lâm, Râ, Yâsîn, Tâhâ, we cannot know what meaning they have. They are just like formulas. In that case Allah Almighty has, in a way we can understand, these formulas, their letters, brought together. He tells us. He shows us the way.
They began to laugh.
"Our minds can't grasp such a thing," they said. "We need to know too." "For you to know, you would have to be a creator then." "He has limited our minds anyway." I saw that they had begun to mock. "Ah, I already knew what your problem was," he said. "What is it?" he said. "If a person doesn't believe in the Quran and hadith, don't answer him at all, don't talk, end the matter," I said. "Well, goodbye." I went out and left.
Yes. Yes. So, Allah Almighty: whatever there is, wet and dry, is in the Quran. Upon letters; since His speech is upon letters, the secrets are hidden in the letters. In the letters; in this case the knowledge of it is with Allah.
