(Iblees) Satan said; “I will not prostrate to a human whom You have created from dry clay, from the dark, shaped mud.”
Tafsir
Satan's arrogance and pride caused him to disobey Allah's command. With the greatness he saw in himself, he said to Allah (swt), playing a game of logic, "I will not prostrate to a clay that you have shaped. Because I was created with a superior creation than him, out of pure fire, so by saying that I would not prostrate to mud, the angel's arrogance and pride prevented him from showing the truth. When Allah formed our father Adam from clay, He did not tell him to prostrate. He told our father Adam to prostrate to this after He gave him his soul. Iblis was mistaken here, if only he had known that prostration to Adam was prostration to Allah.
What is said in the video
Now (?) it. Yes.
Iblis answers. Surah Al-Hijr, verse 33. "I will not prostrate to a human whom You shaped from dry clay, whom You created from black mud," he said. He sees himself so high that Iblis almost goes as far as claiming godhood in Allah's place.
If Iblis had had reason — Iblis, the father of the ignorant too — had he had reason, Allah Almighty's command he would not have opposed; even if it is but an atom, if He says prostrate to it, there is wisdom in it, he would have said, and prostrated.
Again, had Iblis had reason, he would have thought a little, thought and, since after giving a dry clay of His spirit He said prostrate to it, he would have thought that in that dry clay there is a part of Allah, and he would have prostrated not to that dry clay but to that spirit. That is, not to the earth; prostrating to Adam was prostrating to Allah. Here he is playing a game of logic. He said: I will not prostrate to a human You created from dry clay. Satan's arrogance and pride caused him to oppose Allah's command. With the greatness he saw in himself, playing a so-called game of logic with Allah Almighty, he said: I do not prostrate to a mud that I shaped (?).
Allah Almighty, who created us honoured above the worlds, tells us: I created you honoured above the worlds. Had He said to you in His verse: I gave of My spirit, but not said: I created you honoured above the worlds. Had He not said it.
And had He told us: prostrate to so-and-so.
Prostrate without the slightest hesitation.
Even though He gave of His spirit, it would mean there is a being He loves more than His spirit, to whom He has them prostrate. But by saying I made you honoured above the worlds, He tells us that He has made humans themselves His addressees and has created no being more honoured than humans. In this case, in this case, although it is so, I have a dream; in my dream (?), what do I say: I enter the grave, they put me in the grave, two noble angels come, one from the right, one from the left: come on, let's go, they say. As Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, I'll knock their heads together; I have (?) anger in me.
I'll knock their heads together. Where are you taking me, I say. We are going to our Lord, they say. Meanwhile I think. I say: even if it were a mosquito our Lord sent, we could not (?), I say. When they said we're going to our Lord, we set out in obedience, but at that moment I woke up. So had we gone, the decree of the Truth would have come to pass. We woke up. That is, here: obedience to the command. Obedience to the command.
Yes.
For I was created with a creation superior to his, from pure fire. Thus, in saying I will not prostrate to mud, the accursed one's arrogance and pride kept him from being shown the truths. The accursed one's arrogance and pride keep him from being shown those truths. What are the truths? That earlier, not Hazrat Adam's but Hazrat Muhammad's (peace be upon him) spirit was created, that from his light the worlds were created, and that from the Prophet's spirit the prophets' spirits were created, and from the prophets' spirits their peoples' spirits were created — had he been able to know this. had he known, (?), (?), upon you, or upon us, here falls a duty.
A duty. Allah is the Possessor of wisdom. What He created and why, why, for what reason He created it, what its duty is — we know as much as He has made known. What He has not made known, (?), is in Allah's hand; He knows it. So whatever He says in His verse, we are obliged to submit to it. Yes.
So the accursed one's arrogance and pride kept him from being shown the truths. When Allah shaped our father Adam from mud, He did not say: prostrate to him. After He gave our father Adam of His spirit, He said: prostrate to him. This is where Iblis erred. Had he been able to know that by prostrating to Adam one prostrated to Allah. What do we understand from this? Again, if He has the angels and Iblis prostrate to Adam, the verse that humans were created honoured above the worlds teaches this. Some people who do not know themselves act as hodjas, but with words picked up by hearsay they say angels are superior to humans.
And this is how many people, many hodjas know it. In Germany, when we said: although the angels had prostrated to man, how can humans be superior — well, a hodja came from Istanbul and says humans are superior to angels. By saying this he lays bare his own shame, lays bare his ignorance. A person may hold right something he does not know, and hold wrong something he knows. He may also know it rightly. If what a person holds right, holds right, someone warns him is wrong, he should not at once oppose him. He should lay the evidence before him. Allah Almighty says in His verse: He says: when you reach a dead end, turn to Allah and His Messenger.
So if I have accepted as right something I know wrongly, and someone tells me what is right, and I reach a dead end there, even if I don't accept it at once, I will then turn to Allah and His Messenger. How will I turn to them? Turning to Allah is turning to the verses; turning to the Messenger is turning to the hadiths.
In this case, when you turn to Allah and His Messenger, you find the truth. So in the verse too: if Allah Almighty told Iblis and the angels to prostrate to Adam, then, apart from man, whom He created honoured above the worlds, He has created no other being as honoured. Yes. Yes.
