Translation

(Abraham) said; “Are you giving me glad tidings while old age came upon me?”

Tafsir

When Abraham was convinced that they were angels and his heart was at peace, he addressed the angels and said: "Are you giving me good news of a son when I am old? I am an old man and my wife is too old to have children. His wife was also very old at that time. Women can have children until a certain time, that is, until they stop menstruating, and then they reach a certain age, usually between forty-five, forty-eight and fifty-five. In this case, menstruation stops and the uterus is atrophied, so the ability to have children is lost.

He answers them. Do you give me good tidings even though old age has come upon me? he said. Verse 54 of Surah Al-Hijr. Yes. Every person expects an answer in the face of any event. Abraham, too, is trying to wait for an answer. When Abraham (peace be upon him) became convinced that they were angels and his heart found peace, he said to the angels: Now that old age has come upon me, do you give me good tidings of a child? I am an old man. And my wife is very far from bearing children, he said. At that time his wife was also very old. Women have, up to a certain time, that is, until menstruation stops, the ability to bear children. After that, when they reach a certain age, mostly this age is between 45–48 and 55.

In this state menstruation stops, and the ability of the womb (?) to bear children disappears.
