Translation

(Abraham) said; “Who would lose hope from my Lord other than those who went astray?”

Tafsir

Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said in reply to the angels that only those who disbelieve in Allah despair of Allah's mercy. Hadrat Ibrahim 'alaihis-salâm' was a Prophet who surrendered his heart to Allah, he was very mild-tempered and used to sigh a lot. His sighing was because he wanted people to know and obey their Lord. But he used to lament that people had fallen into error and delusion and that he could not pass his word on to them, that they were in heedlessness and that they had turned their backs on Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of the worlds with His mercy.

What is said in the video

He believes completely. Yes.

We have come to verse fifty-six of Surah Al-Hijr. We do not see much need to explain these parts. Because the verses are clear, (?). These are evident. The verses. Abraham said: Of my Lord's mercy, other than those astray. What a fine answer he gives now to the angels: Who despairs of Allah's mercy other than those astray? Indeed Allah Almighty says that only the disbelievers despair of Allah's mercy. Yes. Abraham (peace be upon him) says to the angels in reply: Of Allah's mercy, only those who deny Allah, the ones astray, despair. Abraham (peace be upon him) is a prophet who surrendered to Allah with his heart.

It says he was very gentle, and he would sigh a great deal. His sighing came from wanting people to desire to know their Lord and obey Him. But because people fell into straying and error and he could not get his word through to these astray ones, because these people were in heedlessness, and (?) the worlds, and who created us, because they turned their backs on Allah, who created and protects the worlds with His mercy, he would sigh a great deal. He would sigh over the condition of people. That is: O human! What harm would it be if you, to your Lord who created you, returned? Ah, if only you gave thanks for these (?) blessings; ah, if only you knew that He created you as a human and gave you of His spirit and made you honoured above the worlds, he would say, and with a burning heart he would sigh like this inwardly over people.
