They said; “Did we not forbid you to interfere with us on any matter?”

Tafsir

The people of Hadrat Lot 'alaihis-salâm' addressed Lot 'alaihis-salâm' and said: "Did we not tell you that you will not interfere in our affairs? Did we not tell you that we do not believe in you and that we will have nothing to do with you? This means that Hadrat Lot was left alone among his people and his people abandoned him, leaving only those whom they did not kill. In this respect, Hadrat Lot, who was alone among his people, could not find anyone from his people who would follow him, and even his wife was one of those who did not believe in him. They had become a guilty nation, exceeding the limits in their rebellion.

And so he is burning up inside because of it. Yes. In verse 70, his people answer Lot (peace be upon him). Had we not forbidden you to meddle in other people's affairs? they said. Yes.

The people of Lot (peace be upon him), addressing Lot (peace be upon him): Did we not tell you that you are not to interfere among us? Did we not explain to you that we do not believe you and will have nothing to do with you? So this much is understood: Lot was left alone among his people, and his people, in abandoning Lot (peace be upon him), stopped short only of killing him. For this reason, left alone among his people, Lot found no one among his people who would follow him, and of his family even his wife was among those who did not believe him. In rebelliousness they had even become a (?) nation.

Yes.
