Verily, the people of wood (Madyan people) were also oppressors.
Tafsir
Ayka means dense forest. The town where Prophet Shu'ayp and his people lived was forested, hence they were called the people of Ayka. They too were a cruel people, worshipping idols and denying Allah and the Hereafter. Nor did they believe in their prophets.
Shu'ayp 'alaihis-salâm' was sent as a Prophet to the people of Ayka. Since this people were people of disbelief, they did not believe in their Prophet. This town is located in Saudi Arabia, between Palestine and Hejaz.
What is said in the video
"And the people of Al-Aykah were truly wrongdoers," it says. Allah Almighty, what — they go and translate it now, what does it say: the people of Al-Aykah were truly wrongdoers. When He destroys them and afterwards, because He is Allah, says "they were wrongdoers", He does not mean the upright among them as wrongdoers too. Rather, when at the covenant of Alastu bi-Rabbikum they made their covenant with Allah Almighty, according to that covenant everyone, according to their own (?) situation, how they would live their life, what kind of person they are, since they would prove it in the best way, by their own wish chose their own time themselves, and so these came together then.
So among them, all of them were wrongdoers rebelling against Allah. Had there been anyone among them who knew the truth in their affairs, they would have followed the prophet and attained salvation along with the prophet. The people of Al-Aykah were truly wrongdoers. Aykah means dense forest. Because the region where the prophet Shuayb and his people lived was forested, this people was called the people of Al-Aykah. They too were truly a wrongdoing people. They too worshipped idols. They denied Allah and the Hereafter. They did not believe in the prophets, nor in their own prophet.
To the (?), to the people of Al-Aykah, Shuayb (peace be upon him) was sent as a prophet. To the people of Al-Aykah. Because this people were people of kufr, they did not believe in their prophet. This land is between Palestine and the Hijaz, in the territory of Saudi Arabia. Yes.
