Do not ever look at the worldly possessions that We gave to some groups among them. Do not be saddened for what they have. Be gentle and humble towards the mu’min.
Tafsir
O Messenger of Allah! Do not bemoan the wealth and property that the disbelievers have for your ummah, wishing they were in my ummah. And do not grieve for what they have. For this world is temporary and the Hereafter is eternal. The wealth of the disbelievers will only increase their disbelief. Nor will it benefit them in the Hereafter. Do not let not their worldly splendor of wealth and possessions envy you. And to Allah is their return.
And be humble to the believers. For they are pious people whose hearts are open to Allah and who have submitted to their Lord. Keep these nice too.
What is said in the video
...you are saying that.
Surah Al-Hijr, verse 88, the verse.
Never cast your eyes on the worldly goods We gave to some classes of them, for the sake of your ummah. For your ummah. They had probably explained this part wrongly too; we corrected it. Yes. Do not grieve over what they have, and be humble toward the believers.
Allah Almighty knew the Prophet's (peace be upon him) qualities and character very well; he for himself, on his own behalf, over worldly goods would not grieve. Had he set his eyes on the world for his own person and his own wealth, then our mother Khadijah al-Kubra's wealth, her rich, richest wealth and property, he would not have distributed to those in need. So, since the Prophet (peace be upon him) was by Allah Almighty Himself raised and trained, he is a person who has reached faqr. Faqr. Faqr, not poverty. The meaning of faqr is different. I will explain. There is also a couplet about it.
What does it say? Al-faqru fakhri, al-faqru fakhri, (?) Fakhri. Remember your faqr, remember your faqr. "This heart of mine found it in faqr-i fana," it says. Now, in Arabic a faqir is a miskin. The meaning of faqr, however: the earths and the sky, what is between the two, even (?), since the owner of all of them is Allah, he hands this over to Allah; what remains is Allah and himself. That is what it says: such a look that, when he draws the sword of "la" on this existence, when he draws the sword of nonexistence, one of the scholars puts it this way: after saying "la", he says, look, is anything left?
Rejoice, O lover, he says; no partner is left to the Truth, it is over. So if the Truth and all created things are Allah's property, if the one who created his self and his body is He, if He separated it from His Self as a body, and if he gave his self to Him too, then this, within these worlds, is the station of fana billah.
It is vanishing in Allah Almighty. Such a prophet, the Prophet, would never turn his eye to worldly goods. Yes.
O My Beloved! The goods and property the disbelievers have, for your ummah: "if only my ummah had these" (?).
Do not grieve over what they have either. I was saying a lot. Because the world is transient, while the hereafter is everlasting. The wealth the disbelievers have is good for nothing but increasing their kufr, for nothing else.
Nor will it benefit them in the hereafter.
Why will it not? They, He says, not one world, He says, but another world's fill in it, He says, if they gave the world to Us as ransom, never from them would anything be accepted, He says. Yes. Do not let their parading in this world in pomp with this wealth and property make you envious. In the end, their return too is to Allah. Amid this wealth and property, in pleasure and delight, in this world they will live paradise. Then in the hereafter, those pleasures, their pleasures in this world, will remain for them as heartache in hell. Yes. And be humble toward the believers. Because their hearts are open to Allah, and they are God-fearing people who have surrendered to their Lord. Treat them kindly too, He says.
