Allah is the One Who has given the sea to your service so that you would eat fresh (fish) meat and take out an ornament as garment. And you see that ships sail on the sea by ploughing it. (These are all) so that you would seek Allah’s blessings and be grateful (for Allah’s provisions).
Tafsir
Allah (swt) continues to address the mind. It is Allah who has placed the seas at the disposal of people so that they can benefit from the meat of the fish that live in the seas and the pearls in the mussels in the seas.
We see that a creature living with air on land suffocates due to lack of oxygen under water, and that a creature created in water cannot live in the air and suffocates due to the abundance of oxygen.
In addition, by creating creatures living both on land and in the seas, Allah (swt) shows His knowledge to human beings.
Giving the seas to the command of people; Many ornaments in the seas are extracted and offered to the service of people, providing their livelihood and trade are again the blessings of Allah on human beings.
It is not a coincidence that ships sail through the sea without sinking, that they were created with a science. The fact that substances that are lighter than the specific gravity of water remain afloat also shows that they were created with knowledge.
The fact that substances heavier than the specific gravity of water have buoyancy equal to the volume of water they carry enables today's heavy ships to float on water. By proving to every rational person that no creation is a coincidence, Allah commands us to be grateful for His blessings.
What is said in the video
We have come to verse 14 of Surah An-Nahl. "So that you eat fresh fish from it and an ornament you will wear, pearls" — pearls come out of the inside of mussels. In the seas they take big mussels, and out of them, according to their size, pearls come out. What does it say? "So that you eat fresh fish from it and bring out an ornament you will wear, it is He who has placed the sea at your command. You also see the ships going through the sea, cleaving the waters. All this is so that you seek His grace and give thanks for His blessing." Today we know the water of the sea; water is normally, let's say, one grad, one atmosphere, one bar.
Had He made it heavy like mercury, today the ships floating on the sea you would not find.
How do ships float? Now, things whose specific gravity is heavier than water sink, and things whose specific gravity is lighter than water float on the water. Today, although a piece of iron's specific gravity is heavier than water, we make it on the sea float. As Archimedes found: while bathing in the bathhouse, he sees that the bath bowl does not sink in the water, he shouts "Eureka, eureka", he says "I found it, I found it." What did he find? He sees that a metal carries water in proportion to the volume it presses into the water, and that water has a buoyant force. So when the ships at sea are built broad and wide in volume, in proportion to the volume they press into the water, the ships at sea float by the buoyant force of the water.
Yes. Our Lord creates everything with knowledge and power. That ships would travel on the sea, that the (?) of water would be one, and accordingly, according to the weight of other substances, to the extent they sink into the water, the water's buoyant force arises — having created the worlds with knowledge, He addresses with knowledge these people. But unfortunately those unaware of these sciences, amid these (?), turn religion thoroughly into this (?) they turn it.
Allah Almighty continues to address the intellect. So that people may benefit from the flesh of the fish living in the seas and from the pearls found inside the mussels in the seas, the One who placed the seas at people's command is Allah.
That His creatures that live on land with air, under water, from lack of oxygen drown, and that a creature He created in the water cannot live in the air and suffocates from too much oxygen — this we see. Besides this, by also creating creatures that live both on land and in the seas, Allah Almighty shows His knowledge to people. For example seals and sea lions lie both in the sea and on land, they live, they breathe air, they live in the sea. Well, and all creatures — in fish, they put a certain amount of air into their own air sacs. With these air sacs, under the sea for two hours, three hours, five hours, six hours, well, depending on its condition, it can manage.
At the same time, by passing water through the gills, through the gills, those gills take the (?) in the water and, just like the task in our lungs, make it be done for them. It takes that (?) in the water and secures its life. Yes.
Besides this, by also creating creatures that live both on land and in the seas, Allah Almighty shows His knowledge to people.
Placing the seas at people's command, bringing out many ornaments found in the seas and offering them to people's service, enabling them to earn their living and to trade, are again Allah's blessings upon people. That ships travel in the sea without sinking, that they are created with knowledge, is not a coincidence. That substances lighter than the specific gravity of water stay on the water also shows that they were created with knowledge. That substances heavier than the specific gravity of water obtain, as much as the volume of water they carry, the water's buoyant force, enables today's heavy ships to float on the water and travel.
By proving to every person of reason that nothing created is a coincidence, He commands us to give thanks for the blessings Allah has given. Yes.
