Translation

When they (deniers) are asked; “What did your Lord send down?” they say; “The tales of the ancient ones from the past!”

Tafsir

When arrogant people who have denied Allah and the Hereafter, and who have a complex of pride and fame, are asked what your Lord has sent down to you, they say: "The tales of the ancients". They do not see the parables and stories that Allah has given them. The fact that Allah destroyed the people whom they call the tales of the ancients, that they were warned by the Qur'an and the Prophet so that it would not happen to them, and that they ridicule Allah as the tales of the ancients without fearing Allah, despite the light being shown to them, shows that they are blind and deaf and their hearts are sealed. Such people are ignorant, even if they are at the peak of knowledge. The knowledge of Allah has been given to man to know his Lord. Every knowledge leads to Allah. In this respect, knowledge is honorable. But if a person is proud and arrogant and cannot find the Lord with the knowledge that Allah has bestowed upon man, then all his good deeds in life have been in vain.

Such people cannot bow down to Allah out of pride and arrogance, and they consider worshipping Allah an imposition on their own souls. They suffer the fate of those whom they call the fables of the ancients and become cruel to their souls.

What is said in the video

Then, in the meantime, let me say one more verse; after the verse I will answer your question.

To them — Surah An-Nahl, verse 24, the noble verse: when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" the deniers say, "Tales of the ancients."

Now, how foolish and (?) they are, inside the circle of ignorance — this last word proves it so beautifully. They say, "Tales of the ancients." What do you understand from this? What do you understand? this expresses a lot. A lot. These people in ignorance who say He sent down the tales of the ancients, those who deny Allah.

If He sent down the tales of the ancients — the ancients called these tales, and with the destruction they suffered, have you still not come to your senses?

He sent down the tales of the ancients. Noah's flood, the people of Lot, the people of Salih, Thamud, the people of Pharaoh. What happened to them? What happened to them? If the people of the tales of the ancients came to this state, then you too, when you say "He sent down the tales of the ancients", how are you different from them? And won't you too be exposed to this destruction? Won't you have asked for this destruction with your own mouth, of your own will? Yes. How well they prove themselves. He says: did you think you would die without proving what kind of person you are? How well they prove it.

Yes.

To the arrogant people who have denied Allah and the Hereafter, (?) and seized by a fame complex, when it is said, "What has your Lord sent down to you?", they say, "Tales of the ancients." Isn't it so? Isn't it? Let's see what will happen. They do not see the many comparisons and stories Allah has given. That He destroyed the peoples they call tales of the ancients, that they were warned with the Quran and the Prophet so it would not befall them, that despite a light being held before them, without fearing Allah, defying Allah, they mock, "tales of the earlier ones" — this shows that their blind (?) hearts are sealed.

Their eyes are blind to Allah's verses, their ears are veiled to Allah's word. And they have had their hearts sealed. And for them there is a painful punishment. Yes.

Such people, even if they were at the summit of knowledge, are ignorant people. Allah gave man knowledge so that he would know his Lord. Every knowledge leads man to Allah. In this respect knowledge is honourable. But a person becomes proud and arrogant. If with the knowledge Allah has granted him he cannot find his Lord, all the good deeds he has done in life have gone to waste.

Such people, out of arrogance and pride, cannot submit to Allah, and they consider worshipping Allah a humiliation for their own nafs. Those they called "the tales of the ancients" — they meet the fate of those people; against their own selves they become wrongdoers.
