(Oh My Messenger!) Call to your Lord’s path with wisdom and beautiful advice and struggle against them in the best manner. Your Lord is the One who knows the best; those who went astray from Allah’s path, and those who attained guidance.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) informs people about the ways of addressing them with this verse. By creation, people are not interested in those who address them badly. Therefore, by saying, "Struggle with wisdom, eloquence and in the best way," he is addressing three types of people in a way that their minds can comprehend.
Invite to the way of Allah with wisdom is to declare the existence of Allah with wisdom to scholars and people who are intelligent. In other words, tell them that the end of a good thing is bad, or that the end of what seems to be a bad deed can turn out to be good, but the knowledge of this is with Allah.
As for eloquence, explain the existence of Allah to people with normal minds by proving the existence of Allah with proofs in a language that they can understand and that pleases their hearts. Advise them and enlighten them on matters where people disagree.
Fight them in the best way possible means to invite those who do not believe in Islam, who deny Allah and the Hereafter, to the Truth in the best way possible, by being soft, by not arousing their wrath and hatred, and by using kind words. In a hadith, the Prophet (s.a.w.) said, "Help the oppressed and help the oppressor". The Companions said, "O Rasullallah! We understand helping the oppressed, but how can we help the oppressor? The Prophet (s.a.w.) said that preventing the evil of the oppressor is helping him.
There is a proverb that says, "A sweet tongue leads the snake out of its hole. Treating those who are subject to every stubborn devil and oppose the religion of Islam with sweet words is both to prevent their evil. It is also an invitation to those among them whose bosoms are open to Islam.
Allah (swt) made a covenant with the people (kalu bela). He has written their wishes, desires and wills as their destiny. Allah (swt) knows best those who deviate from the straight path and those who follow the right path and guidance. Therefore, no one can forcefully guide anyone to Hidayet, nor can anyone turn those who are guided away from the right path.
What is said in the video
And in verse 125 of Surah An-Nahl: My Messenger, call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good counsel, and argue with them in the best way. Your Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He also knows very well those who are guided. Of course, if Allah Almighty has given us our characters according to our covenant, surely He will know us better than we know ourselves. What does He say? What you need, and what is in the highest (?) of your heart, even though you do not know it, We know, He says. Since He says We are closer to you than your jugular vein, there is not a single creature until the Day of Judgement of which We would not know what it will do, according to the verses.
Yes, Allah Almighty will know everything in the best way. Yes. He knows very well those who are guided. And He knows very well those who are not guided. With this verse, Allah Almighty makes known how to address people. By nature, people feel no interest or attraction toward those who address them badly. Therefore, by saying "with wisdom, good words, and argue in the best way", He has three kinds of people addressed in a way their minds can grasp.
His saying "call to Allah's way with wisdom" means: to scholars and to people with sharp minds, making Allah's existence clear through wisdom. That is, that the end of a good thing may be bad, or that events which seem like a bad thing end up turning into good, but that the knowledge of this is with Allah — explain these things.
As for good words: to people of ordinary minds, explain Allah's existence, pleasing their hearts, in a language they will understand, proving it with evidence. Give them counsel, and in the matters over which people disagree, enlighten them. And "argue with them in the best way" means: those who do not believe in Islam, who deny Allah and the hereafter — call them in the best way, gently, without arousing their anger and hatred, with gentle words, to the Truth. In a hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Help the oppressed and help the oppressor too. The noble Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, we understand helping the oppressed, but how shall we help the oppressor, they said. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Preventing the oppressor's evil is helping him.
Here, the proverb: A sweet tongue draws the snake out of its hole, they have said. Treating with sweet words every stubborn one who follows Satan, and those who oppose the religion of Islam, both prevents their evil and, for those among them whose breasts are open to Islam, is an invitation. Allah Almighty made a covenant with people at Qalu Bala. He wrote their own wishes, desires and aims for them as their destiny. So Allah Almighty knows best both those who leave the straight path and those who reach the right path and guidance. That is why no one can either force anyone into guidance or turn the guided away from the right path.
