We have given the Book to Moses and We made this Book a guidance for the sons of Israel, Saying: “Do not adopt anyone but Me (Allah) as (a Lord) whom you trust and depend on”.
Tafsir
Allah (swt) sent Hazrat Moses (peace be upon him) as a Prophet to the people of Israel and sent him with miracles to invite Pharaoh to give up his claim of Godhood and to worship his Lord. Pharaoh used to deny Allah and the Prophet, declare himself a god and oppress the people of Israel. When Hazrat Moses (peace be upon him) went away with his people, Pharaoh pursued them to capture and kill them. But Allah destroyed Pharaoh in the Red Sea.
After Hazrat Moses and the people of Israel crossed the Red Sea and reached the other side of the Red Sea, Hazrat Moses ascended to the Tur on the command of Allah (swt) and there Allah (swt) revealed the Torah to Hazrat Moses (swt). The principles of the Torah are the same in all the Books revealed by Allah. That is to know Allah as one. That there is no God but Allah. And Allah alone is to be relied upon and trusted.
Allah (swt) gave the Torah to the Children of Israel as a source of guidance after He brought them out of darkness and oppression.
What is said in the video
We come to the second verse of Surah Al-Isra.
We gave Moses the Book and, saying to the Children of Israel, do not take besides Me a Lord to rely on and trust, We made this Book a guide to right guidance, it says. Guide to right guidance. Allah Almighty saves the people of the Children of Israel from Pharaoh's oppression.
He splits the sea and brings them across. He destroys Pharaoh.
Then Moses, to meet with Allah Almighty on Mount Tur, well, sets out. Behind him, these people worship the Samiri. They worship the idol that the Samiri made. Despite seeing so many miracles of Allah Almighty, this accursed and base people again turns its back on Allah and begins worshipping idols. Then Allah Almighty creates for them one more cause. When they do not fulfil that cause either, He confines them for 40 years. They croak and perish in the Sinai desert. Yes. In the Sinai desert.
To enter this place called Jerusalem, of the Amalekite people, Allah Almighty commands Moses. And Moses, since they are 12 tribes, from the leaders of the 12 tribes one each he takes. Go there, he says. You will tell what you see only to me. You will not tell anyone, he says. They go there. They see people like church pillars. On the way back they don't listen to Moses' word. They tell their tribes. Except one. And that one says, if, he says, I know this place very well, he says. If, he says, we go in through this gap, through this gate, and getting in will be very easy, he says, we will defeat them, he says.
Then the others say exactly this: You and Allah go together and fight. Win. After that, let us go straight there, they say. And Allah Almighty confines them in the Sinai desert for 40 years, and in the Sinai desert, Moses and Aaron too, they say, were there. However, their children, with David, with a commander called (?), set out and begin to spread. So: We gave Moses the Book and, saying to the Children of Israel, do not take besides Me a Lord to rely on and trust, We made this Book a guide to right guidance, it says. Just as Allah Almighty sent Moses (peace be upon him) as a prophet to the people of the Children of Israel, so too, to invite Pharaoh to give up his claim to divinity and to worship his Lord, He sent him with miracles.
Pharaoh denies Allah and the prophet and declares himself God. He used to oppress the people of the Children of Israel. When Moses (peace be upon him) took his people and left, Pharaoh, to catch and kill them, goes after them. But Allah destroys Pharaoh in the Red Sea. Yes.
After Moses and the people of Israel, who crossed the Red Sea to the other side, attained salvation, by the command of Allah Almighty Moses (peace be upon him) goes up Mount Tur, and there Allah Almighty, to Moses (peace be upon him), sends down the Torah. And the fundamentals of the Torah are the same in all the books Allah has sent down. That is, to know Allah as one. That there is no god other than Allah. And that one must rely on and trust only in Allah. So, after Allah Almighty brought the people of the Children of Israel out of darkness and oppression to salvation, He gave the Torah to the Children of Israel as a source of guidance.
The verses of the Torah: in Surah Al-Baqarah, 83 and 84, in these verses the Ten Commandments are there. If you like, let's share those Ten Commandments with you. Let's open the book here. 83, the verse, a verse explained wrongly, what does it say? Once, from the Children of Israel: you will worship only Allah, you will do good to parents, near relatives, orphans and the poor; thus a pledge was taken. A pledge was taken, and: speak kindly to people, perform the prayer, give the zakat, We had commanded. In the end, all but a few of you turned away and left, it says. So Allah Almighty takes a pledge from this accursed people.
He could not get His word through to this people. And they turned and went away. If Allah Almighty took a pledge from someone, took a pledge, but He does not take pledges. Rather, people bring about their own wishes and desires. (?) the correct version of this is as follows. We addressed these words to the Children of Israel, says Allah Almighty. He does not say, We took a pledge from them. If He took a pledge, then He could not make His word fully binding on them, could not work it into their characters, which means Allah Almighty fell short here. They are always ascribing attributes to Allah Almighty anyway.
The base ones. Oppressors who pass themselves off as scholars.
They twist it every which way. Yet look: once, from the Children of Israel: you will worship only Allah, you will do good to parents, near relatives, orphans and the poor; thus We had taken a pledge, it says. We addressed these words to the Children of Israel. Addressed words. He commands. Well, today Allah says: pray. There are those who don't. He says: become Muslim. There are those who don't. Since everyone's own character, wishes and desires, his will, become his destiny, everyone lives his own destiny. Allah tells you the truth. What does He say? We addressed these words to the Children of Israel.
One: do not worship anyone other than Allah. Two: to mother. Three: to father. Four: to relatives. Five: do good to orphans and the poor. Six: speak kindly to people. Seven: perform the prayer as it should be. Give the zakat, it says. Give the zakat. Eight; it counts eight of them here. Then, all but a very few of you turned away, and you persist in going back on what you said, it says. In what they said, they keep turning their backs on Allah Almighty's command, they persist. They are the (?) of the earth. Wherever they enter, they gnaw at a place like a worm and stain the earth with blood.
To these: if the so many million people in the world, however many billion people there are, want to find life, these men must be wiped out. That's truly so. Wherever these men go, they stir up strife. They shed blood. If a person wants, tolerating Allah's creations, to grant them the right to life, but these, gnawing at human consciences, gnawing at people like a wolf hostile to humans, and like vampires who delight in shedding human blood, attacking all around like rabid dogs: creatures, we shall call this. Creatures. Yes.
They have explained verse 84 wrongly as well. O Children of Israel, that you would not shed each other's blood, that you would not drive each other out of your homes, We had taken a pledge from you. Again "We had taken a pledge". So Allah Almighty could not properly work His word, as character, into them. Seeing everything, in the end you had accepted these, it says. Just look: you, seeing everything. Whereas We had said to you: Do not shed each other's blood. Do not drive each other out of your homes, We had said in the Torah. Therefore you too are witnesses to what I said in the past, it says.
Of course, if it is in the Torah, here in the Quran. These verses are in the Quran too. That too is here. Both are here (?). Ten, the Ten Commandments. What does it say? Well, do not shed each other's, each other's blood, the ninth; and the tenth: do not drive each other out of your homes. The Ten Commandments are written here. And you, it says, are witnesses to this from the past. That is, this is also in the Torah in your hands, it says.
In that case, these people, these people truly are the accursed of the earth; just as the accursed one was cursed, cursed, having opposed Allah, these too on earth are a cursed people. I'm not saying it. Allah Almighty says it. We cursed them, we say. We cursed. The reality of the curse is around their necks. That's why they, these vile creatures, never keep still. They cannot be looked upon as human. In the human soul there is something positive. There is a beauty. If a person has lost that positivity of the soul, has, well, drifted from his soul, in Allah Almighty's verse: they are like four-legged beasts roaming the earth; if he has entered that category, and even in one verse it says: they, than the four-legged beasts on the earth, are even more astray in their course, it says.
In their course. By the deeds he does, he is human. With some deeds he is even lower than an animal, it says. Because the animal has a duty it will carry out. Since He left this free in his own will, with that will, beyond the animal, he is a creature committing the filth and wickedness Allah does not want, that pushes His limits, and every kind of vice. And I can't call them human. Creature. If he were human, a human has a conscience. With that conscience, if a person, today a Christian, knows his Lord, he has, well, respect for his Lord's places of worship. In these there is not even this respect.
Yes. We gave Moses the Book. And saying to the Children of Israel, do not take besides Me a Lord to rely on and trust, We made this Book a guide to right guidance, it says. That is, We made the Quran a guide to right guidance.
After Moses and the people of Israel, who crossed the Red Sea to the other side, attained salvation, by Allah Almighty's command Moses (peace be upon him) goes up Mount Tur, and there Allah Almighty sends down the Torah to Moses (peace be upon him).
How did He send it down? Allah Almighty was invisible, wasn't He; how did He give the Torah? The Torah, just like the lightning that flashes now, on a certain stone He wrote His commands with a thunderbolt. With a thunderbolt. Yes. And he, with those stones, the stones with the commands written on them, returned to his people.
And there Allah Almighty sends down the Torah to Moses (peace be upon him). And the fundamentals of the Torah are the same in all the books Allah has sent down. That is, to know Allah as one, that there is no god other than Allah, and only in Allah should one rely and trust. So, after Allah Almighty brought the people of the Children of Israel out of darkness and oppression to salvation, He gave the Torah to the Children of Israel as a source of guidance.
