Translation

Then, We gave you again (victory) against them. We increased your strength with wealth and sons and increased your numbers.

Tafsir

After their defeat, the tribe of Beni Isra'il turned back from this mischief, reformed, and gained victory over their enemies, whom they had defeated, and took dominion over them. Allah (swt) gave them wealth and children and multiplied their offspring.

According to the narrations, a period of about a hundred years passed. Hadrat David 'alaihis-salâm' became their Prophet and leader and killed their enemy Goliath.

According to another narration, it corresponds to the time of Daniyel. The captives of the tribe of Israel were freed from captivity and returned to Damascus and settled there. There they will have wealth and property, children and children and multiply.

By telling people about these events, Allah Ta'ala is showing them the sovereignty of His existence, that people are at peace and will be saved when they are with Allah, and that if they deny Allah and the Hereafter, are spoiled with worldly wealth and possessions, do not listen to Allah's commands and prohibitions, and go beyond the limits in rebellion, Allah Ta'ala is saying that We will surely inflict a punishment on people from Us.

The same event is now appearing.

Then, against them, We gave you victory again. We increased your strength with wealth and sons. And We multiplied your number, He says, again to the Children of Israel. And the (?) people, after the defeat, held back from this corruption, came to their senses and, over the enemies who had defeated them, won victory and took back their dominion. Allah Almighty gave them wealth and children, and they multiplied their generations. According to reports, about 100 years passed in between. David (peace be upon him) became their prophet and leader, and their enemy Goliath he killed. According to another report, it corresponds to the time of Daniel (peace be upon him).

Daniel (peace be upon him) prevails over the followers of Nebuchadnezzar. Winning victory over them, the captives of the Children of Israel were freed from captivity, returned to Damascus and settled there. There they gained wealth and property, children and families, and multiplied. By telling people of these events, Allah Almighty shows the sovereignty of His existence, that people are at peace when they are with Allah and will reach salvation, and that if they deny Allah and the Hereafter, grow arrogant with worldly wealth and property, and Allah's commands and prohibitions do not heed, and transgress all bounds in rebellion, Allah Almighty says: Surely, upon people We will inflict a punishment from Us.
