Translation

Approach an orphan’s possession with the best intentions until he reaches maturity. And fulfill a covenant you have made; verily, a covenant that has been made requires responsibility.

Tafsir

There is the best way to protect the property of the orphan. An orphan is a small child who is not of sound mind. He has inherited property from his father or mother. The guardian can put it to work with good intentions. If the guardian is in need, he can take from the money earned by working the orphan's property enough to meet his needs.

And the fulfillment of promises must be taken very seriously. Because Allah is sufficient as a witness between them to these promises. Promises come with responsibility. The responsibility of a promise is evident in the character of the person who makes it, whether he keeps his word or not. People who do not keep their promises are seen as despicable and vulgar in the eyes of the people. In addition, such people are not faithful to their promises because they are haram-oriented. In this respect, a promise entails responsibility. One of the signs of hypocrisy is not being faithful to one's word. Whoever makes a promise to someone must fulfill it.

What is said in the video

Surah Al-Isra, 34th verse:

yes, approach the orphan's property, until he comes of age, only with the best intention. And fulfil the promise you have given. For a promise given entails responsibility, He says. A promise given. So be very careful with your word, gentlemen. The Prophet (peace be upon him) also says: take on the character of Allah, he says. The finest character trait is keeping the promise you give. This (?) a person away from lies, from (?), from every kind of thing. Allah Almighty also says: who is truer to his promise than Allah? So a promise requires responsibility. For example, Allah Almighty says: whoever has more good deeds, I will admit him to My Paradise.

Does He say that? Yes. So could you find injustice in Allah Almighty? As long as your good deeds are more there, would He put you in Hell? Never. Now, in that case, keep your promise. And approach the orphan's property, until he comes of age, with the best intention. That is, approach his property in this way: If you have no need, so that zakat does not eat up the orphan's property, put it to work, He says. How beautifully it is said in the verse. Put it to work. If you have no need, save his money in his name. When you see he has come of age and his mind, He says, is in place, when you have tested and understood it, hand his property over to him.

Hand it over with witnesses, He says. With witnesses. Tomorrow he might say: I also had this, or: you didn't give me that. Then, if you are in need, you put the orphan's property to work, and you may eat from it as much as you need. So approach with good intention, He says. This is a (?) intention.

And fulfil the promise you have given. For a promise given entails responsibility, He says. Yes.

I don't make promises to anyone.

Because when I promise, I become uneasy.

I (?) that time, so that even before the time comes I want to be with him. And this makes me uneasy.

So I don't promise anyone.

If I have promised, either I'll have died and won't go there, or I'll have a very big matter, an urgent matter, and I'll let him know in advance. I'll let him know in advance.

So since we don't know the unseen, we may have made a promise. In some tight moments, when we can't go, we fall ill, emergencies arise, there's a fire, (?), a death, an illness. Does that happen? It does. You can't go where you were going. You must let the person know your situation in advance. And this makes a person uneasy. I become uneasy. I don't promise anyone. I say 'if it's meant to be', fine, and I move on. Yes. Because Allah Almighty says, doesn't He: who is truer to his promise than Allah? Since Allah Almighty knows the unseen, since He Himself programmed all the worlds, since He knows second by second what will happen in the universe, He speaks accordingly.

Since we do not know the unseen, we speak with inshallah. That is, if Allah permits us, if we live to see that day and if He grants it, inshallah. If, He says, Satan makes you forget this, then afterwards say this, He says: Surely my Lord will bring me to this success even before this, say, He says. Yes.

Approach the orphan's property, until he comes of age, only with the best intention. And fulfil the promise you have given, for a promise given entails responsibility, He says. There is protecting the orphan's property in the best way. An orphan is a small, (?) child. Property has been left from the father or the mother. The person who is his guardian can put this property to work with good intention. If the guardian is in need, from the money he earns by putting the orphan's property to work he himself may take as much as will cover his needs. Not all of it — his need, however much he needs. The rest is that child's property.

Great care must also be taken that promises given are kept. For Allah, who is present among them as witness to these promises, suffices. Promises require responsibility. As for the responsibility of a promise: by whether the person who gave it keeps his promise or not, his character becomes clear. People who don't keep their promises are condemned and seen in people's eyes as contemptible and base. Moreover, since such people are inclined towards the haram, they do not stay true to their word. That is why a promise entails responsibility. One of the signs of hypocrisy is not being true to one's word.

In this respect a promise is like a person's honour. Whoever gives someone a promise must certainly fulfil it. Yes.

The signs of a hypocrite are three, he says. Three. He betrays the trust given to him.

He does not keep his word, and he lies. These are the signs of a hypocrite. If all three are in a person, he is a hypocrite.
