Tafsir
When people are deceived by worldly wealth and usurp other people's wealth, they are earning haram wealth. Underweighing with a measure is also usurping another person's property. This person has also haramized his property. He has eaten the right of the other person. Eating rights is a very bad thing. One person cannot easily get rid of another person's right. For example, if you were asked if you would sell your life to me, I don't think any human being would say I would sell my life to you. Because after a life sold, there is no life. The wealth of a lifetime that does not exist is no good to the one who gave his life.
But a person goes to a workplace, works there, and sells his life for a limited period of time to his boss or the state for a few pennies a day. In return, that is, if this person, who has sold part of his life to his boss or the state in exchange for a commodity, comes to you to buy something from the money he has earned, and you cheat him, under-weigh his goods, and usurp his rights, you have stolen not a penny's worth of goods, but his life.
Tomorrow, in the Hereafter, the man whose property you usurped, under-weighed, under-weighed, and stooped to a few pennies will be a sinner, and what will he say when he sees the torment? O Allah, I worked to take care of my children, I bought goods from these men to provide for my children with the money I earned, and they gave me less than what I paid, so I could not provide for my children, I had to work hard to take care of my children, and I could not worship You. What will you do if he says, 'O Allah, take my right from them? If you are robbed and bankrupt in the Hereafter, you will not find a helper there. If you weigh exactly and give people their due, it is good for the life of this world, and the result is much better. The meaning of the result is that as a result of the good deeds of those who fear Allah in this world, Allah will increase the rewards of people in the Hereafter, on the Day of Reckoning. They will have the gains of the eternal bliss of the realm of truth.
What is said in the video
Surah Al-Isra, verse 35.
When you measure, give full measure, and weigh with an accurate scale. This is both better and finer in its outcome. Would you like it if, when you buy a kilo of goods, the man gave you 900 grams, 850 grams?
Maybe he gave you 850 grams and it met your need, maybe nothing happens to you, but your right remains on that person and that person cannot get free of your right. What is a right? We have explained right many times. The real, basic nature of a right is the money you earn by selling your lifetime.
Would you sell your lifetime for trillions? Your lifetime. Well, if you sold it, you couldn't enjoy life. Or you'd die. But what do you do? For your living, for your wife and children, you go and work for a man for 8 hours, 10 hours, 12 hours. You give him your lifetime. You work under his orders, and the money you get there you bring to your wife and children. That is why He says about mother and father: do not even say 'uff' beside them, when (?) beside you, He says. To them. Apart from that, the other one stole the lifetime you sold.
How will he pay for that right? Well, let's say I shopped from site B, from market B.
He cheated me. 100 grams from this, 50 grams from that, 10 grams from that, 30 grams from that, he gave me short goods. He has usurped my right. Tomorrow, at the Resurrection, do you know what I'll say about that person? O Allah, I gave my lifetime at such-and-such place and earned this money. In return for my lifetime. With it I came and bought goods. By giving me short goods, this one stole from my lifetime. To replace these goods, I went and worked again. Within the time of this work and the money I'll get from it, (?), I would say. Would I say it? I would. With what will this person pay for it?
Yes. That is why He says: when you measure, measure in full. If necessary, give half a chickpea extra from your own. I knew a grocer across from my house in Samsun who would cut a chickpea with scissors in two. I'm sure of this, (?), I mean, I don't know lies, he truly would cut the chickpea in two. Yes. So when you measure, He says, measure in full — what does He say? Measure in full and weigh with an accurate scale, He says, an accurate scale, (?). Now what does the man do? He puts a (?) on the scale like this, a little. One pan weighs down a bit, you see. He puts his weights on the side that weighs down.
No, he puts his weights on the side that stays up. And on the heavy side he puts the goods. So what happens? The heavy side has already gone down. From there he brings it into balance by stealing goods. 100 grams, 50 grams, whatever it is. Yes.
In this case, this verse reminds me of the people of Salih.
The prophet Salih says: when you buy, he says, you take full measure, and when you sell, do you sell half, he says? That is, do you give short, he says. When you measure, he says, when you buy, full measure, and when you sell, he says, do you give short, he says. In a very beautiful verse our Lord describes Salih's people like this. Yes. When people, deceived by worldly goods, usurp the property of the people they deal with, they have earned haram wealth. Yes.
In measuring, weighing short means usurping the other person's property. This person has mixed haram into his wealth. He has devoured the other person's right. Isn't it so. I come to Hızır and say: Hızır, give me a cone of halva. If Hızır gives me nine grams, hasn't he stolen a hundred grams of mine? Is it haram? Yes.
But when I went to Hızır's grocery he would give me extra, and he wouldn't take money either. He fed me (?). Isn't that right, Hızır? Yes.
This person has mixed haram into his wealth. He has devoured the other person's right. Devouring a right is a very bad thing. A person cannot easily get free of another person's right. For example, if they asked you: would you sell me your lifetime? I don't imagine any person would say: I'll sell you my lifetime. For after a sold lifetime there is no living. And the goods of a lifetime that no longer exists bring no good to the one who gave his life. But a person goes to a workplace, works there, and all day long his lifetime, for the few pennies he will get, to his boss or to the state, in limited slices of time, he sells. In return, that is, this person who sells part of his lifetime to his boss or the state by working, in return for something material, with the money he earned comes and buys something from you, and if you cheat him, weigh his goods short, usurp his right, you will have stolen not this person's three-penny goods but his lifetime.
Yes.
Tomorrow in the hereafter, the man whose goods you (?), weighed with a short scale, and whose 3-5 pennies you stooped to, becomes a sinner, and when he sees punishment, what does he say? O Allah, I worked to look after my wife and children. With the money I earned, I bought goods from this man to provide for my children's sustenance. And these, by giving me my goods short — I could not meet my children's needs. To be able to look after my children I had to work more, and I could not worship You. Allah, take my right from them — if he says this, what will you do?
What are you going to do? It is in the hereafter that you are truly robbed; if you go bankrupt, there you won't find a helper for yourself either. If you give full measure and give people their rights in full, this is both good for the life of this world and, in the end, much finer. By outcome is meant: as a result of the good deeds in this world of those who fear Allah, in the realm of the hereafter, on that day of reckoning, Allah increases people's rewards. They will have gained the earnings of the eternal bliss of the true world. Moreover, those people — when they are in straits in this world, Allah too is their helper.
Yes.
